Even though problems with Healthcare.gov have been the dominant news story for past two weeks, the bad press has not noticeably changed public opinion about the law. To a remarkable degree people have locked in their opinions and nothing seems to be changing them. From Gallup:

Trend: Americans' Views of the Affordable Care Act

This poll highlights why the Obama administration really has another month to get things fixed. Right now this is just another political fight over a divisive law with people retreating to their partisan corners.

There is still no reason to buy coverage at the moment and basically no one is getting covered as a result of major provisions of the law yet. It is still largely theoretical.

Starting at the beginning of December all that changes. That is when people need to buy coverage if they want it to start at the beginning of January. That is when people will see real benefits or, if the system is not working, you will have people who lost their old policies because they don’t meet the ACA requirements but are left unable to sign up for new ones.

Right now it is still mostly just Washington noise to people, but in a month it becomes very real in a way it has not been before.
