According to an new AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll 70 percent of Americans are “not very” or “not at all” confident that the federal government will make progress in the important issues facing our country. State governments score only slightly higher with 53 percent having little confidence in their abilities to address issues.
Just 5 percent think our system of democracy is working well and needs no changes. On the other hand a majority, 51 percent, think the basic system needs lots of changes or a complete overhaul.
With the least popular Congress ever and growing acknowledgement that the system needs big changes hopefully there will soon be a real conversation about fixing the system.
