The Cooperative Commonwealth Federation was a political party in Canada that formed during the Great Depression. Most of its support came from the rural cooperative movement among farmers. Cooperative members made up a large part of its voters, and many of its leaders had held elected posts in cooperatives. Organized labor was another important part [...]

John Mccain And “Jobs First” |

The Democratic National Committee puts together another in what has become a series of devastating side by sides of McCain and Bush (Moveon and others have chipped into this effort also).
In this ad, we hear the strikingly similar rhetoric coming from both Bush and McCain to try and convince us that the fundamentals of the economy are good, NAFTA has been economic Viagra, etc.
The Media Is Catching On To The Bush-McCain Similarities |
| By: Cliff Schecter Wednesday June 18, 2008 7:26 am |
There are, of course, some exceptions to this. Read this piece by Elisabeth Bumiller, overall a very good article:
WASHINGTON — The Democrats like to say that electing Senator John McCain would usher in the third term of George W. Bush, and they do not mean it as a compliment. The Republicans counter that calling the senator “McBush” is political spin and that Mr.

John McCain On His Transcendental Agreement With The Priorities Of George W. Bush |
| By: Cliff Schecter Wednesday June 11, 2008 1:36 pm |
As McCain is now chastising Barack Obama for pointing out the obvious–that he is Bush in an elderly gentleman’s clothing, I surmised that providing what the John McCain of 2005 thought about their shared priorities might come in handy:
SEN. McCAIN: No. No. I–the fact is that I’m different but the fact is that I have agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed.
Should John McCain Be Investigated In Light Of Scott McClellan’s Revelations? |
| By: Cliff Schecter Friday May 30, 2008 6:03 am |
Talk of investigations has resurfaced now that McClellan has corroborated, in his new book, accounts of the Bush Administration’s utilization of “propaganda” to sell the Iraq War to the American public along with a compliant media.
Yet, here is the thing. As Jon Perr points out with his typical brilliance, on many occasions John McCain proffered the very same line of bull in strikingly similar language.
John McCain Voted With George W. Bush 100% Of The Time In 2008 |
| By: Cliff Schecter Tuesday May 27, 2008 12:53 pm |
2007, however, was a particularly “mavericky”" year, as he only supported President Bush 19 out of every 20 times (95%). Therefore, if you subract 5% of 82 (or the % who think things are headed in the wrong direction), McCain was only taking us in the wrong direction about 78% of the time in 2007.Just FYI.
Retiring Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA) Says George W. Bush Is “Absolutely Radioactive” |
| By: Cliff Schecter Saturday May 17, 2008 11:55 am |
Now that is some real straight talk.Davis made the prediction on Bloomberg TV, that unless Republicans in the House and McCain distance themselves from Bush, they will lose 20-25 seats (if the election were held today) and McCain will go down by 20 points. The latter point is accurate. As for the former, when Democrats are winning +10 GOP districts in Mississippi by 8 points, 20-25 seats would be a miracle for

Joe Lieberman Joins The George W. Bush Smear Party |
| By: Cliff Schecter Thursday May 15, 2008 9:11 am |
No matter, that as Marcy points out, Bush’s family profited from doing business with the Nazis. Nope. History only matters if you’re a Democrat and especially if you’re African American. Not rich, white and Republican. But I digress. Now onto the “Independent Democrat.” Joe Lieberman joined Bush’s smear from earlier today, when Bush compared Sen.
