So, what’s a Majority Leader to do? After all, he is the leader of the majority. Harry Reid can let a thoroughly corrupt minority of his caucus block majority rule, or he can do what needs to be done to get around the Caucus of Corruption.
That means Reid needs to whip his corrupt colleagues to support cloture, or he needs to use reconciliation. Those are the only two options for Reid to pass what the majority wants.
In just a few short hours, more than 15,000 people have signed our petition to Reid to use reconciliation. Let Harry Reid know the public option rests on his shoulders alone.
Sign our petition to Harry Reid: whip corrupt ConservaDems into line, or use reconciliation to preserve majority rule.
It’s the only way we can get a public option out of the Senate. Let Reid know it’s all on him.

About FDL Action
.
Will “Give ‘Em Whine” Harry be a speaker at Netroots Nation this year? Since it’s happening in his state during his re-election campaign, I think it would be all neato for him to get all chest thumpy and shit. You know, fire up the base with his patented whispery style.
It could be his Phillistine Speech, where we all get beat by the jawbone of an ass.
Excellent job on Countdown, Jane. Nice to know we might hold those who took the pledge feet to the fire.
I missed it. What happened?
Does anybody truly believe that Harry Reid will stand up for the majority here? Give me a break.
Can anybody remember Harry Reid ever standing firm for anything?
This is a joke.
Harry will roll over just like he always does. We will not get a PO and and the Dems will lose big time in the mid terms as they rightly deserve to.
60 seat majority? What a freaking joke. Who’s bright idea was it to build a so called majority with republicans masquerading as Dems? The Repubs haven’t been this powerless in decades and they still roll us.
Epic fail.
Does the Dem leadership actually think we’re going to make to effort to vote when the Dem leadership throws us under the bus?
If the conserva-Dems filibuster, Reid MUST take away their committee seats, especially chairmanship seats!!! Reid has absolutely zero credibility as any kind, sort or variety of leader if he doesn’t.
Enough is enough. The democratic party is absolutely useless. With the greatest majority either party has had in decades they have done absolutely nothing. As it is impossible to create a new party in winner take all duopoly, we need to create a new progressive label with its own logo+slogan, within the democratic party(i.e.”progressive democrats” or “populist democrats”) that will in effect serve cohesively, have a chairman, primary every non-progressive, unless some sort of electoral deal is struck with the Democratic party leadership (i.e no primary contest here, BUT on condition that you shall not challenge our progressive in another district). This will enable progressives to remain engaged, and truly transform the democratic party from within. It must be a true entity within the democratic party. It should build off its base in the Northeast to ensure that corporate dems do not undermine the party in pure blue states such as (Carper, Lieberman).
Progressives in congress should negotiate whatever is necessary on the public option to get some deal done, (thereby essentially giving up on the battle) but then declare war on the Democratic establishment. This may be short term suicidal, and lead to one term for Obama, but the time has come for the democratic party to assume a real identity, that is not a simple negation, if not assimilation, of every right-wing talking point.
Jane was on with Lawrence O’Donnel…
Just about 10 minutes ago. I’m sure you’ll be able to see it soon.
Got Jane’s email today and signed the petition. This was my message to Harry:
“Senator Reid – I’ve been hearing the so-called ‘pundits’ on the TV shows say that American citizens (moderates, independents, liberals and progressives, etc) will accept the fact that you “gave it a good try” even if the public option doesn’t pass. I, and millions like me, am here to tell you that we will not be forgiving whatsoever. If a bill with a public option does not pass, it will mean a major loss of the electorate for Democrats in 2010, and a return to Republican majorities in both houses, because we will be voting against you and the turncoats. We will not forget this kind of betrayal by a few Senators.”
Betcha there will be video soon.
I’m thinking someone owes someone a somethin’.
Cool minds and all.
he doesn’t have the balls to be leader he should go for the 51 vote deal and pass Single Payer and screw them all but he and Obama are to weakeed to do it . WHER IS THE CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN. Answer kick them out in 2010 and 2012 the Repuk’s are right the Dem’s don’t know how to Govern.I am my friends are going to work against them and not vote.
Blanche, Mary, Ben & Joe– The Four Corrupteers.
