Gotta say I strongly prefer the format of #occupy with the concentric circles and the human mic to the sound system and stage. Nevertheless, the crowd looks huge and vibrant!

Bill McKibben is giving instructions. Shortly the marshals will assist the assembly to circle the White House in color-coded sections (each section has a flag). They will get a text message when the action is completed then return back to Lafayette Park.
His kids are prolly there. It’s gonna be their world. Hopefully they’re smart enough to ask questions of dear ol’ dad.
Each color team will go to a different location around WH and spread out apparantly until the building is surrounded.
I’d love to hear what he’s telling his kids about #occupy.

And to think that back in the 50s I used to sit on the little wall the fence around the WH is embedded in and feed the squirrels. Squirrels without the slightest fear of humans. Fat little guys. Crawl all over ya. Right across the street from Layfayette Park. Until Eisenhower had them poisoned for digging holes in the putting greens on the other side of the building. My grampa hated Eisenhower for what he did to the Bonus Marchers. He’s on my shit list for poisoning the squirrels.

Great Moments in Bitter Irony:
The Keystone XL pipeline is going to be traversing land directly over the Ogallala Aquifer, the water used to make the Great Plains into the nation’s main breadbasket and food producer.
Along with all the known problems of Keystone XL, we can add another: Earthquakes. The Oklahoma quakes of the past few days happen to be right in the path of the Keystone pipeline — and have already been linked, by the USGS, no less, to fracking.
And for those who doubt that fracking can cause earthquakes, a firm doing it in the UK has already admitted it can.
What’s that pipeline made of? It looks too heavy to carry.
IKE is an acronym: I Kill Everything.

Agreed. But I’m not sure if the energy and passion is equal to that of #occupy events. I’m not there, obviously, but it feels very different to me.
I continue to be impressed at how well the Tar Sands Action and the Occupy movement were designed. They are both influencing the national conversation and have members from all walks of life, all castes and creeds.
