The President is hosting a signing ceremony for his Executive Order on abortion today.
Greg Sargent wrote a fascinating post about the incredible lengths the White House went to in order to woo the anti-abortion Democrats to support the health care bill, with endless personal entreaties, meetings and accommodations.
The pro-choice Democrats, on the other hand? Well, the White House released the final language of the Executive Order on abortion to the press (before 4pm, per TPM). Shortly after that, they gave the final language to Dianna DeGette of the pro-choice caucus for her approval (at 4pm, DeGette told HuffPo) – just as Bart Stupak was giving his press conference to announce the agreement. DeGette said she read the final language and finally signed off on it as Stupak was gassing on before the cameras. The pro-choice caucus was furious about it.
Quite a step away from July 17, 2007 when Obama spoke to Planned Parenthood (video):
The first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act
And then there was this:
“Obama does not support the Hyde Amendment,” his campaign staff told RH Reality Check in response to a questionnaire from the reproductive rights group. “He believes that the federal government should not use its dollars to intrude on a poor woman’s decision whether to carry to term or to terminate her pregnancy and selectively withhold benefits because she seeks to exercise her right of reproductive choice in a manner the government disfavors.”
Obama’s executive order enshrines the Hyde Amendment, which had to be re-authorized every year in the appropriations bill.

About FDL Action
F-ing Pathetic.
Like the democrats keep saying “this is only the first step” What are some of the other steps the democrats plan on taking? Can’t wait to see. Maybe denying federal funds for health care to gay people. Women who need abortions are only a small minority so their rights must not matter to Democats.
And don’t forget, Jane, that he signed his first EO early in 2009 regarding the conscience clause supposedly turning over the 11th hour Bush clauses. What it really did was to half ass “order” HHS to write new language for all the clause. (All the pro-choice groups did was praise him. “See he really does care about us” forgiving him then for not fulfilling FOCA).
HHS was supposed to get back to us after a 30 day period open to the public for comment. This was his first sermon on “common ground” BS that he signed just before his big Notre Dame speech.
And like I have said before, he is now getting back to us, with the “new protections” he has put into the EO. I even called NOW about the language in the EO regarding Conscience, they said “We are working on another statement.” I saw them say nothing about the conscience clause language in their second statement.
I am really bordering on hate regarding this issue. I just am not one to go there. I think much my stuff is left over from the primaries and GE when Hillary supporters refused to get on the “Unity Pony” when we were told “What are you stupid bitches crazy! Roe will be overturned.”
Hillary had lost. The choice was Obama/Biden or McCain/Palin. There was not going to be a Hillary Clinton Presidency. Quit crying over spilt milk. Hillary as candidate could not sell single payer. POTUS Obama proposed a plan the could pass the Senate and the House, looks like he was right.
The EO changes no law, but allowed HRC to pass. If Hyde ammendment is passed every year without a peep, please explain to me how the POTSU Obama is supposed to change the votes of the people that vote for it every year?
Does it sound like I’m crying? I’m confronting the bullshit that has gone down about “This is what a feminist looks like”. Confronting and crying and continuing to pull out info like the first EO of his Admin regarding a women’s body (which you fail to address that this is his second) are very different.
Many knew the Planned Parenthood
promiselie was out there long ago. To replace apromiselie like that with an EO was a slap in the face. The second came for pro-choice women because they turned the other cheek. If you think we are going to stand there turning our cheeks, you are just a fucking fool. Get the fuck out of the way. Or it makes no difference to me if you stand there and get fucking trampled.
It sounds like you are saying that an executive order has no power? A basic reading of history shows that an executive order can carry a lot of weight in how a law is executed. A president has some leeway in how it caries out the laws passed by congress under Article 2 clause 1. The amount of weight behind an executive order has only increased in the last century.
So to suggest that this executive order is meaningless is completely wrong.
And I voted for Nader. There were more options that your non-feminist or the anti-feminist. Why the fuck would I sell out the principles that so many worked for by voting for either of them! Unlike the principles that you are selling out by not supporting left-wing women in this to regain out footing. Perhaps it is not a principle you held in the first place.