Harry, I hope your staff have learned to read Jane Hamsher’s FDL on a regular basis. Your choice is this: lead and bring an un-further watered down bill to a vote and pass it, or lose your job as a public employee from Nevada. Period. Otherwise, Vegas and Reno will be holiday spots number one and two for liberals next year as they work the state and work to remove you from office. Do your job or lose it.
If Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel are demanding that you fall on your sword to kill this bill, while play acting support for it – if they are demanding that you find a way to keep this bill from passing so insuresters won’t demand that Obama veto it – rest assured that liberals will support your Just Saying No to their cynical sell out to insuresters.
Harry, I don’t think your political calculus could be any plainer. Thank you.
Blanche Lincoln, Mary Landrieu, Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman must not be allowed to hold the majority of the Senate hostage or abuse their power to screw over health care reform and a public option.
I signed the petition early this afternoon.
At the time, I pledged to make a contribution to FDL Action’s Reconciliation = Majority Rule, which I did about an hour ago.
The amount raised is already $7,900!
Jane should move the goal up to $20,000.
I have gotten to the point where I can’t hardly follow this story anymore. The corruption is just too much. I almost wish this would fail as I now anticipate that whatever comes out of this will be nothing like actual reform. Too bad, I guess I am just naive.
You know, the thing is in my mind, there’s a binary choice going on here for Harry, as far as we the base are concerned.
0 – He gets a PO through, without any Dems helping the Republican fillibuster
1 – He gets a bill, no PO, with a filibuster assist to the Republicans from Lieberman, and maybe the other conservadems, so that’s why he says he has to trade it away.
I think it depends on the White House. Depending on how Rahm leans, is how Harry will cave, and since I don’t think the WH wants a PO, it will be binary option 1.
Our (the base’s) response will be to take Harry’s job away from him.
That’s what I think is going to happen. He’s ready to retire.
Signed! :) With a comment to Harry
Koz is coming to Harry’s hometown? Bwahahaha!
I lack the skills to put Harry, Obama or Rahm on the sofa, but it’s pretty easy to predict what will happen on election day with an uninspired base.
Has anyone asked Sen. Bernie Sanders or any other members of the Democratic Caucus in the Senate to sign it?
I hate to be a pessimist here but I think we all know until we have meaningful campaign finance reform NOTHING WILL CHANGE. The corporations will continue to dictate policy. Those of you who think otherwise are kidding yourselves. The corporations will never allow campaign finance reform to be passed.
Keep in mind Obama and his little buddy, Rahm, care little about the content of the bill as long as he has “something” to sign which he can then claim as a glorious victory for the American people. If Reid allows the corrupt Dems to kill a public option it’s because he’s following the unspoken lead of Obama and Rahm..
Don’t threaten Harry. After all these years of capitulation, nobody believes in the word of the progressives, anyway, and at any rate it’s a poor way of getting what you want. “You better pass this worthless PO, Harry, or we’ll fire your butt.” Uh-huh. Here’s a better thought: just primary him.
Only somebody like Harry would need bipartisanship to whip votes within his own party.
The Cabinet of Dr. Howard Dean
With all due respect to Jane and thanks for her yeowoman’s effort, it’s clear that real reform that breaks Big Insurance, Pharma, U.S. Chamber, etc.’s stranglehold on health care access in this country is a myth.
In the dance between government and corporate interests, it’s all kabuki theatre, all the time.
And because politicians don’t even pretend to serve the interests of their electoral constituents, people will stop pretending to vote soon enough.
The Senate is an antiquated body whose time has come for it’s elimination. Take away it’s power similar to the House of Lords in Parliament. Why do small backward, corrupt states control the destiny of the majority of the American people?
Swampland (Time mag’s blog), which cites this FDL’s push for reconciliation:
Don’t threaten Harry. After all these years of capitulation nobody believes in the word of the progressives, anyway. Just move against him. Progressives need to stop pleading before the Emperor and start acting.
Money is the fuel for politics. In a few short years progressives have organized and have raised millions for our own candidates. We do need meaningful campaign finance reform. Until we finance enough candidates to get this done, it remains a long shot. For those who can afford to, head over to ACT BLUE and kick in a little something something.
