But Blanche Lincoln voted for TARP in 2008. . . Bush’s TARP.
Repressed memory, maybe?
She is just a liar, she can’t help it, look who she hangs around with.
“It’s my nature.”
ya woulda thunk she had seen Liar! Lair! By now at least! Anything a public figure SAYS is always available for fact checking sleuths to find on the Internets!! Comeon she isn’t a rookie is she??!
It’s feeling like Blanched is gonna hafta switch to the Connecticut for Lieberman Party to stay in the Senate.
Halter seems to be much farther along than Ned was by this point, although he doesn’t have millions of his own to spend and the dynamics in AR are much different than in CT. We all gotta pitch in to win this thing!
She’s going to have to lie like a Republican to both get away with governing like one and win their votes…. which is clearly what she’s trying to do.
Delahunt’s retiring…
I still can’t get over the fact that there only appears to be one black kid in that ad.
Interesting parallel…here in TX conclusion is that Hutchison, usually quite popular, was so badly beaten in primary b/c of her DC connection, votes, etc that Perry hung on her. Looks like Lincoln may not be able to escape so easily herself. Nice..
seems that with the “these days” and “some in my party didn’t like it” lines, she’s talking about the Obama admin bank bail-out.
Does Arkansas have a sore-lieberman law to prevent her from running as an independent should she lose to Bill Halter?
I’ve been asking around,… no definitive answer yet.
Sure seems like she’s banking on something like it.
What?!? Blanche Lincoln (D?) Wal-Mart LIED?!? The dickens you say! She sure seems determined to not be pushed left by a primary challenge, despite the obvious success that Arlen Specter has had by turning left.
Someone should make a Commercial that Features a Blanche Lincoln look a like with all the Kids wearing logos and clothing that features all the corporation she works for.
” One Tough Lady” quote should have read “I am K Street Working Girl”
I love that idea! You know Walmart supplied the little cars the kids were in.
On an off topic, personal note: After over a year of unemployment without real prospects, I’ve been offered an interview next Monday morning for a good position doing medical research again. This is very preliminary but it is the most hopeful thing to come along since I was laid off last January. Though I’m not supposed to be aware of it, it seems that I’m the only one being interviewed for the position and they have already started my security clearances into motion again. On the other hand, they seem to be working very hard to be non committal and not get my hopes up too high.
I’m very tempted to turn down the interview. After all, Jon Kyl is right. I’m SO enjoying making a quarter of what I’m used to and having to jump through random, flaming hoops to remain eligible. I mean, just because I have to put off a dental appointment because I had to buy tires, I still have it sooooo easy that I am loath to give up my leisure time.
like breathing.
Yep, just nothing like the pleasures of leisure time…;)
You go girl…good luck
The difference is that Lieberman had solid (albeit misguided) support and ended up winning in the general. Unless she really rebounds in the polls which seems unlikely, Blanche could not win as an independent, she would only be playing the role of spoiler.
Not ruling that out as a possible motive but it’s a lot of money to spend just for petty revenge.
Congratulations and GL, Margaret.
Or should I say, who the hell needs teeth anyway? *s
Thanks. Yeah, I think I’m caught up on my reading for the next decade or so…
Hey newtonusr. Nice seminal post this a.m….. rather prescient of you.
Ditto [to RevBev], Margaret.
Will keep fingers crossed for you.
Good luck, Margaret.
Didn’t the Republicans also run a cipher candidate and tell all their “people” to vote for Lieberman?
Thanks all. God, I hope it works out. Apart from being employed again, I’d be doing SCIENCE again. What could be better?
Yes, and Rove Sembler raised millions for Lieberman.
Yes, they did but there weren’t enough crossover votes to explain LIEberman’s victory. Like NARAL, there were many Connecticut Democrats fooled by Droopy.
And of course there’s the story out today that Alan Grayson would win the REPUB primary in his district if held today! Amazing (yes, he paid for the poll but still a stunning result). Seems voters like it when someone stands on principles and can defend themselves. Hopefully the DeeCee DNCers are finally noticing that the “centrist” schtick actually hurts Dems.
Doing science in a United States that does not give science and superstition equal credence.
Seriously though, I hope you get the job, Margaret.
Congratulation pending, Margaret!
Well, scientists know better at least. And some lay people. Science is about the only thing that is still cutting edge in this country, though the Repugs are trying to make sure we lose that too.
I seriously hope Bubba stays out of the race…his presence would not be very “politic” of him IMHO. Though his presence had the opposite effect for Hillary, I think
Well, the good news in TX was that our State Board of Education may have become a little more intelligent; we can hope.
