Jon Walker and I are laughing uncontrollably at the Republicans on the Senate floor. McCain is an angry old crank reliving the last campaign. And Tom Coburn — who never met a spending bill he didn’t hate — is arguing passionately against cutting Medicare Advantage, which Jon Walker recently said “may have the dubious distinction of being the biggest and most wasteful form of corporate welfare in the country.”
Ah, but Coburn wasn’t always quite so enamored of Medicare Advantage. Writing about his own Medicare reform bill, the “Patients’ Choice Act,” Coburn says (PDF):
The only alternative to Medicare bureaucracy for seniors is Medicare Advantage, a program dominated by HMOs, which doctors know can be as bad as traditional Medicare when it comes to doubting their professional judgment.
Kind of like watching Waiting for Godot starring well-trained ferrets.

About FDL Action
Harkin “cost” “hard to know where to start”
“did it kind of strike you that he (McCain) missed the mark”
Sounds like Harkin may have been referring to Liebermann
Dodd “If you vote for the McCain amendment we are right back where we started’
“that vote in 2005 set us back”
Harkin “much of the rhetoric of opponents of health care reform is to frighten our seniors” Health scare
“talk about the amendment before us the one offered by Mukulsky”
“makes significant changes in preventive measures”
“this bill eliminates co-pays and deductables for high cost check ups “preventative services” mammograms, colonoscopy etc
Harkin “battered women is considered a pre-existing condition”
Senator Harkin is ripping it up.
Harkin just seems so steadfast so clear
“yes” “no!”
“yes” “no!”
“yes” “no!”
“no” “yes!”
“oh, OK, have it your way”
Every condition is preexisting if you are sick when you show up at the docs.
You guys are a hoot.
Tom Coburn has given up any pretense of integrity. I suspect he has a coffee can in front of his Senate office for the insurance lobbyist to simply drop their cash in.
Every time I hear that guy speak I wonder who his constituency is that they put up with this guy.
It’s always easier waiting to see Dr. Godot when the U.S. taxpayers are footing the bill for the appointment.
We all have preexisting medical condition that was life threatening. Birth.
Obama
heck, birth is a preexisting condition
Wait awhile. The insurance corps will shortly figure that out.
Well duh, of course it is.
After all it’s the leading cause of death.
Listening to the other side of the aisle rattle off their talking, or scare, points leaves me wondering whether they really do believe all those “exaggerations” or whether they are just so venal that they have not a whit of shame.
My spouse points out that quite a few of them believe in ‘Creationism’ and, therefore, maybe they are fully capable of suspending belief when called for. I am more of the belief that they are venal to the core.
If I have a toothache is my tooth a preexisting condition?
Sounds like quite the show.
Here’s hoping that C&L can grab some of it.
Online ratcheer. The live debate, that is.
YOU FOLKS HAVE GOT TO UNDERSTAND THAT IN AN HMO SYSTEM, (OF WHICH MOST HOSPICES ARE STRUCTURED) IT IS LARGELY THE PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN–OR NURSE– WHICH RESTRICTS ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE AND PROCEDURES; THAT IS HOW THE PHYSICIAN (OR PHYSICIAN GROUP OR HOSPICE) MAXIMIZE THEIR PROFITS.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have dental coverage.
having sperm and eggs is also a pre-existing condition for those faux pro life folks
or as someone said above “breathing” has become a pre-existing condition
