As The Washington Post reports, yesterday Barack Obama had a meeting with a number of labor leaders in the AFL-CIO, important in that some of their major affiliates (such as AFSCME) endorsed his rival Sen. Hillary Clinton during the primary.

As the piece puts it:

From an email I just got:

Dear Friend,

A few hours from now I will step on stage in Detroit, Michigan to announce my support for Senator Barack Obama. From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected President of the United States.

Hillary Clinton said the magic words. She also said: “I endorse him and throw my full support behind him.”

To her credit, Clinton did what she needed to do. Now it’s time to see how her supporters react. It’s going to get interesting.

As you know by now if you own a tv or a computer, John McCain has finally rejected the endorsement he once sought from John Hagee. The Catholic-bashing, gay-hating, Islamophobia didn’t do it. But once you’re a fan of Hitler’s work as a “hunter,” well, that’s a hard one to come back from.So now there is only the rejection of the Revs.

Emily’s List, to the chagrin of many Democrats, is sticking with Hillary Clinton. That is most surely their right. But, today, once NARAL endorsed Barack Obama and sent out a press release about it, the reaction of Emily’s List is a bit puzzling:Here is what NARAL had to say:We have been so fortunate to have two fully pro-choice candidates running for the Democratic nomination, and we praised both Sen.

He was just on MSNBC and apparently it slipped out. I will follow up on this and find video. But in light of Edwards’ campaign manager–former Rep. David Bonior–coming out for Obama yesterday and many of his top funders and supporters have now embraced the Illinois senator, this should not come as a complete surprise.
