So I figured I’d perform a community service and remind him.

Phil Gramm Is Becoming Dead Weight For McCain |
| By: Cliff Schecter Friday July 11, 2008 9:19 am |
When do you think McCain will throw this guy overboard? This email was sent to me by a source today, and the charges made in it, during a time when people are very anxiouis about the economy, gas prices, healthcare, etc., could cause a lot of trouble for McCain.
Obama Puts North Dakota In Play |
| By: Cliff Schecter Thursday July 10, 2008 11:38 am |
A new Rasmussen Reports Poll provides another sign that if Obama is only doing a “head fake” in states such as Nevada, Virginia, Colorado, Montana and now North Dakota, it has worked out better than planned:North Dakota is as safe a Republican state as any in Presidential elections. George W. Bush carried the state by twenty-seven points in Election 2004 and twenty-eight points four years earlier.
What Is Jesse Helms’ Impact On Our Current Political Environment? |
| By: Cliff Schecter Thursday July 10, 2008 9:06 am |
I just happened to write a short piece about this very subject for The Guardian:
Ronald Reagan gets the monuments. Richard Nixon is credited with the “Southern strategy”. But no single politician – save perhaps Strom Thurmond – embodied the manipulation of race, religion and the overarching set of issues known simply as “family values” to bring the once-solid Democratic South into the GOP fold.
GOP Rep Sees Serous Danger For Southern Republicans Because Of Obama |
| By: Cliff Schecter Thursday July 10, 2008 8:51 am |
It seems Obama’s ability to turn out African Americans, which is why Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia and perhaps even Mississippi will be hotly contested, may have a serious impact on down-ballot races, according to Republican Rep. Adam Putnam.
A New DNC Web Ad Goes After McCain’s Flip Flops On Iraq |
| By: Cliff Schecter Wednesday July 9, 2008 11:06 am |
This is a very powerful ad. It shows McCain’s devotion to being in Iraq, but also how he changes his timeline constantly–so it undermines him on foreign policy as well as his patented “straight-talk” moniker. With most Americans against this war, it reminds people McCain isn’t sure when we’ll get out, and that is not a good thing for McCain.
The Biggest Perceived Difference Between McCain And Obama: Iraq |
| By: Cliff Schecter Wednesday July 9, 2008 8:37 am |
This is according to a Rasmussen Poll. And if accurate, this could predict continued problems down the road for McCain, as you will see:Going strictly by the numbers, the biggest perceived difference between Barack Obama and John McCain can be found on the issue of Iraq. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of Democrats think the Democrat’s top priority in Iraq will be getting the troops home.
Could Sen. Mitch McConnell’s Shilling For Telecoms Become An Issue? |
| By: Cliff Schecter Wednesday July 9, 2008 8:11 am |
David Donnelly and Mark Nicholas thinks so, and they lay it out in a piece on McConnell’s steadfast support for “telecom immunity” in today’s Louisville Courier-Journal:
Follow the money. An analysis of campaign finance data provided by the Center for Responsive Politics shows that employees and the political action committees of AT&T, Verizon and Sprint have given $219,485 in campaign contributions to McConnell and his Bluegrass Committee.
McCain Needs To Stop Making Jokes About Iran |
| By: Cliff Schecter Wednesday July 9, 2008 8:04 am |
If you thought the out-of-tune Beach Boys song was bad, well:
Sen. John McCain hasn’t had good luck joking about Iran. But he tried it again Tuesday.
Responding to a question about a survey that shows increased exports to Iran, mainly from cigarettes, McCain said, “Maybe thats a way of killing them.”
This, folks, is why they invented the muzzle.
Mark Begich’s New Ad For “Energy Independence |
| By: Cliff Schecter Tuesday July 8, 2008 12:10 pm |
This is a vitally important issue in Alaska, with oil drilling often being at the forefront of the conversation (see Stevens, Ted). This ad users humor and an upbeat message to show Begich and his plan in a positive light. I think it is one of the best so far from any campaign this cycle.
