President Obama went to a DCCC fundraiser and told all the big donors about how he needed Nancy Pelosi to be Speaker of the House again. He claimed it would be a “whole lot easier to govern” if she were. While the line was meant to get donors to open their wallets, it is so [...]

There have been some pretty shameless attempts on the part of Democratic operatives to co-opt the energy surrounding #OccupyWallStreet, but perhaps none more ribald than this email sent out by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee collecting petition signatures pretending to support them.

Women members of Congress contribute significantly to the DCCC’s coffers. But they don’t appear to be getting much for their money.

I frankly don’t even know how this is nonsense is possible given that the most recent Bloomberg poll taken during and after the deal was announced shows that keeping the tax cuts for the wealthy is unpopular, with only a third of Americans supporting even temporarily keeping the highest tax rate low. By the same token almost every recent poll before the deal was announced, like this CBS News poll, showed the public is behind the original Democratic position about ending the Bush tax cuts for those making over $250,000 and oppose extending all the tax cuts.

Carrie Budoff-Brown, writing in Politico, says: Rarely have so many political strategists been so wrong about something so big. But when it comes to the health care bill, everyone from former President Bill Clinton on down whiffed on some of the more significant predictions. Well, at least Bubba admitted he was wrong when David Gregory [...]

A new SurveyUSA poll out today shows Tom Perriello trailing Republican Robert Hurt by 23 points. In February, prior to the health care vote, PPP polling showed Perriello essentially tied with Hurt. This confirms what FDL has been saying for months: forcing members of Congress like Tom Perriello to vote for the health care bill [...]

If you are upset that the new financial reform bill is too weak, does not fundamentally change a broken system and will not prevent another meltdown, perhaps you should take a look at this: Wall Street is unhappy that Democrats have been slightly mean to them, so it has closed its huge campaign-donation spigot. From [...]

I can just imagine how that conversation went down…

So here’s a challenge to the DCCC. If you think the FDLSurveyUSA results for Tim Bishop, Barron Hill, Vic Snyder and Steve Driehaus are wrong, that Martha Coakley was just a “bad candidate” and the Democrats really aren’t in any trouble, let’s poll the districts again. Together. We’ll choose a non-partisan polling firm that’s mutually agreeable, split the cost, and see if the FDL/SurveyUSA results hold up.
And what’s more, we’ll make the same offer to local media outlets in these districts who would like to join us in re-polling these races.
We’ve shown all our results. The DCCC has done nothing but spin. It’s time for them to back up all the trash-talk with some action.

Van Hollen’s job is getting Democrats elected in 2010. The Senate bill is a travesty for a variety of reasons, but anyone who thinks that passing some shitty bill is going to help the Dems in 2010 is dreaming.
