The same day Senator Blanche Lincoln was on the floor of the Senate saying she’ll vote against any health care bill with a public option, thousands of uninsured Arkansans were in Little Rock for a free health care clinic.
Many at the clinic had seen a doctor just a handful of times in their lives. One patient was so ill a gurney and ambulance transport was immediately called. This, in America. In the capitol of Arkansas, the state Blanche Lincoln represents in the Senate.
We decided to show this contrast in the most clear way possible: a video pitting Blanche Lincoln’s floor speech with the videos of sick Arkansans taken at the free health clinic. It doesn’t stop there though: FDL Action PAC is going to run online ads in Arkansas and DC, drawing a sharp divide between Blanche Lincoln and her sick constituents.
You can see one of the ads at the top right of this post. When people click through, they’ll be brought to a page with the following video.
It’s a brutal reality, and shows the clear need for Blanche Lincoln to support a public option.

About FDL Action
Wow. Blanche is gonna blanch. Donated.
As I said on another thread,
Buh bye, Blanche.
When will Bill Halter announce his primary challenge? If he wants to have an impact on Blanche’s health care reform vote to include the public option her constituents favor, it had better be NOW.
Don’t forget to tell Harry Reid to go the Reconciliation route
Saw him the teebee recently. Blanche may have a much larger problem than she imagines.
Where are my manners; thanks for the post Michael. Keep after ‘em.
yup, try contacting him and pointing him to this thread
Gotta love those revered Senate “moderates”. Goes far beyond Lincoln, of course.
Max Baucus is determined to set up a sweetheart deal for his insurance industry contributors. If the free-market is always best for everything, what fear do they have of competing with a supposedly inefficient federal insurance option?
What happened to the “market-based” system that was supposed to solve this mess 15 years ago, the justifier for the death of HillaryCare? — saw a cool site; Balkingpoints ; incredible satellite view of earth
The bill Obama is pushing for will make these people’s lives worse – not better. Bonus FAIL for invoking your Sky God.
you have mail
was just posting this over at his Facebook page
Que?
Isn’t a free clinic even better than Public Option Insurance?
In the video, a man says “Jesus healed the sick. And he didn’t charge for it.”
I’d say we’ve had more than enough participation from the Christians in this process already.
Blanche is nothing more than a Republican. Therefore we have nothing to lose by challenging her in the primary. God what a blatent, unapologetic mouthpiece for the health cartel. Oh and a curse on Bill Clinton for his disgraceful support of this bi***.
Blanche Lincoln is opposed to something she already has: healthcare insurance paid for by taxpayers.
It is nothing short of despicable hypocrisy.
At the same time Lincoln is bought and paid for by lobbyists:
From OpenSecrets.org, her five biggest contributors.
Lawyers/Law Firms $935,845
Health Professionals $801,912
Securities & Investment $629,440
Crop Production & Basic Processing $623,727
Insurance $552,583
This is how “the system” works in Wsshington. And we can’t rely on Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi to substantially change it because they are a part of it too.
Only when progressives are able to mount a grassroots effort to expose this will things start to change. Without that the outraged voters will either back the Republicans in 2010 [as though this will change anything!!!] or they will sit out the election [as though that will change anything.]
Furthermore, our culture is bursting at the seems with ways to distract young people from “politics”. One hundred and forty million flock to see the supernatural movie Twilight. Meanwhile, millions of folks on Main Street continue to endure an economy where they are shit on over and again.
Enough said? If Wall Street set out to deliberately create a population most likely to be oblivious to how things really get done in Washington they couldn’t have created one better then the one that is out there now. If that doesn’t change not much else will either.
Note to Blanche: We are not asking to fund ACORN staffed by illegal immigrants to stuff ballots for a Kenyan usurper to build a liberal indoctrination machine out of irrelevant American flags, Fairness Doctrine pop rivets, metal from NRA guns, fashioned by LGBT and tempered by a faggy chardonnay.
It is a public option. Is Blanche opposed to providing Arkansans with options? Even popular ones?
It’s the South and Christians are a huge part of the demographic there. I’ll bet a lot of those Christians are suffering behind this evil healthcare system. If they can be reached using language that is familiar to them (and eventually garner their votes) I say do it.
Excellent. Just contributed.
Quick question: How do you target online ads in Arkansas and DC?
Also, is the “Blanche Lincoln vs. Sick Arkansans: Who Will Win?” image supposed to function as a link? If so, it’s not working on my end.
click on the “FDL Action PAC” link near the bottom of the post
The image will be a link when it’s published as an ad – this is an example of what it will like it.
As for targeting, you can target down to a couple blocks geographically based on information from your computer. We’ll be targeting the state and DC based on that info.
See what I mean? The narrative is always Republicans = bad, Democrats = good.
And Lincoln is thought to be bad because she is acting like a Republican.
That is a myth. For the health care industry, the Democrats and Republicans are virtually interchangable with respect to the most important pocketbook issues.
Sure, the Democrats in Congress now are opting for a “reform” package that is better than the Republicans. But that is only because we focus on this and not on the yawning gap between what the Democrats promised us during the 2008 presidential campaign and what they are delivering on now. That and what every other citizen of every other democratic republic around the globe takes for granted: the belief that decent [not perfect] health care is a right accorded to them as a citizen.
We do not have a democracy in America when it comes to basic economic and foreign policy. We have Wall Street and the military industrial complex. And we have a mainstream media that concentrates its editorial policy on everything but that.
Thanks! Between the “Reconciliation = Majority Rule” petition to Reid and this idea of a video pitting Blanche Lincoln’s floor speech with the videos of sick Arkansans taken at the free health clinic, let me just say that FDL rocks!
That’s right, if she get’s something for nothing, everyone else should too.
Welcome to another day under the command and control of The New World Order.

