PolitiFact Names ‘You can keep your insurance’ Lie of the Year

By: Friday December 13, 2013 8:00 am

PolitiFact named Obama’s “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it” promise the lie of the 2013. I don’t disagree with their logic for giving it such prominence. After all, Obama knew this promise was impossible, it was a purposeful deception to advance a political agenda and it generated a lot of [...]

The Lie of the Year Should Be Obama’s Promise Not to Raise Taxes on the Middle Class

By: Wednesday December 19, 2012 7:31 am

Even before Obama’s second term begins, he has rushed to break this campaign promise. Obama has pushed for a deficit deal that includes a switch to chained-CPI. Switching to a lower inflation measure would not only cut Social Security benefits, it would end up being a significant tax increase on the middle class by causing tax brackets to raise more slowly. While the tax increase would be very small at first, over the next decade it would mean the middle class will pay ten of billions more in taxes.

By PolitiFact “Standards,” Romney’s Pants Are Also on Fire

Politifact could find [...]

PolitiFact is claiming that the DCCC lied when it stated that the Paul Ryan Budget recently passed by House Republicans would end Medicare. [...]

So Kendrick Meek is Suddenly Pro-Choice?

By: Wednesday June 23, 2010 8:27 am

Kendrick Meek is now saying that “when I become the nominee, the Democratic nominee, I will be the only pro-choice candidate on the ballot.” It’s great to hear his enthusiasm for abortion rights, but I have to wonder where Meek’s commitment was last year when he joined with four pro-life Democrats to demand restrictions on [...]

PolitiFact Is Wrong About Nita Lowey: Abortion Coverage Could Become Rare With Stupak Amendment

By: Wednesday November 11, 2009 1:57 pm

It is time to fact check the fact checkers. PolitiFact incorrectly labeled Rep. Nita Lowey statement on the Stupak Amendment as “false.” Lowey said the amendment “puts new restrictions on women’s access to abortion coverage in the private health insurance market even when they would pay premiums with their own money.” We believe that Lowey’s [...]
