Poll: Health Care Bill Wildly Unpopular in Swing Districts? No Kidding

By: Jane Hamsher Friday October 29, 2010 8:53 am

I’m really looking forward to looking at how well the polls predicted the impact of the health care bill in these districts after the election, and compare SurveyUSA’s methodology with the outcome in each. I hope those who willingly did the hatchet work of the DCCC will do likewise.

The Health Care Bill Nobody Wants to Talk About

By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday August 31, 2010 9:56 am

As Jay Cost of Real Clear Politics notes, it’s pretty obvious that the Democrats’ electoral woes are directly tied to the passage of the health care bill.  But somehow horserace analysts like Jonathan Alter, Jim Vanderhei and Mike Allen don’t want to talk about that. Well, we’ve been talking about it for months now. Nate [...]

SurveyUSA Poll: Perriello Down 23 Points From GOP Rival After Health Care Vote

By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday July 21, 2010 8:25 am

A new SurveyUSA poll out today shows Tom Perriello trailing Republican Robert Hurt by 23 points.   In February, prior to the health care vote, PPP polling showed Perriello essentially tied with Hurt. This confirms what FDL has been saying for months:  forcing members of Congress like Tom Perriello to vote for the health care bill [...]

Baron Hill Is Losing by 8 Points to His GOP Opponent and Other Tales of the Painfully Obvious

By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday February 16, 2010 10:08 am

If Rahm Emanuel’s plan to jam the anti-choice, anti-EFCA, homophobic Hill onto the ticket was disrupted as a result of our polling, don’t hold your breath waiting for me to get too worked up about it.

Baron Hill may be a favorite of the DC establishment, but he’s got so much negative baggage going in it would be almost impossible for him to win — certainly without the help of the unions. Anything that keeps him off the ticket is a favor to the entire Democratic party.

Oh, and by the way, in case you run into Marc Ambinder:

BARON HILL IS LOSING BY 8 POINTS TO HIS GOP OPPONENT MIKE SODREL

Polling: House Bill More Popular Than Senate Bill in Swing Districts

By: Jane Hamsher Monday January 25, 2010 7:07 am

It’s not every day that the head of the DCCC takes on the President, the Senate and the entire Democratic leadership of the House to defy passage of their hand-crafted legislation on their signature issue. But Chris Van Hollen has said that the House will not pass the Senate bill without changes, as the Senate and the White House are demanding.

Why would the man charged with getting House Democrats elected in 2010 do such a thing?

77% Want “Choice” Between Public Plan and Private Insurance

By: Jane Hamsher Thursday August 20, 2009 10:00 pm

The House Dems have 77% of the country behind them. Conrad and Bayh have WellPoint and Blue Cross behind them, and messy financial ties to boot. Will they join with the Republicans to filibuster a Democratic health care bill? Because as Kagro X says, that is very much what they are saying they will do.
