Only in the insane world of the Senate would something like this even be considered a possible tactic. To try to stop an effort to end filibuster on just Presidential nominees Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is threatening to end the filibuster completely. From TPM:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Tuesday starkly warned Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) not to eliminate the filibuster on presidential nominations, warning that he’ll end the 60-vote threshold for everything, including bills, if he becomes the majority leader.

“There not a doubt in my mind that if the majority breaks the rules of the Senate to change the rules of the Senate with regard to nominations, the next majority will do it for everything,” McConnell said on the floor.

McConnell’s threat is basically if Democrats don’t allow Republican to continue the obstructionism that is destroying the Senate they will eventually make this destructive obstructionism impossible.

If Democrats were a normal political party their response should be, “that is a great suggestion.”

Instead this tactic may actually work because Democrats seem to have some pathological aversion to the idea of letting the party that actually wins the election govern. Democrats are terrified of not having someone to blame for failing to implement their platform if they win.

Only in the Senate can you stop efforts to make the place more effective by threatening to support  improvements.

I will repeat for the hundredth time. Basically every other legislative chamber in the democratic world functions just fine without a filibuster. There is no reason the United State’s Senate can’t as well.