Really? Wow! That’s outstanding. Yep! I’ve always said that people may not like where the Repugs are going but they at least give the impression that they are moving in a coherent fashion. There are a great many people who will take a crappy destination over a roll of the dice.
He endorsed her today according to Huff Post.
UT prevents most of the extreme excesses of that board. There is no way that they are going to put material in textbooks that will require Texas students to have to take remedial courses in order to attend UT, no matter how apoplectic those bible thumping, conservative lemmings get.
Yeah….says he did it sometime back….I didn’t know…hope he’s sorry.
You have to wonder if he and Obama have looked at her poll numbers.
Pffft! They don’t care about poll numbers. They are convinced by the Rahm Emanuel school of Democratic “thought” that liberals will shut up and vote for the people the party endorses, overwhelming evidence to the contrary notwithstanding. When these theories become conventional wisdom, they lose elections, big time. The Howard Dean era is over and the Tim Kaine catastrophe has begun.
Clinton endorsed her a while ago. His spokesman today said that Clinton is standing by the endorsement.
Yeah. Wierd, but nice!

Just wondering which one of those kids is playing the part of the beloved Blanche Lincoln?
Terrific ad, Blanche… Terrific! Self-projection much?
Keep smiling, though.
Her strategy must be, you will vote for Blanche Lincoln, because her message is sure stupid.
http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/03/02/arkansas-pennsylvania-primaries-will-test-incumbent-strength-in/
I haven’t laughed as loud in a long time as I laughed when I saw that damn ad!!!
The banjo music in the background! Is this her attempt to appear “folksy”?
And then … the finale … “I approve this message because I don’t answer to my party … I answer to Arkansans!”
BWAHAHAHA!!!
Translation: “The liberal voter base of the national party is making me their pilot project on chasing the snakes out of Washington. I am on the defensive. EEEEEKK!!”
O God The Sooner She Is Gone The Better.
I mean, Christ, she really, really was expecting to get away with all her antics in Washington in an effectively uncontested primary, wasn’t she. And now … now … she is having to take her general election donations early to try to defend herself against a well-funded candidate who is going to hang her out to dry in front of the party’s primary voters in Arkansas, who are probably seething at her for what she’s done and DYING for an alternative. I bet she really, really was counting on the state’s primary voters to have no real alternative but to vote for her or vote for a nobody bozo with no chance to win, no money, no nothing.
Accountability … NOW!!!! Get out the pitchforks and torches, its time for Blanche Lincoln to hustle her buns back to her plantation and stay there for good!
Sheer gold, I tell ya!
“also said Lincoln, a self-described seventh-generation Arkansan, is too much of a hometown girl for the “corporatist” label to stick — and in any case that’s not necessarily a problem in a state so dominated by agribusiness.”
Sheer gold! Corporatist is as corporatist does…
Jane, she clearly says *more* money. “I voted against giving more money to Wall Street.”
/s
Damn. We might as well pack it in and mail back that $4 million or so Halter raised in a couple of days. It was a good effort at least! Sigh…
what you’re gonna end up with is a republican Senator, not just one who votes like one half the time.
how is anyone far left gonna win in a state that went for McCain over Obama by about 58-38?
he hasn’t gotten it yet. the 3mil plus from the unions hasn’t arrived or it went someplace other than into his campaign treasury according to Halter.
She’s talking about a vote at the beginning of 2009 to not release the second half of the TARP funds. It didn’t pass.
Are you tapping into Nostradamus?
Are you saying that Bill Halter is far left? Seriously, WTF R U talking about?
I’ll ask you, since you seem so smart. Do you think that Blanche Lincoln properly represented the good people of Arkansas when she hindered HCR? Do you know what the public option polls in that state?
And furthermore, what is the difference between a Republican and Blanche Lincoln?
Please tell me… I’ve got time.
Wait a minute. She voted against every piece of Democratic legislation she could find and she’s running as a Democrat? WTF? How could it be hard to beat her?
So basically, she voted for millions of workers being retrenched (auto bailout), against health care for her electors (public option) and against the environment (cap and trade) and is boasting about it. It’s to be hoped that Arkansans are not as dumb as this woman seems to think.
usually, I’m tapping into nothing beyond a Grolsch.
and no, I’m not saying that Halter is far left because Halter hasn’t said much of anything about where he stands as of yet.
and no, I don’t really know how the people of Arkansas poll on public option, but I also don’t know that the people of Arkansas feel that HCR is the single crucial issue for them.
Let’s do this step by step, so that people can see what you’re saying…
“how is anyone far left gonna win in a state that went for McCain over Obama by about 58-38?”
“I’m not saying that Halter is far left”
So what you’re saying is that people should vote for Bill Halter. Thanks for playing.
