Kobe –
On Tuesday, I was present with Democratic Members of Congress and witnessed an historic ceremony at the White House, where President Obama signed health care reform into law. I am pleased to have played a role in helping to make this important moment possible.
For we Democrats united to prove to millions of Americans that we could rise above our disagreements and elevate the health of the people of our nation to the highest priority. Even those of us, such as myself, who felt the bill should have gone farther understand the great progress that Democrats have made in overcoming extraordinary resistance to chart a new beginning for our nation.
And our continued progress depends upon your continued financial support for our party.
Contribute $5, $10 or more before our critical FEC deadline March 31st.
Today the American people have a renewed confidence in our Democratic Party. Today the American people know that we have made an important first step toward reforming a health care system that has been unaffordable and inaccessible. Our ability to take further bold steps will depend upon you and your support.
There is much more work which needs to be done, not only in health care, but in putting America back to work, helping to keep people in their homes, broadening educational opportunities, making credit more widely available to our small businesses and working for peace. Now we can approach all of these challenges with the knowledge that we have the ability to deliver. Now we can set our sights higher, our horizons broader to achieve great things.
On Sunday, March 21st, we Democrats proved “Yes We Can”. Your support will help Democrats in Congress echo the power of the people across the land as we strive to create the America which we know is possible.
Thank you,

Dennis J. Kucinich
United States Congressman
Where’s my money, Dennis?
Or is this what you meant when you told Lawrence O’Donnell “we’re looking into how to pay people back.” Just send me a check, Dennis, so I can make copies to send to all the other faithless progressives you joined in a Rahm-induced lemming-like march off the cliff. I can’t wait to send one to Donna Edwards, who suggested the whole “carrots” approach last summer.
I might send her some actual carrots too.
hmmm. An echo of the “power of the people” would be miniscule.
can’t…stop…laughing
ECHO!!! …. crickets
just saw Jane’s DSM-IV ‘tag’ – dead solid perfect
I would hope they sent this letter to their real constituents, Mr. and Mrs. Corporate Personhood. Real cute. Shamelessly begging. Even begging their arch enemy, the fucking retards.
Mr. Corporation can easily write a check for 2 zillion dollars if he wanted to. Dems don’t deserve money from the “little people.” They just screwed the “little people,” big time.
Besides, I’m saving every penny I can in preparation for the SS checks I’ll never see after paying into it for about thirty years.
And I urgently need every penny right now to cover the imminent, double digit increases in my health insurance premium.
I don’t know whether to laugh or throw-up.
I swallowed hard to make that contribution to DK. He lasted just long enough to allow me to view that sliver of hope thing. Much tougher sell this day forward.
Today the American people have a renewed confidence in our Democratic Party
They do?
Technically, you can probably do both, although I wouldn’t advise it.
“further bold steps”
The mascot speaks!
It was reported at yesterday’s “historic” signing of the health for insurance corporations reeeeeform Obama was given so many standing ovations by the Dims present the press lost count. All hail the mighty Ceasar. The fleecing of the American public will continue as planned. Thanks Dennis.
Just another money-grubbing toady like all the rest.
In the words of my ancestors: May you catch the cholera.
Maybe not money-grubbing but certainly chicken shit.
It’s being reported that more than 10 members of Congress have been threatened by the modern day brown shirts. Beck was reported to tell his followers to hold their fire and wait for “progressives” to fire the first shot. Why isn’t this domestic terrorist in Gitmo?
Dennis, you sould us out.
Go collect from your corporate masters.
Not real carrots?! They’ll spoil… just send her some vitamin A capsules.
So glad to hear that Judas got his thirty pieces of silver. Now he can go hang himself.
Where’s my money, Dennis?
He’s working on it:
Contribute $5, $10 or more before our critical FEC deadline March 31st.
Hey – it was good enough for Bernie Madoff…
OBAMA: And don’t even think of primarying me. KOS will make a fool out of you so fast for calling yourself a progressive it will make your head spin.
Why do Democrats keep begging for money from individuals who can’t afford it? Clearly they are going to get most of their money from the DNC/DCCC/DSCC and from their new corporate friends.
I wish they would quit taking money from people who are actually sacrificing something important to give to these sell outs.
Without Judas there would have been no “Messiah.” Obama looks in the mirror and sees the new Messiah.