12 men and 2 women. My congressman, Jim Oberstar was one of the fat white guys in the picture with Bush when he signed his abortion shit. At least this isn’t all white guys. We are one of the most liberal places on the planet and no one within the democratic party will primary this guy.
That invitation list makes clear Obama is celebrating a re-affirmation of anti-abortion law.
I vote my conscience always. Unfortunately, elections seem to be decided by people who want to vote for the winning side, afraid their vote will be “wasted” otherwise.
What else can he prostitute? A signing ceremony for an executive order! Who’da thought. I keep reminding myself I voted against McCain, not for McSame. Small comfort.
Yay! Let’s throw a party while we throw women under the bus!
This is absolute madness. What’s the hell’s next? Can we get a party for throwing gays out of the military? How about we do some more immigration raids and throw a big bash when we toss childrens’ parents out of the country?
I think I’m going to be sick.
And if that compromise had not been made, the bill would NOT have passed. The system is working as designed, we have laid a good foundation for universal health care in this country. Let’s not get all sad-eyed over the fact that the final bill was not perfect. Lower your expectations, you will never be disappointed. It could have been so much worse…
Hillary is the only democrat that had consequences to her vote. Her vote on the war is what took her out. Since obama did not have a war vote, he was able to lie. Hillary could not.
And how many Senate Democrats did the White House even ask to support a public option? How many House Democrats did the White House ask to support adding a public option to the reconcilation “fix”? Zero. They didn’t left a finger.
The pattern is clear. So what’s to be done?
Boy, I am with you. Until we start putting up candidates on principle, we will not have principled candidates.
That’s right Orahma…you need to reward people like Bart Douchepak for holding up your signature legislation so he could demagogue and a woman’s right to access to a LEGAL medical procedure.
I knew we were screwed during the primaries, when the favorite tactic of the Obama supporters was to call their fellow Democrats racists.
You can be sure they will never deny coverage for Viagra.
First they take away a woman’s right to choose an abortion, what’s next, taking away a woman’s right to choose to smoke?
You’ve come a long way baby.
And what a GREAT plan it is, right down to the EO. /snark
could you please make the points of worse? Nothing in this bill saves lives or money. all it does is transfer money from us to the wealthy, e.g. health care cartel (pimps) so they can transfer the money to their good little whores, politicians, but the pimps always make out in the end. I hate to be so crude, but this bill is going to kill people.
disgusting. plain and simple.
I find the democratic party disgusting these days.
Yep and I can’t count the times I was accused of being a PUMA or a Hillarybot for trying to point out that Orahma supporters’ gloating wasn’t helping. I supported Orahma, (I’m sad now to admit). I reached the decision on the very last day prior to my state’s primary but that didn’t stop me being called all sorts of vile names for having the temerity to suggest that gloating at and being scornful of Clinton supporters wasn’t helpful
According to Pelosi, it’s a Republican plan.
Yup to Iraq regarding both candidates. And like I said down thread, regarding the NAFTA info, he had no vote on that either when saying it was a bad idea. We all did what we did way back then, but the left (and far-left) has to find a way to come back together. For women and all the men that are just as slapped in the face as women are, perhaps in some fucked up way, pro-choice and women’s rights to equality in health care, could be what pulls us back together. I hope to god and goddess so.
Tell us that when you get your next few health insurance premimum increases. Throw women under the bus for the right to pay a lot of money to companies that will still do everything they can to not pay.
He could declare them enemy combatants and make them disappear.
We all wanted a historic moment for our country and the Dem party and for peoples of colors and women and working class poor. It never had to get this fucked up but it did, and I am actually starting to feel more encouraged that we are all going to figure out a way to unscrew this. I am so glad that Jane is not dropping this and is pushing daily (Seems like she has had a thread about it daily).
oh please, I have never been prouder to be a “shrill, gop lovin’,dead ender, firebagger” :D
Way O/T but you DFH’s will cheer:
CA Marijuana Legalization Initiative to Qualify for Ballot Today
On Topic:
WTF is wrong with all these fools. How do you separate a woman’s reproductive parts from the rest of Her and then say You are providing good Health Care…. something is wrong with this picture… Damn Can’t all these Fundies and Kooks leave Women alone and let a Woman can make what decision she needs to make without some asshole forcing their Morals on her? This should be fought as denying a woman’s right to her own body!! You sure can’t separate the two..beside the money that would be used SHE already contributed to in the first place. Who the fuck do they think they are GOD??:?