Jane, Lincoln is just stealing a leaf from Obama. She knows he lies all the time too. Good on you for calling her out.
you funny.
Thank you. I do practice, ya know.
and you should keep practicing
I’m trying, I’m trying…
But you never did answer my questions. What up, yo?
gimme a recap on which questions you want answered.
At yer pleasure…
“Do you think that Blanche Lincoln properly represented the good people of Arkansas when she hindered HCR? Do you know what the public option polls in that state?”
“And furthermore, what is the difference between a Republican and Blanche Lincoln?”
I’m kind of dubious on the “properly represented” part, as I did previously answer about not knowing much about how the people of Arkansas feel about p.o. in polls. I saw only one summary saying that overall they were 57% in favor, but never saw anything like the wording or other parts of the poll.
If you’re asking if I feel that Lincoln was right not to go for HCR in my opinion, I’m a bit beyond reform. A couple of decades working in healthcare has left me just about ready for full government funding of universal coverage.
The question about the difference between Lincoln and a republican is too broad to even attempt an answer beyond saying that I liked the job the last republican named Lincoln did.
In what alternate reality does voting for TARP not qualify as giving money to Wallstreet.
The lies are bolder than ever.
in the reality where she said that she voted not to give MORE money to bail out Wall Street and meant that she voted against the Obama admin bailout.
It wasn’t a lie, it was just that the post misunderstood what Lincoln said and meant.
“I’m kind of dubious”
Say no more. I understand the game you are playing.
Not cool.
And it will come back to haunt you. Smile.
I can’t say that I understand what it is that you’re saying.
I gave you a good-faith answer and not any game.
Here, let me be more plain. I asked you these specific questions:
“Do you think that Blanche Lincoln properly represented the good people of Arkansas when she hindered HCR? Do you know what the public option polls in that state?”
“And furthermore, what is the difference between a Republican and Blanche Lincoln?”
…to which I never got a direct answer from. Would you like me to hold your hand and explain to you how this works? Ok, I ask you a question and you answer that question, and visa-versa. Is that hard for you to get?
Let’s try again, shall we…
“Do you think that Blanche Lincoln properly represented the good people of Arkansas when she hindered HCR? Do you know what the public option polls in that state?”
“And furthermore, what is the difference between a Republican and Blanche Lincoln?”
Take your time, and may I make a suggestion that you answer it one by one, and that being straight forward is helpful as well.
Whatever…
I just had to play that ad again.
It’s so funny. Gives me the giggles.
This is just a slow pitch right over the plate for a response ad by Funny-or-Die.
All that was missing was the “wolf in sheep’s clothing” [with the electric red eyes].
So you’ve seen the latest…
http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/f5a57185bd/funny-or-die-s-presidential-reunion
Makes me giggle a bit more than Blanche Lincoln’s ad, but it’s still a close one.
Ok, So I am kind of weirded out by the:
“wolf in sheep’s clothing” [with the electric red eyes]”
…part. But I am strong and I weild onward.
I am Raven. A story that you will tell your grandchildren, if I am lucky. Wait, how does this story go?
Nothing quite like blatantly lying in your own paid advertising. Just like a corporatist, through and through. Maybe bankers will hire her as a lobbyist after Arkansans give her the boot. She’ll fit right in with that deceptive set of shysters.
The filing deadline for independents is 5/1. The primary is 5/18. Lincoln would have to bail before the primary to run as an independent. In Lieberman’s case he had a couple of days’ time after he lost to file again, unfortunately.
My guess is, too, that there’s some sort of requirement on how far in advance of the independent filing date you have to drop your major-party registration (a real “sore loser law”). Say what you like about southern politicians, but southern parties know how to protect their franchise.
Ah, I see what you mean. So what she’s saying is that she for giving Wallstreet 23.7 Trillion in loans, give-aways and guarantees but that’s where she draws the line.
not quite, capt. I think she’s saying that she drew the line a little before that and that the majority of the dems opted for the whole 23t in guarantees and loans.
Fraud is a crime isn’t it?????????????????????? Oh wait, fraud against the American people is how no talent Elite make their living.
Let’s see now Obama raced back to Washington to personally call reluctant House Democrats to vote for TARP after the first rejection of that Bill. Then “our” Senate added almost a $100 Billion in pork to the Bill. (neither Obama or McCain objected to this). Then Obama personally went before the American people to assure us that the Bill had been “improved” with assurances that the money would be properly used and accounted for (completely untrue according to Elizabeth Warren). There were limits on executive compensation (completely untrue). Blanche Lincoln is a hypocrite and a liar. She is hardly alone in this. Indeed, It seems that most of the Political class in DC is made up pathological liars. If they told me the sun rose in the east, I’d have to recheck it to see.