Hey, me too! Maybe I’ll grow a beard, or maybe get some of those Jim Jones sunglasses…
Hmm.
Contracts we need Contracts vote for National Healthcare, Ending both wars in a year, a Jobs program like and as big as FDR had and you get my cash.
Vote against it I get my cash back plus 10% interest call it a voter Derivatives Contract Obama has not regulated the Market and Corporations can now give like people do so why can’t we act like corporations.
The idea that cash does not buy votes in Congress?
Thats a myth lets shame the Supreme Court and show them that We the People can sell our Political Contributions and Votes.
Okay Dennis, take a deeeeeeep breath……Now…Hold it until I send you and the DCCC my check.
Primary Mr. Bipartisan and his Chicago mob.
“I wish they would quit taking money from people who are actually sacrificing something important to give to these sell outs.”
Well said, joanne. Kuchinich probably bought a tie or something with the money he got from me. Perhaps a bikini wax.
Or the Charles Berlitz boxed set.
Gotta.
By the way, has Markos apologized to Dennis?
LMAO! For threatening to primary him or deliberately mispronouncing his name?
Lmao, good one. The Charles Berlitz box set occupies a long, long forgotten corner of my mind.
: )
OK…yeah that’s much better than my version of this story on Seminal..not having the E-mail in front of me didn’t help.
So damn sickening.
Since I unsubscribed from all the Dem entities I don’t get emails anymore. I get snail mail. I just put all the shit into the reply envelope and send it back.
I will probably get slammed for this but, I think Representative Kucinich IS basically a good person who unfortunately was used by the President himself to get a bad bill passed. This works out well for President Obama for a number of reasons: 1) he was able to get those who called themselves progressives in Congress to back the bill, 2) he is less likely have real competition in a primary by Representative Kucinich for the 2012 election because he is now viewed by many progressives as a “sell-out”.
I just don’t know whether Representative Kucinich understands the extent to which he is being used and/or whether he cares.

are there any field dispatches from today’s Denver/Bennett action ?? not a peep on FB
Your integrity cannot be compromised unless you allow it. Dennis sold out.
The Chicago Mob? No these guys are Pretenders da Mayor would never take a whole year to pass something big at the exclusion of everything else da Mayor does not worry about laws or whines we don’t have the votes.
Chicago is the City that works when we want something one way or another we get it. Admitting defeat whining in Public that we don’t have the votes is Weakness!!
We hate Weakness. Obama and Rahm are the kinds of guys da Mayor bumrushes past to get stuff done.

I don’t believe for a minute Dennis wrote this letter. It doesn’t sound like him. Jane, you should call him up and ask him.
Markos is waiting for his appointment to the Obama administration. Then he’ll apologize.
Lets see if the Washington Press or the New York Times ever catch on about what a real Chicago Pol is about.
If you want to be passive-aggressive about it, you’ll also include some heavier item(s) like washers. They have to pay more postage that way.
I agree. In part, I wanted to point out who “gained” the most from this…and it wasn’t Representative Kucinich. I’m not sure there is anyone in our current Congress WITH integrity. Certainly it is gone from the White House.
Shorter: Fuck you, Dennis. Just fuck you.
Here’s the thing about DK that bothers me the most…
As long as there is a community of “progressives” who are fine with DK, Lynn Woolsey, Grijalva, etc., etc., etc. capitulating on their promises to their biggest supporters, those electeds will continue to capitulate on each and every issue of importance.
The group of “lefties” who say that they want progressive reform and give these reps cover for their serial infidelities to real progressive principles are sabotaging themselves. It is a downward spiral.
Dennis is a good guy. He carried the PO baggage for us until the “Dem Party Line” was announced. He opposed a hell of a lot of pressure for a long time. Dem leadership and caucuses knee capped almost everyone at the pleasure of Obama.
The blame should rest on Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the leaders of the caucuses. This was a party decission.
I would like to see him drop the Dem affiliation and be an Independent. Not sure if that is possible if you are elected one way.
That’s what working within the system to bring about change is all about! Aren’t all the good liberals at FDL going to meet this call to “action?” I was told yesterday that you all are very proud of your accomplishments. You’re not thinking of stopping now when they need your money then most are you? It’s so close you can just taste it can’t you? All it takes is a few more dollars and a few more and better Democrats.
thanks ! didn’t think to check Twitter
The unsubscribe link to his letter doesn’t work. Whaa..!!!! I was immediately drawn to that once the letter came up.