Let every Woman decide for herself what SHE WANTS to do about an unwanted pregnancy… Hey asshole do YOU want the rest of us to tell you what you can do with Your body?? I mean it is all very troubling… Religion has no place in the Laws of our land that is why the Constitution was created with the idea that:
Words to live by! Hey and if you don’t try you can’t fail. That’s what I always tell my kids.
To paraphrase Reagan: “The most frightening words in the English language are, ‘Hi we’re the Democrats, and we’re here to help.’” I want to write my representatives and say: “As a 32-year registered Democrat, please stop doing anything. You are incompetent, and you are just making things worse.”
“Firebagger” is what they are calling us? Really? How funny! That doesn’t explain the overall quality of the grammar or spelling around here though.
yeppers. oh, and we’re “mean” to POTUS
I kid you not
Absolutely correct! We could have been stuck with a law that enshrines for profit health “care” for the foreseeable future, been compelled to purchase an overpriced and low quality product under penalty of law, gives billions to the health insurance industry while preserving and expanding and setting in stone the billions we already give to the pharmaceutical giants, all while chipping away at a woman’s right to chose a LEGAL medical procedure….
Oh. Wait…..
ayfkm ??
more concessions to Big Oil/Coal and Wall Street in Climate Change and Entitlement Reform. . . wherein no doubt, the ‘real progressives’ will tell us how pragmatic it is and to calm down ’cause “we’ll fix it later !”
I like it. And I have no doubt that they will come up with something far worse for Jane. We need, or I intend to, support her for pushing this. She will be back on the MSM pushing this when all the EO worshipers die down. If they don’t die down on the EO worship, then you know their nerve endings are firing and they know women will no longer STFU.
I hove no ideer wot y’all r tawking abot.
Nice imagery.
Jane actually gave credit for the improvements to the status quo on Monday, while writing a strong polemic on the flaws, both substantive and in the political environment.
I think on balance this bill will help more than it hurts. You and most of the purebred pups (I really hate the “firebagger” moniker) disagree.
i don’t see how keeping the anger levels up will change congressional behavior. It hasn’t been working – the battle to make HCR better was lost in spite of a lot of work to let Congress know progressives wanted a better bill.
How does withdrawing support for PCCC members that ultimately caved get us a better Congress? Please explain the plan.
Those that pledged to vote no if there wasn’t a public option caved. Lucy took away the football. Quel surprise! Ultimately they looked at what was possible in the Congress we have, a Congress and political landscape dominated by lobbyists, not by grassroots. And they made a decision that this mongrel pup thinks was the right one, to pass the damn bill.
It seems to me that the political environment needs to be a focus. And we’ve got a very easy target – the Supreme Court’s decision on Citizen’s United. That can provide tons of fodder against the current corporate dominated policy formation environment.
The anger over caving just feels toxic to me. I see natural allies at tenterhooks because of it and I despair at them working constructively in the near future.
Is the alcoholic covered if he needs a new liver as a result of his choice?
What about chemo for the person who chooses to smoke?
If a woman want’s to choose a legal abortion, why shouldn’t it be covered?

could easily be ascribed to the usual craven veal pen/WH choreography, but it could be due to the Accountability heat they’ve been feeling from certain, um, progressive quarters
wow, just now saw PP is doing the same. doesn’t PP usually hold off until General Election, leaving state orgs to endorse in primaries ???

I’m done with the Democratic Party. Sent my donation tho The Green Party of the United States during Obama’s signing ceremony yesterday, and I’m looking forward to working with the Greens at the local level.
So, Obama has a signing ceremony today for his abortion-rights rollback EO with Bart Stupak as a guest of honor. Sorry, I just can’t stomach this sort of thing anymore. It’s all just so ugly in a surreal kind of way.
I just can’t collaborate with that kind of shit.
