Glenn Greenwald was on MSNBC with David Shuster today to talk about his Salon piece, in which he states that LieberCare delivers everything the White House wanted all along:
In essence, this reinforces all of the worst dynamics of Washington. The insurance industry gets the biggest bonanza imaginable in the form of tens of millions of coerced new customers without any competition or other price controls. Progressive opinion-makers, as always, signaled that they can and should be ignored (don’t worry about us — we’re announcing in advance that we’ll support whatever you feed us no matter how little it contains of what we want and will never exercise raw political power to get what we want; make sure those other people are happy but ignore us). Most of this was negotiated and effectuated in complete secrecy, in the sleazy sewers populated by lobbyists, industry insiders, and their wholly-owned pawns in the Congress. And highly unpopular, industry-serving legislation is passed off as “centrist,” the noblest Beltway value.
No wonder Obama is thanking Lieberman for his fine work, and Howard Dean is an “irritant.“

Jane have you seen this?

You knew this was coming: Beck now attacking bloggers, with Jane Hamsher first on the list
Well Happy Holidays to all of us. Barack Obama has just sold us down the river. It hurts — really hurts — to admit it, but this Chicago hustler has taken our good hearts and played us for complete suckers. Why do I feel like Tiger Woods’ wife?
This bill is worse than the status quo; it is an abomination. (Again I cannot easily express my disgust that the teabagger crackpots who called it an “Obamanation” apparently knew something that we did not.) $1000000000s to insurance companies courtesy of this smooth talking empty suited liar from Chicago.
KILL THIS TRAVEST OF A PAYOUT TO INSURANCE COMPANIES ***NOW***
What a great piece by Glenn. Makes sense
Glen is a wimp. Jane is not. My money is on her.
Let’s see: Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama on one side; Glenn Greenwald and Howard Dean on the other. And the issue is health care legislation, and our elites.
Tough call, very tough call.
See, what we have here is Rahm and the Democraps believing AGAIN that the base wont go anywhere. Sadly, I fear they are right.
Too many of you WILL still vote for the “lessor of two evils” come 2010 and that will do enough to reward Democrapic perfidy so that they will continue apace. No change, nothing. Just more corporatocracy. More fascism.
All brought forth by “progressives” simply not having the stones to put the Democraps our of our misery. Too many of you are like abused spouses. You take a beating, and another, and another and you STILL just can’t help lovin’ that man and so you will vote for them in the hopes that THIS time they really mean it, that they really will stop. But they wont.
You get what you sow. Vote for them AGAIN at your own cost.
Why on earth would you say something like that?
I totally agree. I’ll quote myself from a former comment because I’m so literate: The Progressive Blok is a great idea, but the progressive blok within a bought off DNC structure means nothing.
I’ll repeat my crazy plan again. I call it the 5/25 plan. Contest five senate seats and 25 house seats. You need one Grayson moneybomb ($300000) to effectively contest a house seat. You need 2 million dollars at least to effectively contest a senate seat. One more thing: you can support democrats and even better third party candidates at the SAME DAMN TIME. One final thing: You do this not only to put real pressure on the democrats you also do it to give people another choice besides the Republican. What’s the old Seinfeld joke about getting girls? You have to be there. Well, let’s be there. You could run placeholder races for 25 grand a shot.
We have to create a third party or build upon existing third parties. There’s the Green Party, which I don’t recommend. There’s the Working Families Party, which is growing and actually elects people. If you wanted to take over a people and offer it infrastructure and guidance then I would take a look at the Pirate Party. I think we need to expand their platforms to college debt forgiveness but that’s just me…

Better democrats doesn’t work. They negotiate like fairies, apparently. You need to operate like AIPAC. They run candidates.
