No on Prop 19 Calls Our “Just Say Now” Campaign “Tasteless”

By: Michael Whitney Monday August 2, 2010 10:46 pm

Firedoglake founder Jane Hamsher took to CNN Monday tonight to announce Just Say Now, our campaign for marijuana legalization with the awesome folks at Students for Sensible Drug Policy and other notable allies. It was quite the showing, as Jane absolutely destroyed No on Prop 19 consultant Tim Rosales, who called our campaign “tasteless.”

What Part of “Not a Priority” Does the DEA Not Understand?

By: Michael Whitney Wednesday July 28, 2010 12:18 pm

Earlier this month the DEA conducted several coordinated raids of California medical marijuana dispensaries and collectives. Problem is, these DEA raids are in direct opposition to the directive issued by President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder last year that designated raids on legal medical marijuana dispensaries to “not be a priority” for the DEA. Today, Firedoglake publisher Jane Hamsher joined drug policy reform organizations and a conservative group, led by the Marijuana Policy Project, in condemning the DEA’s raids.

Finding Leverage Points, Flexing Muscles: Lessons from the Anti-Saloon League, Part Four

By: Jon Walker Sunday June 13, 2010 6:00 am

Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it and I shall move the world. –Archimedes Leverage is literally a force multiplier. In politics, a relatively small number of very dedicated volunteers, donors and voters can have an impact far greater than their numbers if they act with precision. The [...]

Criticizing the President on Health Care is “Naderite” and “Hurts the Progressive Agenda”

By: Jane Hamsher Monday December 28, 2009 7:59 am

Despite this evidence, there is an orchestrated, active full-court press to discredit and silence anyone who tries to point out the responsibility the President bears for this crafting bill. I’m surprised that the editor of the Nation would take part in it.

Don’t Blame Jane for Bad Health Reform and Broken Government

By: Jon Walker Wednesday December 23, 2009 11:02 am

Jane Hamsher does not support the Senate health care reform bill. No one should support the Senate health care reform bill because it is, frankly, a very bad bill. It has no real checks on the health insurance industry, and is an extremely expensive and wasteful way to expand coverage. Fortunately, our government is a [...]

Ezra Klein, Defender Of Free-Market Economagic Health Care Myths

By: Jon Walker Monday December 21, 2009 3:16 pm

Ezra Klein attempts to rebut Jane’s reasons for opposing the bill. Many of his arguments are weak at best.

Talking Single Payer Candidates With Ed Schultz

By: Jane Hamsher Thursday December 10, 2009 4:34 pm

If your progressive Democratic member of Congress decides to support the corporatist agenda and vote for a health care bill that makes the insurance companies say “we won,” they probably need to be challenged.

If you’d like to volunteer to be a part the effort to recruit a “Medicare for All” candidate in your district, sign up here.

Heath Shuler Given GOP Talking Points by PhRMA

By: Jane Hamsher Sunday November 15, 2009 4:35 pm

When important cancer drugs can’t go into cheaper generic forms, and cancer and AIDS patients around the world can’t afford them, they should all remember the helpful role they played.

The rest of us can ask Sherrod Brown to save us from PhRMA and this truly shitty piece of lobbyist-written legislation HERE.

Netroots Nation Panel on the Public Plan

By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday August 18, 2009 10:21 am

If you didn’t get a chance to see it, there was a panel at Netroots Nation where I discussed the netroots battle for the public plan with Chris Bowers of Open Left, Kagro X of Congress Matters, McJoan of Daily Kos and Darcy Burner.