I am a big proponent of “Abolish Corporate Personhood”. And I am trying hard to figure out a way to tie that into the “new protections” for insurance companies that the EO extended with the conscience clause. The way I see it, is that EO gave Insurance companies Corporate Personhood over our bodies. They get to be covered for not offering a procedure that only effects women and not get sued if the claim “conscience”? Hell, we know they have no conscience in the first place.
I thought that they had a majority of democrats that wanted the public option? If not, then they were lying and why would we support liars?
Sure!! If you mean by “battle” sending a strongly worded letter that you support a public option without really supporting it, then yes they did “battle”.
It was possible for them to honor their promises to constituents. It was possible for them avoid making promises they could not keep. It was possible to write a bill that doesn’t turn the IRS into a private sector enforcer.
This ‘art of the possible’ nonsense irritates me to no end. If taking the country down the road to fascism really is the only ‘possible’ thing Congress can do, then we have no use for Congress as a nation that claims to believe in democracy.
If a politican lies to you, they’re useless. Better that they be an honest enemy than a fake ally.
Let’s never forget the sight of a Democratic President hosting the signing party for an expansion of the attack on womens’ rights …
… hopefully the proponents of the legislation will suffer at least a moment of shame or guilt.
“You will never be disappointed…”
Holy crap. Hearing that statement is like that moment in a relationship when your partner says, “I still love you, I just want to sleep around. You’re expecting too much of me.”
The appropriate reply is “Yeah, you’re right, I am expecting too much. Good-bye.”
Oooh furious. How scary.
You nailed it!
Lie back and think of England!
So how do we get change when we have a Congress that is useless?
I heard they were going to hand out tee-shirts to the attendees that say “I’m with Stupak” on the front and “He saved my Hyde” on the back.
You’re the one making that assumption, so you tell me. I think we can still make Congress functional if we inspire enough fear that they’ll lose their seats.
Was Biden there proclaiming that “This is a Big F-ing Deal!”?
Oh I’m a PUMA. I only found out what it was well past the primary, but hell yes that’s me.
Party unity my ass.
You own this.
I’m talking about us, both purebred pups like you, and mongrels like myself. We fought to improve the HCR bill.
We lost. Our allies in Congress made promises and didn’t keep them.
Process wise we set ourselves up for disappointment. Getting those promises – what can we do if they break them? Replace those Congress people? Realistically that isn’t in our power. And they know it. We may have some power at the margin to withhold support and put in representatives that don’t support progressive causes. How does that help?
Replacing a progressive that caves in the end with a trogolodyte corporate Republican seems to me to be a strategic and tactical loss. Replacing a Blue Dog with a TCR seems like it could be strategically sound.
But then I’m a mongrel.
“Replacing a progressive that caves in the end with a trogolodyte corporate Republican seems to me to be a strategic and tactical loss.”
That’s very curious, how so? Is it bragging rights?
Great stuff and I honestly mean that. Of course if you were really trying to defend this process with that kind of logic on the other hand, I might be a bit concerned for you and your choices.
I was going to marry the person of my dreams but I ran into this lonely person I could barely stand to be in the same room with. I wanted a raise but the boss told me to clean out the rest rooms during my lunch hour instead. The examples of what goes wrong when someone is constantly compromising what they think to be right are endless.
What better counter argument against something the Heritage Foundation in the early 1990s came up with which later formed the basis for Republican counter-proposals to ClintonCare in 1993-1994 than suggesting that it could have been worse that the Ds passed what couldn’t be passed by the Rs in the 90s?
I wouldn’t write it if I didn’t stand by it.
I’m all for hybrid vigor and proud to be a mongrel.
They are all working to destroy the people.
Drama queens who involuntarily lie like we breathe.
None should be believed, ever.
People must leave the Democratic Party in droves or this will go on and on and on. Do not participate in their charade to take us down.
Turn your back on them. Let them lose over and over and over.
Does it really matter? A Dem President hammering away a woman’s right to choose, then rubbing our faces in it like the little dictator he is.
Could you have ever imagined?
Come on! Leave them flat.
Thanks.
About effing time.
I’m with you clemenza. Looking forward to teary concession speeches and crestfallen supporters.
Heh.
Hey they gave it up and went with people united means actions. Their fucking loss.
