I’m at Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC with Jon Walker and Kevin Gozstola, where we’ll be livestreaming the occupation. Chip in $10 to our OccupyWallStreet coverage fund and help us do what the mainstream media won’t do.

Jane posts the following, Dateline Jail: Central Booking, Washington DC - The President promised in 2008 that when he was elected the earth would begin to heal. Instead, he allowed 65 environmentalists to be arrested and held for two days on a charge that’s equivalent to a traffic ticket, in order to deter others from [...]

Dan, Bill and I are continuing our Powershift panel, “What Do You Do When the President is Just Not Into You.” (Felipe Matos, who took Bill’s place when we recreated the panel at Netroots Nation, scored quite the victory in the same vein with Roberto Lovato and everyone else at Presente this week.)
Dan Choi says we’re “flaming firebaggers.”
I’ll livestream as I can, and live tweet at @JaneHamsher

I was one of 2700 people who pledged to visit members of congress on July 19 and let them know I won’t vote for anyone who votes to cut Social Security or Medicare benefits. I went to Capitol Hill and visited some 40 offices with FDL readers weedpicker and Noel Q, who acted as cameraman. I gave each office a copy of our handout on Social Security and Medicare (PDF), and told them that 50,000 people had pledged not to vote for anyone who voted to cut Social Security and Medicare benefits.
I also let them know that “benefit cut” also included voting for a Chained CPI, raising the retirement age, or the creation of any kind of commission with the ability to write legislation that would bypass normal Congressional procedure (aka Catfood II).

Jane Hamsher was on MSNBC this afternoon to speak about PFC. Bradley Manning’s surprise transfer from Quantico to Fort Leavenworth, away from his attorney, his friends, and his family. Jane called on Obama to explain why he said Manning’s treatment met basic standards, when the Pentagon admitted yesterday Manning’s treatment was “rare, if not unprecedented.”

Today I joined with Michael Stipe, Viggo Mortensen, Daniel Ellsberg, Roseanne Cash, Tom Morello, Jesselyn Raddick, Shepherd Fairey and others to demand that President Obama and Secretary of Defense Gates investigate the degrading treatment that Bradley Manning is being subjected to at the Quantico brig.

Firedoglake.com’s Jane Hamsher went on MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan Show this afternoon to discuss Bradley Manning’s imprisonment at Quantico Marine base, and how she and David House were detained at Quantico for two hours yesterday.
Hamsher explained that the government’s goal is to completely isolate Bradley Manning. When Dylan Ratigan asked if she feared her appearance would further endanger Manning, Hamsher replied that “the only thing that’s going to stop the abuse of Bradley Manning is when people start asking questions.”

There is no doubt in my mind that the primary objective of everything that happened today at Quantico was to keep Bradley Manning from having the company of his only remaining visitor, and intimidate him from ever returning.

At roughly 1:00 pm, upon driving onto the base at Quantico, David House and blogger Jane Hamsher were detained. House, who is on the Quantico Brig’s visitation list, has been visiting Braley Manning in confinement since last September…

Jane Hamsher is with David House who is trying to visit Pvt. Bradley Manning at Quantico today while carrying a petition with 42,000 signatures requesting humane treatment for Manning. The military isn’t making it easy at all. We’re publishing her tweets as well as David House’s tweets here as a post in case you haven’t been able to follow on Twitter.
