DCCC Chairman Israel Tells Members Seven Polls Show Public Supports Tax Deal

By: Jon Walker Wednesday December 8, 2010 10:15 am

I frankly don’t even know how this is nonsense is possible given that the most recent Bloomberg poll taken during and after the deal was announced shows that keeping the tax cuts for the wealthy is unpopular, with only a third of Americans supporting even temporarily keeping the highest tax rate low. By the same token almost every recent poll before the deal was announced, like this CBS News poll, showed the public is behind the original Democratic position about ending the Bush tax cuts for those making over $250,000 and oppose extending all the tax cuts.

Would the 38% of Americans Who Think Obama Has a Clear Plan for Creating Jobs Please Share

By: Jon Walker Thursday September 16, 2010 10:28 am

According to the new CBS News/New York Times poll, 38 percent of Americans think President Obama has a clear plan for creating jobs while 53 percent think he does not. Well, I, for one, desperately wish that those 38 percent would share with the rest of the country because as far as I can see, [...]

More Media Coverage of Facebook’s Ban on Just Say Now Marijuana Logo

By: Jon Walker Wednesday August 25, 2010 11:02 am

And the controversy continues.  Today the Libertarian Party says that their Facebook ads were censored too: In a July 23 email to the LP, a Facebook rep wrote, “We do not allow ads for marijuana or political ads for the promotion of marijuana.” But Facebook subsequently approved Just Say Now’s ads on August 7. Margie [...]

Latest Polls Show New Health Care Law Remains Deeply Unpopular

By: Jon Walker Wednesday July 14, 2010 11:13 am

A few weeks ago, some polling suggested a minor increase in support for the new health care law, but recent polling indicates that is likely not the case. Three new polls show little improvement and even some loss in support for the law. Polls from Pew (approve 35 percent, disapprove 47), CBS News (approve 36, [...]

Americans Really Care About Jobs; Deficit, Not so Much

By: Jon Walker Wednesday July 14, 2010 8:01 am

While collective deficit hysteria fully grips Washington, what the American people really care about is jobs and the economy. According to a new CBS News poll, 38 percent of Americans think the most important problem facing our country is the economy and jobs. Second is the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan at seven percent. Health [...]

Americans to Congress: Give Us Jobs, Not Deficit Dance

By: Jon Walker Tuesday June 22, 2010 8:18 am

It is very impressive that the deficit fear-mongers, led by people like Peter Peterson, David Walker and Alan Simpson, have managed to get all of Washington worked into a self-destructive frenzy over the issue of the federal debt. The debt simply is not the issue regular Americans care about right now. Americans overwhelmingly rank jobs [...]

Democrats Prove Failures at Health Care Messaging; Deficit Perceptions Could Affect Elections

By: Jon Walker Monday April 12, 2010 10:30 am

One aspect of the health care reform fight that was sometimes overlooked, but I think should get more attention in any political retrospective, is just how completely and totally Democrats lost the PR messaging war. Democrats spent a huge amount of time and political capital making sure the bill was scored by the CBO as [...]