Come on. I just had a little too much to drink. I swear I’ll never hurt you again. Take me back. You need me. We need each other. I promise, this time for real.
Nice of the president to gather the list for us. Ladies and gentlemen, the core of the anti-abortion caucus. Start prepping for Casey in 2012.
Right, only to be replaced by more Dems.
And where do you suppose that will get us?
The office of President has become an Executive Dictatorship.
Even if someone says they agrees with us, when it comes down to it they obey the president or else. These people aren’t patriots working for the greater good. They’re career politicians who will sell their soul to keep their seat.
Yup. And yet some think there’s any purpose to allowing dem politicians to pretend they’re actually worth a damn. I mean here we have the dem president having a party to sign away women’s rights to healthcare. Fuck you Obama, you cheap shit little asshole.
A TCR is going to support legislation that improves the lot of corporate power far more actively than a progressive.
I agree with the points made that progressives were able to make this HCR bill better.
I think we do ourselves a grave disservice by not continuing to reach out to congressmen like Raul Grijalva. Replacing him and others like him with a crazy right wing republican gives us fewer people to work with that have any sympathy with our goals.
Obama’s going to last 1 term. I agree that the imperial presidency is an existential threat to the long term survival of this nation, but the idea that he’s going to wield it for much longer doesn’t scare me.
And we all see that he did not sign an EO about the Faith-Based initiative. He did one better and just expanded it.
I don’t care, I’m done with them. This bill was the moment of truth, and now we know exactly how useless and corrupt they are. None of them stood for the people against the insurance companies. None of them stood for women. None!
You want to give them a hug, and a nice hot chocolate?
Fuck that, and fuck them. I am not that kind of democrat.
The POTUS Progessives (Obamabots) think they’re on to something. Booman starts out today advising all to lower their expectations for the fights to come. Maybe a simple solution would be mandatory negotiation school for them.
Ha ha!
Chickenheads!
: )
No, I don’t want to give them a hug. I think the purebred pups might need a hug to get over losing this one.
I want Congress to have more members that support progressive ideas. I want the incentives for Congress to listen to grass roots to be stronger and I think that the “fuck them” attitude will marginalize purebred pups over time.
I’m angry that they caved. I’ve been vocal in communicating this to PCCC members. I also get that they were going to cave even during the FDL whipping.
Anger and lack of power isn’t a good plan for achieving better outcomes. Alienating allies will not lead to better outcomes. I’d like to see further improvement and I’m going to keep working for it.
I’m done here for today.
still gobsmacked that most other hi-viz blogs barely consider this whole matter worth yawning at, if even noticing.
Good luck with that.
Hope you don’t gnaw you own foot off. Come on, you have to have at least hope repressed anger.
Groupthink = Yay!
I didn’t see Randall Terry’s name on the list. Must have been an oversight.
It was reported at yesterday’s “historic” signing of the health for insurance corporations reeeeeform Obama was given so many standing ovations by the Dims present the press lost count. All hail the mighty Ceasar. The fleecing of the American public will continue as planned.
I suspect that there will be a ‘Let’s Take Jane Down Movement.’ I have her back, frail reed that I am, but if we all stand firm and support her, we have a chance of prevailing. Hey, somebody around here has got to tell the truth.
heh
Our traffic surges every time they try that. Dunno why. But we’ve never suffered from one of their smear campaigns — just the opposite. The traffic meter spins, and people stay.
I guess people can smell bullshit and are genetically predisposed to fleeing.
For abortion order, Obama keeps Ceremony low-key; Alex Koppleman; 3/24/10
http://www.salon.com/news/healthcare_reform/index.html?story=/politics/war_room/2010/03/24/executive_order
Didn’t Obama state early on that he wanted the HCR debate to be void of any changes in abortion policy, in an obvious attempt to increase the chances something would pass and not be killed by either side in the abortion debate? This EO does not violate this principle.
Obama was disingenuous in significant ways during the HCR debate, most notably on the public option and his big pharma and AHIP deals. But I don’t see how he was disingenuous on the subject of abortion.
Pro-choice advocates–I count myself as one–need to turn attention away from Obama–he isn’t going to drive this issue one way or the other–and toward Congress. Until we have the votes to overturn Hyde–or not renew it if you want to be precise–nothing Obama does is likely to matter. He will not lead on this issue one way or the other. Talk maybe, but really lead, no.