About time the Left stopped pulling its punches:)
Agreed! “That which you do onto the least of your brothers is that which you do onto Me” JC I feel would make a great next ad, even in blue states.
That’s the way to go; shameful contrast.
Now, run reality and rhetoric contrasts showing Obama (in cheap markets they’ll be picked up for free by the MSM) demanding he behave like a democrat and his actions reflect the Party Platform!
Democratic Republic?
I would really hate to have Jane Hamsher for an enemy. Blanche needs to go hide somewhere but she is very exposed,
Don’t forget the flip side: “That which you did not do for the least of your brothers, you did not do for me.”
wouldn’t he in effect be going against the Clinton’s and their sphere of influence in AR ? I’m thinking it’s the only thing that may stop him
Somewhat OT:

Turns out Stupak is a member of “The Family” and lives in the C St. house. It’s not just Republicans who are members, but many of the Blue Dogs, too. Heath Shuler’s another one. I caught part of this interview this PM. Scary shit, and these people may decide for millions what kind of healthcare we get (or more accurately, we don’t get).
I bet Lieberman and Lincoln are commiserating a lot these days
Christians are not the problem, Christianists are the problem.
yes, there is a very real distinction.
I hear you loud and clear. Alas, trillions of American citizens are still completely in the dark.
It’s so nice when the TradMed catches up to emptywheel on these topics. See this and this and this for examples.
The problem is “religious extremists”
The problem is “religious extremists”, and “extreme centrists”.
It makes me really angry when Mary and Blanche are referred to as “moderates.” It’s just not true.
Extreme centrist…exciting vanilla, strikingly bland, etc. Seems so contradictory, yet there is some truth.
Wow, thanks for that latest link…how’d I miss that?
Its shocking watching the absolute corruption/self preservation on display in contrast to the people there in her state suffering. Its such brazen disregard for the people, it makes you wonder, what if anything can be done… will these ad’s really have an impact?
how about just “extreme corruption”?
“centrism” implies that one actually takes a position. the corrupt really don’t have to. they just take bribes.
I haven’t seen one thing that states what her objection actually is. I don’t mean what we think it is. I mean what she claims it to be. Is it just reflexive redstatism, in that she fears that if she’s seen to favour gubmint health care, the crackers will never vote for her?
How about an ad entitled: Blanche Lincoln vs. the huge majority of Arkansans who don’t want the ObamaCare bill? Funny how polls are never mentioned by the left when they don’t come out in their favor.
Why can’t the ad be shown on the teevee? Will it get on there or just be online?
On Line ads? Duh!
FDL Action PAC is bringing a knife to a gun fight!
If you want results, run the ads on TV. Remember, it’s Arkansas not NYC.
I didn’t send money for this effort because I know it will be largely ineffective if it’s not ran on Arkansas TV stations. We progressives have to take a lesson from the right – Do things that run on broadcast TV and then get covered by MSM.
To bad a really great, hard hitting piece like this one is essentially going to waste online…
Are you some kind of in-the-dark teabagging moron or what?
When the poll asks “Do you want Obamacare” in a bible thumpin’, gun toten’ cracker state it’s gonna result in stats that say a majority of those polled said “NO”. They only poll pick-up truck drivin’, trailer trash NASCAR fans going into WalMart for Christ sake.
Get with the program and stop being such a sucker and chump and ask some questions about who pays for a poll before quoting it chapter and verse. I know that is hard for a talibangelist but try anyway…
