Below is the up-to-date list of the status of Occupy encampments across the country, based on reports from OccupySupply liaisons of the FDL Membership Program who deliver supplies to them regularly.
Listed separately are occupations that have received eviction notices from the city or county, those that have moved indoors, as well as those that are not allowed to have an overnight presence but maintain tents and booths during the day. This week we are also adding a list of occupations camping out on foreclosed homes.
The permanent up-to-date list of encampments can be found here:

About FDL Action
Big thanks to Jane and everyone supporting the vast network of occupations across the country. The seeds of change have been planted and there is no stopping its growth.
Jane is it possible to get a contact list for Occupy St. Louis to get in touch with the Midwest occupiers so they can get them to the conference this March. I told them yesterday at the Lowe’s protest I would ask. Maybe we can discuss it at the Webinar Wednesday. I think this event is going to be huge.
That’s what the weekly liaison webinars are for. If you have info on the conference let liaisons know on the call, and if you have a diary on it we can bring it up so people know where to get more information.
Thanks GO, you’ve been an iron man as liaison to 4 different occupations.
There really hasn’t been too much fluctuation in the overall number in the month we’ve been doing this. I think we started at 61 and now we’re at 60. It goes up, it goes down, but even in the cold weather has stayed pretty consistent.
So much for the “occupy is dead” meme. It’s a zombie that won’t die however.
During the cold and dark of winter is when the big plans for spring are incubated. Large-scale convergences on the nation’s capital and other locations are being planned. Those who believe ‘occupy is dead’ are in for a rude awakening.
I don’t see Occupy Chicago, Occupy Naperville, Occupy Aurora, Occupy Elgin, Occupy Rockford or Occupy Dupage on that list, yet all are currently active, although some only on the weekend. An offshoot of Occupy Chicago is their Occupy Our Homes group who had a big MLK Day push. Occupy Naperville starts with a march through their downtown area and holds the GA in a local church every Saturday. Occupy Elgin has also been doing a Saturday event on their Kimball Street bridge. I’m not as up to speed on the other local Occupy groups or what they are currently doing, other than Occupy Aurora (along with Occupy Naperville) held funerals for democracy on the 2nd anniversary of Citizens United this weekend. Occupy Chicago may have moved indoors as well, but don’t quote me on that! I know they will need to change their tactics based on Mayor Rahm Emanuels very strict new protesting law.
So how about showing a little love to those of us who participate, but haven’t asked for anything from Occupy Supply or others for assistance?
Davos Is Occupied !
You can follow WEF Actions here
thanks Kevin !
amen ghost !
- witnessed that same phenomena during the actions in Madison last winter, where far, far too many declared it over because the stream of dramatic stories and actions appeared to ‘end’ – yet here they are, with a million plus signatures, about to recall a sitting Governor
it really is a marathon and not a sprint
Most Occupy groups have facebook pages. Make a list of every Midwest occupation you hear of and post info of the conference on their pages. chicagogal above gives a list of five from Illinois. They can all be contacted.
Worth remembering. The pampered and overfed 1% don’t do well in marathons.
A member of Occupy Asheville has gotten an expensive ticket for having an open flame, so no more open flames. This means no hot drinks at all during the nights and weekends (I have heard that they can plug in the coffee pot inside City Hall when it is open.) The city won’t give them electricity either.
I bring them hot food (baked potatoes and steamed carrots) on Sunday at 5. I guess having a very large thermos might be handy…..
Thanks Jane, I already wrote a diary on it and talked about it on a webinar. I was just wondering if there was a list I could give the Occupy St. Louis group. They ask me for it so I was following through for them. No problem I will post another diary as the conference gets closer. :)
Thanks Ghost I will give them the list of occupations on Wednesday when I go to their meeting. I am sorry I don’t have a Facebook account for personal reasons. :)
Hey chicagogal are you aware of the Occupy Midwest Conference in March. It is the 15th-18th. Maybe you could spread the word if it is not already and get all the occupations to attend in Keiner Plaza in St. Louis. It is going to be a great event. Just passing along the info. Let me know if you need contact info for occupy St. Louis. They are in the planning stages now. Thanks for your reporting.
Occupy Minneapolis.
Still alive and well. Thrown off of the square at City Hall, currently encamped outside the American Indian Center on Franklin Ave, Minneapolis.
Isn’t that just incredible? No heat or electrictiy allowed. They are going out of their way to be as vindictive as possible.
The excuse that can give is that they are just following orders. Everyone is racing to earn their fascist stripes.
We’ve worked with Occupy Chicago. We did give them assistance when they asked for it. Or at least we thought they did. Our liaison was going to the general assembly and speaking to the people who were empowered by them to deal with supplies. He told us there was a big supply storage space and that Occupy Chicago in fact has asked (and received) assistance from many people, and in fact had received so many supplies that they needed a bigger storage space.
Your information seems to conflict with our liaison’s. Did our donations not reach their intended recipients?
With regard to the accusation that we don’t “love” these occupations, the post in question regards ENCAMPMENTS, as it says in the headline. I totally agree there should be a master list of occupations period, but it’s time consuming just to keep up with the encampments. Maybe you’d like to start maintaining it?

See the first and stunning photo essay here I call “Riding the MAX” about a consciousness-raising exercise that changed some hearts and minds.