Someone asked what Obama might have done (or might do in the future) to woo those who support choice.
That’s like asking what an abusive husband who’s screwing other women plans to do to woo his battered wife.
Obama – The Tiger Woods of government.
I will too. Been having backs in this realm for a couple years know. The backlash is horrid.
Behold our Republican President in action.
If I’m supposed to keep compromising until the cows come home, then I stand by what I said yesterday: I might as well apply to the Hemlock society and be done with it. Spare me the compromise nonsense. This HCR is a POS that will haunt this country for years to come, and we the people, not the obscenely wealthy plutocrats, will pay and pay for it.
BHO just sold my body down the river. Unsurprised, but angry? Yeah, you bet! Lousy is what it is. I’ve been fighting all these years, and this is the result in the early decades of the 21st C? For shame, Mr. President, For Shame – yeah, I know: he has NO shame. None. Happy guy, ain’t he? He got his, so eff the rest of us.
Permanent Republican Majority – achieved.
An African American Democrtic President, holding a ceremony for an Executive Order signing (WTF? Shall we just call him El Deuce’ and be done with the whole president thingy?), on an anti-abortion measure that will really hurt the women who need help the most.
Ah, yes. Obama’s America.
Making sure everyone knows their place.
Cynical.
Very, VERY cynical, for a purveyor of “hope and change”…
President Obama strikes me more as an “end justifies the means” kind of guy…
Whatever you call the version of truth that the the Clintons tell.
If I may put in just my 2 cents? People are sick and tired of partisan politics. Period. The last 30 years or more (and not just in the US) of this “My party either way” is what has caused where we all are today. Same as voting the lesser of two evils. It’s not working for anyone except politicians and corporations.
So when people read blogs that are obviously partisan, attacking another like FDL, your damn right it gets their attention, and they say……..”FINALLY a website that isn’t just another Dem or Rep talking point site”
Now that’s a keeper!!
I went to Planned Parenthood’s sight to see if they had anything posted.
they did. Under the title “VICTORY”
my head is spinning.
I saw that. Wow. Just. Wow.
We did not lay a “foundation” for Universal Health Care in this country unless you believe that endless subsidies to PRIVATE insurance companies is the answer. Increases were made to Medicaid eligibility as proposed by AHIP (America’s Health Insurance Plans is the national association representing nearly 1,300 member companies providing health insurance coverage) – proposal page 10, #5.
http://www.americanhealthsolution.org/assets/Uploads/ahipreformpolicyproposal.pdf
The insurance companies wanted the American taxpayers to take on more of the “poor” as they are less able to provide the insurance companies bottom line of large profits. We the taxpayer will then also “subsidize” these same insurance companies (corporate welfare). Insurance companies already know how to get around the ‘pre-existing condition” – one example, accuse someone of “fraud”. Does this bill bring about strong regulation of the health insurance industry to prevent them from abuses in the future –no. Do you honestly believe the corporate owned Obama administration will be “fighting” for any kind of “robust public option” in the future when they didn’t even do it this time? This is the “foundation” we are building upon??
Here are the real winners:
http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/Stories/2010/March/22/winners-losers-health-reform.aspx
P.S. The “public option” will be used for years in the future as a carrot during elections. There will be something to the effect of “just vote for me, I will try to get a public option”. But, thanks to our corporate run White House and Congress, it won’t happen.
Even the President of NOW stated the following:
Fact: The bill contains a sweeping anti-abortion provision. Contrary to the talking points circulated by congressional leaders, the bill passed today ultimately achieves the same outcome as the infamous Stupak-Pitts Amendment, namely the likely elimination of all private as well as public insurance coverage for abortion. It imposes a bizarre requirement on insurance plan enrollees who buy coverage through the health insurance exchanges to write two monthly checks (one for an abortion care rider and one for all other health care). Even employers will have to write two separate checks for each of their employees requesting the abortion rider.