As put by reply by #46:
Fuck you, Dennis. Fuck you.
Your day is done. Welcome to the machine.

I’d throw Sanders into that mix as well. Team Obama, given the place we are in the election cycle pretty well eliminated the chance of progressives from being able to do anything to change the current course. DK and a few others could get tossed out by their voters and Rahm would probably celebrate, having eliminated a few f#ck!ng r%t&rd thorns. Better chance to get some more corporate oriented pragmatists.
Sanders irritates me as much as Woolsey. A lot. They kind of have a similar shtick going.
It’s important to keep the base’s impoverished so they can keep the hope fires alive and if they get too uppity, well, there’s not much you can do when you are broke, barefoot and pregnant. Sure a protest march here and there, but really, what corporate MSM outlet ever covers that anymore unless it’s a teabagging.
Good point. If they get you to give it to them you’re not using your money to support someone else. We have a winner!
Kucinich should have left the party long ago. The mere fact that he didn’t says something about his lack of real principles IMO. I always bring this up to Ron Paul supporters who claim to hate the Republican Party. If Paul is so principled and such a great, principled man then how can he possibly live with himself while an “R” is next to his name.
I wonder how many fundraising letters go out to beloved pets? I think I’ll get Abner on some just for laughs.
After some thought I realized that to have real Derivatives Contracts there must be buyers willing to bet the Dems won’t keep their campaign promises. Imagine the embarrassment of the Dems when we join the GOP and the Paulites in betting against Obama:)
I have no problem losing cash if the Dems prove me wrong. But will Rahm and Obama be able to find anyone willing to bet on the Dems getting anything big done they campaigned on in a year?
People are still losing their homes. People are still losing jobs. Billions for war are being spent to fight in two countries that are not Pakistan where Ossama lives.
Just those 3 areas that voters care about we could design 1 year contracts for but again can we get anyone to bet the other side of the trade?
If not we win a Big PR lack of confidence in Obama and compromise.
Lets see the Free Market at Work I’m sure we can get Ron’s People in on this one.
“The chart below tracks the daily close of the ‘Obamacare’ contract at Intrade — which has been live since January 21st — and compares it against the contract representing a GOP takeover of the House. The correlation is positive (and statistically significant) but the magnitude of the effect is small: Intrade infers that Republicans would have had a 40 percent chance of taking over the House had the Democrats not passed Obamacare, but about a 47 percent chance now that they have.”

Dumbasses.
Dennis knew exactly what he was doing. He even stated on DN that this is the first time his vote would make a difference, so he didn’t want to rock the Democratic party vote. He did the same thing in ’04 when he endorsed Kerry after the primary. He is a phoney, just like all the rest of the “progressives”.
Every one of them should be challenged in their next primary by a real progressive.
I’m sure as more details of the bill get known those numbers will change for the worst.
Never thought I’d say this but I think Dennis should skip the next presidential campaign. We don’t need any more hypocrites running for office.
Hollow. Empty. Useless.
No doubt. It provides Viagra to sex offenders, doncha know.
LOL!
Beautiful!!
I like it.
I unsubscribed from Dennis’ emails when he betrayed progressives and included the comment that people who abandon their principles are morally bankrupt.
Frack Me! Rahm does want to lose control of the House and Senate the Lefty Blogs will not and even if we wanted to could not back this bill just for that alone.
Anyone who says this bill is a good idea either has not read the bill or is in favor of giving sex offenders Viagra.
Dennis you just voted for something that could make even you lose your seat.
Transparait if that stays in the final bill the contract on the Dems losing the House well the odds are way, way to low.
Kucinich = just another whore. Just another reason why we independents dispise your 2 shitty political parties.
This one really hurt. I could not care less what one calls oneself; Representative Stephen Lynch (D-MA) voted “No.” (Does anyone know what terminology he uses to describe his political bent?)
Heh, little more to it than that, but you see what I mean. The dems are not allowing any amendments to the bill, so the reps are adding amendments to force dems to vote against them. Such as the ‘no Viagra for sex offenders’ amendment. Then they can use the vote against dems in Nov. Hell, looks like there’s nothing in it to prevent sex offenders from being prescribed Viagra so maybe they’re right.
