We Are Amused: Condi Plays for Queen

Condoleezza Rice, a classically trained pianist, always wished to play at Buckingham Palace. Last night, her dream came true when she performed a piece by Brahms, her favorite composer, for Queen Elizabeth. She was accompanied on Opus 34  by British Foreign Secretary David Miliband’s wife, Louise on violin, with three members of the London Symphony Orchestra providing back up for the high profile duo.

As Secretary of State, Rice gave two other piano performances, one earlier this year at the Aspen Music Festvial and then in 2006 before a gathering of Southeast Asian diplomats at the ASEAN meetings.

Rice was in London on her way to Brussles to deliver her farewell speech to NATO  leaders. Along with the classical jam, she met with Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Foreign Secretary Miliband.

No word if Condi will continue her concert tour. As she once told the New York Times:

I don’t make money playing the piano
