The issue which has swept down the centuries and which will have to be fought sooner or later is the people versus the banks. Lord Acton 1870′s
I think we have now reached that point
Go, Jon Walker! Livestream!
We seem to reach that point about once or so every generation. Hard lesson.
With the advent of the ATM and online banking there is absolutely no reason for national banks. Community banks and credit unions can service every need.
Hmm must have missed the other revolutions that focused on the banks and it corrupt monetary system as the root of the problem. Not saying we are there yet, but people are waking up to the true masters behind the puppets
INVESTIGATE WALL STREET
Obama does not have a crystal ball nor reads tea leaves. That’s why there is a DOJ. Obama is only the Presidential Branch. He is not also the Judicial Branch. Who needs to make the request for the DOJ to investigate Wall Street? Who may make the request to investigate Wall Street? Or, should the DOJ be able to see crap, then investigate crap on its own? Why doesn’t the DOJ adhere to the thing that originated in NYC–
‘if you see something, say something.’
Investigate Wall Street. OWS and IWS.
President Obama, here is a lesson in the law: Investigate, try, THEN decide. It is not as though it is a trivial matter.
Let us not forget who owns the Banks, they are actual, identifiable
people. Can someone list the major individual shareholders of Goldman and B of A etc. Is the Sunlight Foundation a good source?
Banks are servants of their owners; if there were actual criminal charges against actual Bankers could that lead to criminal charges against Directors and possibly Major shareholders? You can’t use a corporation and it’s limited liability as a sword only a shield.
Read yesterday about a Bank of America which refused to let their customers close their accounts. Has the world gone crazy? You can’t have your own money!
I have read a couple of experts that say BofA is basically dead man walking. I have personally avoided them for 35 years and I can’t believe anyone banks with them. They rob their own customers!?
meanwhile in Greece
As Bloomberg reports: “The GENOP union, which represents workers at Public Power Corp SA, has blocked access to the building where company bills are issued in Athens to protest a property tax which is to be paid via electricity bills, state- run Athens News Agency reported, without citing anyone.” That’s right: one needs actual physical presence in Greece in order to be able to enact the key component of the most recent Troika “compromise.” Which the government does not have. This leaves two options: risk an all out civil war as G-Pap lets the police out and begins a confrontation between the broader population and the government or, more likely, do nothing, hope nobody in Germany realizes that Greece is doing absolutely nothing to collect taxes, and continue the status quo charade, which is one where Greece is merely a conduit for the ECB to fund Greece so it in turn can fund European banks with interest payments
To date the only Euro Bank to collapse is Dexia which is basically Government Funded with Govt customers so no private (uberrich) investors will lose money. Again, Capitalism will always be the best as long as it has Socialism to bail it out!
Cool of John to report on Occupy DC. Been there couple times, marched last Saturday. Any Firebaggers who live in DC area should come! They need all the bodies they can get. Oh, and donate stuff–they need tarps and blankets.
Peace.
I was wondering when that would happen…
the names of chairpeople and directors is not that hard to find. Example:
http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=71595&p=irol-govboard
Lets start saying names of people instead of Banks, Corporations, Trusts, Funds. Lets list the top 5 individual shareholders of Goldman and UBS. Someone smarter than me (a large population) could make a geneology tree of the top 50 say of the 1%. When they tricked Tiaa Creff into buying their bad investments whose money did Tiaa replace. How did AAA become FFF. Some actual individuals were saved a loss on their investment by the bad acts of the raters and the repackagers of this debt. The SEC should know who they are by now. I know civil lawsuits are being pursued but lets give avarice a name(s).
Wrong.
The DOJ is part of the Executive Branch, not Judicial.
Obama is the boss, Holder works for him.
99ers.
Here is what you need to be demanding as your one big start as THE demand of the people. This ONe thing will give you most all being asked for. It will force the Dems to chose sides and show their true colors as well.
State Banks

North Dakota has a state bank . It is not in debt. Its people are protected from foreclosure. Its private farms are protected from Big Ag. They have jobs and no real unemployment.
This is a clear answer and it it THE ANSWER to address a huge chunk of our demands.
If the Dems endorse OWS, let them prove it by awarding all the remaining 49 states State Bank Charters and helping them to get them going. If they refuse, the party should be abolished and sent to sit with the Repubs.

Article re DC Council decision in the Washington Post

Occupy DC website tells how to donate, has a good section on de-escalation too. We’ll take in supplies this weekend.
Thanks Watt4Bob. What is the way for Investigate Wall Street to happen?
Everyone sees it. Who and how to do something or say something when seeing the crap? Please tell me, what is the highest level of the Judicial Branch that is not doing anything? DOJ under the President, yes, however they go after wrongdoers–why not bad banks doing bad loans? Can’t let my learning the wrong organization of the system mess me up for too long.
That’s what the #Occupy movement is about, conciousness raising for the masses.
If only 8% of us (you and me, and the people on this board) are aware that W$ is in control of our government, and using that control to rip us off, then we’ll continue to get nowhere.
The #Occupy the World Movement is drawing masses of the previously unaware to start asking questions.
W$ is not afraid of you and me and the 8%, they’re very afraid that our numbers will grow, and the masses asking questions is where that growth starts.
Best part of this is that another has confirmed that Hohler’s decisions not to go after Wall Street or any seedy bank is very much Obama’s decision. DOJ is strictly a top down organization. Obama calls the shots tthrough his AG regarding who or what war criminals to bad banksters getinvestigated and/or indicted.
And, all the Gonzales, “I don’t recall” stuff was very much top down from W. Bush.
Still, intuitively, thinking DOJ should be under the Judicial Branch given all the ways a president might be able to subvert justice for political reasons.