This burdensome, elaborate system must be eliminated. It is there because the Catholic bishops and extremist abortion rights opponents know that it will result in greatly restricting access to abortion care, currently one of the most common medical procedures for women.
http://www.now.org/press/03-10/03-21b.html
Planned Parenthood is celebrating the “regressive” action of the health care bill on women’s reproductive rights?? WOW.
This is a big fucking deal.
What is all this shite about lowering expectations. WTF? This is the party that started out with majorities in both houses, plus the executive, plus a huge mandate for substantive change…? Absolutely freakin’ worthless, pathetic, appalling. *shaking head *throwing up hands. I just don’t get it. I mean crap, they’ve not just sold out their base but apparently forgotten how to legislate as well. What happened to the the tough old school type Dems? Dennis Kucinich? Pffft. Obama? Pelosi? Double and triple pffft. Arrgh.
By “convincing” people that they should lower their expectations, Congress and the White House don’t have to make the necessary changes to the bill which actually helps the majority of citizens. The question is whether “we the people” will accept this. IF the goal of this so-called reform truly was to help the “uninsured”, then they could have expanded Medicaid and allowed those with “pre-existing” conditions on the Medicaid roles and provided funding for it. The insurance companies don’t want to insure these people anyway. Instead, we the taxpayers will be rewarding an industry which has a despicable policy of denying coverage to people with “pre-existing” conditions with taxpayer subsidies. Amazing and truly sad.
This monstrosity of a bill is absolutly ONE SCREWED UP POS ! These sorry ass wipes took my money and time campaigning for them with promise after promise which turned out to be nothing but bold face lies, but this time around the low life cum guzzlers will see not one red cent nor even a moment of my time. They can all drop dead and that goes double for “THE ONE”
They keep inviting charlie wilson’s corpse to these events.
Yeah, gotta love the old lowered expectations argument. Why expect the best?

hillary and obama are TWO SIDES of the SAME coin…
just as Lieberman, Emanuel, Rubin, Summers are the flip side of the SAME Wolfowitz-Chertoff-Mukasey-Greenspan-Bernanke-Geithner-Paulson coin…
WARMONGERS, TAX-CUTS-for-WEALTHY, DEREGULATION of financial markets, and BAILOUTS – the DIRECT EXTORTION OF TAXPAYERS, for the benefit of the wealthy – ALL.
(and, yes, it IS significant that in the above names, only 2 are, you know, gentile. the glue that holds this anti-American alliance together is indeed the AIPAC/Neo-Con/Likudnik alliance.)
hillary, obama, AND pelosi ALL take their marching orders from the Goddamn-Sachs Neo-Cons.
pelosi is a little LESS BLATANT, or more clever about it, than hillary
(who practically flew out of her socks in her rush to SUPPORT and APPROVE of the anti-women, Wall Street, Neo-Con & CIA instigated MILITARY DICTATORSHIP COUP in Honduras)
….but pelois is more CRIMINALLY CULPABLE, more criminally corrupt, she has transfered nearly TWENTY TRILLION American taxapayer extorted dollars in “BAILOUTS” to the GoddamnSachs vampire squids…. and she won’t give us a DIME’S worth of accounting!
in a nutshell, Emanuel, GS, and the AIPAC lobby tell ALL THREE – obama, pelosi, and clinton – what to do, anything you read to the contrary is smoke & mirrors.
#1. From 2007 – 50 year D.C. insider, and “it takes one to know one” racist bigot Pat Buchanan, declares Nancy Pelosi to be “The AIPAC Girl” –

#2. Pelosi’s 2006 DCCC Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman, RAHM EMANUEL, NEARLY SABOTAGED the Democrat’s 2006 election prospects… by RAMMING REPUBLICAN candidates into Democratic Primaries, and attempting to PURGE anti-war, pro financial-regulation, outside of D.C. Dem. candidates from the election –

It really is amazing, the REAMS upon TONS upon TSUNAMIS of evidence to support the notion that Emanuel, Rubin, Summers, Geithner, Lieberman, Harman, Feinstein, Schumer, (et al) are NEARLY IDENTICAL in agenda with the Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Chertoff, Mukasey, Coleman, Cantor (et al) crowd (which is to say, THE DICK CHENEY and KARL ROVE agenda) – and how many zillions of commentators DANCE AROUND those simple facts.