From here?
http://news.firedoglake.com/2010/03/24/dems-vote-for-viagra-for-sex-offenders-and-other-stories/
Thanks I think we can just do what intratrade does only we focus more on policy and things like ending the wars in a specific time frame 1 year. Or Obama lowering unemployment to 7% in one year, or Obama stopping home foreclosures 40% in one year.
We focus on things we have researched more than anyone else. The GOP lies, Obama lies, the Media lies they read their facts from Lobbyist Faxes.
Its time to go Thales on them and show them the truth can make money.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thales
People asked Thales the First Western Philosopher what was knowledge good for so he made a bet on Olive Futures.
Maybe its Time the Lake went
MedievalPrimeval on their sorry @$$es!Chutzpah.
Thanks, cbl2. Sometimes they’re just for me. But I’m always happy when someone notices.
It does seems like a trick but then again whats in the bill to stop this? Maybe Dems could offer their amendments like Americans convicted of ordering and approving torture get no healthcare?
People who lied about WMD or outed American spies get no healthcare?
He is collecting from his corporate masters.
That’s what this letter is about. He’s saying, “If you donate to the DCCC, the DCCC will support my campaign, and if I manage to get reelected (if the voters in my district believe Democratic Party’s spin about the bill, that it’s good for them, “a good start”), then I will deliver to the corporations instead of the people who think I’m for their causes.”
You paid???
It’s time to get Kucinich out of that seat, even if it means it goes to a Republican.
Then in 2 years, run a real progressive who isn’t beholden to the DLC.
All that keeping Kucinich in office is about now is letting him have a career at our expense.
It doesn’t matter if Kucinich is a good man or not. I’ll leave that to his minister to decide. What matters is that he’s unable to deliver on his promises and can’t achieve our objectives.
We need people in Congress who do keep their word and can achieve our objectives.
I wouldn’t reject the idea that those who are threatening members of Congress are Democratic political operatives pulling a false flag type of operation.
It wouldn’t be the first time that politicians (or even CIA and FBI) staged operations like this to influence the electorate and try to coalesce citizens around their political leaders.
As a “Democratic Operative” fourth class, I assure you I have had no communications regarding this.
But that’s all I can say.
I just threw up a little in my mouth.
I have had the same thought and was wondering if anyone else had the same suspicions. I am concerned about the rhetoric of the TP but haven’t seen much violence from them—just yelling and questionable signs.
Rep. Kucinich’s statement about H.R. 3962 from last November is still on the Web.
Bet that will be scrubbed soon.
The blame lies with all of them.
But of the 83 members of the Progressive Caucus, 77 pledged not to vote for any bill that didn’t have a public option. Every one of them caved, except Eric Massa, and we saw what happened to that poor dumb schmuck.
The bill passed by 3 votes. Had the 76 remaining members of Congress kept their word, that bill wouldn’t have passed.
There is no meaningful health care reform because this Democratic Party does not want one.
Actually, that’s a brilliant idea. I didn’t fall for it in the first place, so I’ll save my carrots. (Any time a politician says, “Give me money so I’ll do what’s right,” I get suspicious.)
Isn’t that what Alan Grayson is doing?
I’ve been on DK’s mailing list for a long time, so my disappointment in his cave was bitter. I sent his office an angry and insulting email after his vote, demanding I be removed from any further communication. He was the last one I actually believed. As i have reflected on another thread, his vote was totally unnecessary given that every other prog had already been put in the bag and it was up stupak to decide what cya was required to get his little band of brothers aboard. Nevertheless, Obama, rambo and pelosi couldn’t leave any lefty standing lest the overarching problems with this bill be pointed out by a dem. I don’t know how they got Kucinich to switch, I doubt that they could have bought him as he has never had support from the party, in fact just the opposite, as he was required to contribute to the dccc.
Anyway, I don’t believe Kucinich is a sellout in the usual sense. I can’t see big corporate campaign contributions coming his way nor some fat-cat lobbying job waiting for him. He will still be toxic to the pelosicrats and after this vote they will respect him even less. God knows, maybe he just got punked. Obama didn’t get to be pres on such a thin record within a disunited party without tremendous political skills (and the pritzker’s connections, of course) both on the stump and one-on-one.
Now I fell more pity than anger for Kucinich. He has alienated his small but loyal constituency without gaining any real respect or favor from crooks who actually run the party.
so dissapointing
“Every one of them should be challenged in their next primary by a real progressive.”
