When it comes to President Obama’s handling of immigration policy almost no one in the country is happy. By a greater than two-to-one margin Americans disapprove of Obama’s job performance on this issue according to Gallup.
It seems in Obama’s attempt to find a middle ground he just ended up in a no man’s land on the issue. He can never be aggressive enough on enforcement to make some conservatives happy, but at the same time he has upset immigration reform activists by not doing enough with executive action.
For years Obama thought being tough on enforcement would be a way of meeting Republicans halfway to build a bridge to compromise. Instead the result was no comprehensive legislation, and no one happy.
