Jane on MSNBC: Bradley Manning’s Abuse Will Only Stop When People Ask Questions

By: Michael Whitney Monday January 24, 2011 3:13 pm

Firedoglake.com’s Jane Hamsher went on MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan Show this afternoon to discuss Bradley Manning’s imprisonment at Quantico Marine base, and how she and David House were detained at Quantico for two hours yesterday.

Hamsher explained that the government’s goal is to completely isolate Bradley Manning. When Dylan Ratigan asked if she feared her appearance would further endanger Manning, Hamsher replied that “the only thing that’s going to stop the abuse of Bradley Manning is when people start asking questions.”

Goal of Quantico Incident Was To Abuse Bradley Manning and Intimidate David House

By: Jane Hamsher Sunday January 23, 2011 6:10 pm

There is no doubt in my mind that the primary objective of everything that happened today at Quantico was to keep Bradley Manning from having the company of his only remaining visitor, and intimidate him from ever returning.

Oliver North’s Pre-Trial Conditions For UCMJ Violations Dramatically Different Than Bradley Manning’s

By: Jane Hamsher Thursday January 20, 2011 8:47 am

I will drive down to Quantico this weekend with Bradley Manning’s friend David House when David delivers petition signatures to the Commander of the Quantico brig. The petition urges an end to the inhumane treatment of Manning during his pre-trial confinement.

David House is the only person aside from Bradley’s lawyer who visits him regularly. He recently wrote about Bradley’s conditions here at FDL, which include severe restrictions on his ability to exercise, communicate or even sleep. Manning has not been convicted of any crime, nor is there a date for any court hearing.

I don’t recall Oliver North being subjected to anything like that while he was awaiting trial.
