Congressional Republicans have refused to work with President Obama on almost anything. That includes things big, like immigration reform, to things small like fixing minor technical drafting problems and filling low level positions. As a result Obama has been forced to do what he can administratively. This includes things like recess appointments and a deferred action memorandum for DREAM students.
Now Republicans, who have have for years refused to work with Obama on immigration reform, are using the fact that he finally resorted to using executive action as an excuse for continuing to do nothing. From USA Today:
After months of saying Republicans should get to work on an immigration bill, and just a week after releasing a set of principles outlining what that bill should look like, Boehner said Thursday that President Obama was to blame for the inability of his chamber to move forward.
“There’s widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws, and it’s going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes,” Boehner, R-Ohio, told reporters Thursday.
When Obama gave the Republicans time he got nothing. Now that he has done something he still gets nothing but Republican are acting like it is his fault.
