Word on the Hill is that Harry Reid is trying to cut a deal for triggers. We need to immediately raise money to make a big move against Harry Reid in his home state of Nevada.
It’s all on Harry Reid if the public option is killed. He has the power to make sure it passes using reconciliation for majority rule. If he takes out the public option, it’s because he’s too weak to stand up to the insurance companies.
More than 33,000 of you signed our petition urging Reid to use reconciliation to pas the public option, raising over $15,000 to keep the fight going.
We’re almost halfway there, and time is running out. Help us tell Harry Reid that if he can’t get corrupt Democrats in line, he needs to pass a public option with a simple, majority vote. Please contribute now to make this message heard in Nevada.

Yes, Reid can “get corrupt Democrats in line ….” He can also pretend, like Barbara Boxer, that the shameful “public option” he’s now agonizing over will significantly help address our HealthCare problem. What he can’t do, if he’s still connected to the real world, is expect we’ll forget by election time what he’s doing. I won’t! I’ve pledged here to Jane, I’ll come to Nevada for a week and do my best to help unseat him.
did it. Thanks for what you folks are doing
Yeah, I’ve seen your ads. Unless you are planning to PRIMARY Harry Reid, or for that matter run an Independent or a Green against him, forget it.
Got 5 bucks in my checking acct. Yer gonna hafta wait ’til tomorrow. I’m one of those working class schmucks livin’ paycheck to paycheck. Have never been, and will never be, in possession of a credit card.
I’m not sure I WANT the present Senate HCR bill as is to be passed, and we STILL don’t know what the final Senate bill will actually INCLUDE!
So, going with Mz. Hamsher’s (as I understand it) lead, I won’t make any commitments to support or protest anything until I see what it is I’m up against.
I’d wait until AFTER the Senate finalizes a bill to run ads.
Until then, I’d do major phone banking and emailing and street protests against:
1) Eshoo in general (Senate versions if they exist)
2) Stupak in general (Senate versions being proposed)
3) Any lack of a vibrant PO that starts now, includes EVERYONE eligible to sign on, run by government, and provides direct competition to the private insurers.
There’s a lot of kabuki goin on, I’m not pullin MY trigger at it, not now.
Not for something I don’t even know how it’s fully composed.
Sorry Michael.
What complete bullshit. You people absolutely refuse to accept the fact that some Senators oppose the public option for good faith reasons. Instead you just issue a blanket accusation of corruption.
From now on, I think all politicians or pundits who oppose sending more troops to Afghanistan should be labelled as terrorist enablers, cowards or it should be stated they do so because they don’t care about the national security of the United States or about bringing the murderers of 3000 Americans to justice. Such a statement is no different in any way from claiming that the only reason someone could oppose a public option is because he is corrupt.
I hope you are wearing a bib… dribbling all that kool aid all over yourself in public.
Shame on you.
Until Mz. Hamsher solidly and tenaciously endorses third party or indie candidates in her television appearances, this ATM is closed. Millions for defence but not one cent for tribute!
No, I won’t indulge. Mouth tightly shut.
Heh, yer a well disciplined Pup, you are . . .*G*
The deals are getting cut right now. Reid needs to know that lots of us want a public option and that reconciliation is one way to get it without selling out to the corporate shills who call themselves Senators. I’m in for $25.
OK. I’m in for $100. I consider it yelling in the ref’s face for a bad call. My second choice after reconciliation would be bargaining for something better than triggers. Like insurers have to spend at least 85% or 90% on provision of health care– but with some real strong definitions of what qualifies as “provision of health care”. Folks can talk all they want about having to have a more robust public option or some third party candidate but as much as many of us would like to have more progressive policies in place, demanding this isn’t going to get health care for a single person who is sick and uninsured . Because a truly robust public option can’t pass right now and a progressive third party candidate can’t win in Nevada. The votes do not exist. There are other pieces of this health care legislation that will get uninsured people covered with more affordable insurance. Will insurance companies make out like bandits? Yep. But real people’s lives will be saved because of better access to health care. Why not just kill the bill and try to get something better next year? Because if this is totally defeated, health care reform isn’t coming back for a long time. If we win some things on this one, we can come back and win some more things soon. And although what passes may not be sustainable because of lack of cost controls, we can work on that while millions of folks have access to health care that they wouldn’t have otherwise.
Dear jane, we have to primary many of the dems. So, if Harry Reid and Blachbe Lincoln are a start, i am for $50. Understand, i don’t blame these creatures. I blame the progressives. We need our own party. These people are just doing what their Republican masters tell them. Until the progressives decide to split from these jokes, I will not be voting again. This says a lot, I am an African American and my people died to vote. Sorry, Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and the other unknown names of strong Black folks, but I can’t vote for jokes!!!!!!!