I agree. We have such a corporate run Congress and White House that a “true” progressive for the citizens has a difficult time. We need to get representatives for the citizens or we will continue on this path of wealth inequity that will destroy our country.
I have felt the same way as you do. I believe President Obama and Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel are purposely trying to destroy any potential “progressive” candidates in the future from running for President. The Obama administration has some MASTER political manipulators.
What I find truly scary about our future as a democracy is that we have a corporate and ruling elite running our government and the few people who DO try to stand up and represent citizens are marginalized by not just Republicans but also DEMOCRATS.
We’ll make it easy, Dennis:
a) send $ to FDL; or
b) send $ to National Association of Free Clinics.
Ah, Jane, I see you use one of my tricks: insert name of pet, thus fund-raising requests, magazine subscription renewals, etc. are “routed” to him/her.
This brings up one of our favorite family stories; one winter evening a telemarketer called and asked for “Kuro S*****,” our dog. Without thinking, my husband replied, “she’s out peeing in the snow.”
Telemarketer said he’d call back later, “at a more convenient time.”
Based on what I’ve seen, I don’t want to fund any more “bold steps.”
Time for progressive organizations to take their political fund raising escrow!! Instead of donating to 77 worthless faux-progressives, the money raised for public option pledgers would have gone further if it was to be divided amongst only those congress-parasites who vote correctly in the final tally. I think Kucinich, being above all a Democratic Party loyalist, would have caved regardless, but perhaps a few younger Democrats would be enticed by the prospect of getting a quarter, or a third, of a significant chunk of funds, rather than the low four-figure amounts. Just going on what ActBlue raised, $430,000 for something like 65 Reps, the result is of course less than $7k per Rep. But if 55 had pathetically climbed on board the Party train early on, the remaining $43k per Rep would be a decent enticement in contrast to the funds offered by the DCCC.
No vote, no carrot!
Good idea, Teddy.
i was going to suggest taping the “return postage paid” envelope to a brick.
Look at the piece of gall which just landed in my inbox. I’ve removed the web address so as not to let him benefit.
Dear MissouriMule,
Dennis Kucinich. The son of a truck driver. His family had to move 21 times when he was growing up.
Dennis Kucinich. Elected to the Cleveland City Council 41 years ago, when he was only 23 years old. A candidate for Congress at the age of 25. Elected mayor of of one of the largest cities in America, at the age of 31.
Dennis Kucinich. He refused to sell a municipal utility to private interests. And the Mafia put out a hit on him.
Dennis Kucinich. Seven-term Congressman. Twice a Presidential candidate.
Dennis Kucinich. Legendary fighter for the common man. Articulate champion of justice, equality and peace.
I’m Alan Grayson. I’m a first-term Congressman. I will have to live to 100 to accumulate a record that even remotely resembles the accomplishments of Dennis Kucinich. But I’m honored that Dennis Kucinich wants to help me in my reelection campaign. And he wants you to help, too, by contributing at ____________.
If you care about justice, equality and peace the way that Dennis Kucinich does, then please help. ________ Help now.
Alan Grayson
Yeah, I just got that piece of crap too.
Re Kucinich’s DCCC letter: they’re gonna need to find a whole new bunch of addresses, because I’m thinking that anyone who supported Dennis before isn’t going to be responding positively now.
Makes it easy to not respond to Grayson as well.
Here’e the take from Ian Welsh over at Calculated Risk
http://www.ianwelsh.net/progressive-enablers/
he does well to point out the hypocrisy of most lefty bloggers.
Great link John. For those who want to know what a “true” progressive sounds like, read Harold Ickes letter from 1938:
http://www.progressive.org/wx041409.html
dennis is trying to get new donors to pay off the old donors who demanded their money back when he broke his promise to the old donors.
oh yeah, that’s a track record sure to attract new donors…
So, Kobe hasn’t managed to get off the mailing lists yet. Gives me hope that my impact on the world will outlive me, too.
Hey man, Kucinich is one of the few guys sticking his head out there. Why chop it off? Who else is talking the talk? Vent your anger on the true corporate prostitutes. Unelect them!
What good is being a “good guy”? He has a schtick — it’s being the last guy to give in. But he always gives in. Bernie Sanders schtick is that he is a “socialist.” Ha!
Judge these people by what they do, not by what you think is in their heart.
You cannot control what these politicians do. But you can control what you do. Do not enable their bad behavior by making excuses for them.