It is not to early to begin looking for a primary challengers for not only the corrupt Dems in Congress but for Obama as well.
The fact that a public health insurance option is still on the table is because of the hard work of Jane Hamsher and all of us who continue to speak out loudly every day to keep it alive. We know what we’re up against. And we know that we’re making a difference.
Btw, I agree with you about the need for meaningful campaign finance reform .
:)
So that those states which permitted slavery before 1861 could continue to permit it. Before 1861, of course.
Being nice has worked so well, hasn’t it? We must be in this pickle for other reasons. Politics is a contact sport.
Mr. Reid, like most Congresscritters, cares most about who can pay for their re-election and who will work long and hard to make it happen or to oppose it. Everything else is commentary.
Yes, describing that reality in kind words is useful for day-to-day politics. But we are now in exremis. There won’t be another moment to improve these tentative reforms of health care if we don’t win significant concessions this time round. Euphemism and gentility mean nothing, they merely support the status quo, if they aren’t backed up with money and commitment to support or oppose what Mr. Reid wants most, which is to stay in office. He could, of course, do a Johnson: announce that he won’t seek re-election, then work like hell to pass this bill and perform a public good that sitting Congresscritters deem impossible.
I just described the “either/or” approach to decision making, which I wouldn’t characterize as a threat.
That being said, I couldn’t agree with you more. Not only Harry but others should be primaried as well.
It is acting when progressives make clear to the man who has life and death control of this bill will face hard choices from the left – not just from this president or the screaming, obstructionist GOP – if this bill fails to pass with credible reforms intact.
Between you and Earl @14, it’s a pretty clear picture.
Harry has to produce SOMETHING, to be sent to final committee/conference with Da Hause.
They now have cloture to move ahead in debate, with more dark back room dealings to come.
That lends cred to a further reduced PO of any value. A useless one, for all intent and purpose.
Is it the best we can get at this point?
To resolve Senate affairs on this, Reid can hope for 60 cloture on what exists now (not likely Blanched/Liberfuck).
He can hope to change what exists now, for cloture of 60 approval (sell out of the PO completely or water it down to acceptability for any opposition from Lieb and Gang Of Four OR More ConSrvadmbs).
He could pull the reconciliation gun and send it to a committee, one which I don’t yet understand will be selected or determined, much less HOW that’s selected or determined.
Let’s dwell for a moment on that issue . . . does the committee of origin get the honors of finalizing the legislation? Was the committee of origin at this point HELP or Senate Finance?
Cuz if it’s Senate Finance, they will gut the PO or ditch it, I think we can all agree that’s THEIR goal.
So, NONE of the Binary options, or one’s Earl posits, or I toss in, seem likely to generate anything worth of shit.
What’s my point?
This is one of those hugely pivotal moments in history that shape careers, that shape legacies, that lift politicians up and that drags politicians down.
Are Harry Reid, Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel gonna risk choosing the wrong side of history and become WORST than bumz overnight with 70% of the polled american public saying ROBUST PO!?!?!?!!??
So that’s MY only key question left.
I’ve left out the part of once Senate is done, they gotta conference bill, because history says Senate always supercedes House in this type of process, so Senate version or end result is likely pre determined.
Oh, one last thought . . could the Senate OR the House in conference possibly say NO and scrap the whole process, yet? Force a do over?
How can we be what, 3 to 5 steps from a bill on the WH Desk, and not have a fucking clue what might yet happen?
Interesting as hell, aint it Pups.
Kelly, Earl, thanks for the thoughts, I’ve been hammering this all day in earlier threads, but now have wrapped up ALL of my thoughts in one comment thanks to you two, and of course, earlier today, Hugh.
And all the other Pups comments and insights, of course.
Phreakin astounding, we’re this close and we have NO idea how it will all come down, yet.
*G*
anybody buying this headline, in any meaningful sense?:
Schumer: We’ll go it alone on healthcare
me neither.
I didn’t see it as a threat, so much as inartfully worded. People like Harry are too concerned about the 10-15% group of independents, hoping to secure their votes by irritating the hell out of their own base. We won’t have to do anything to defeat Harry, and in fact, if we do nothing he probably will be defeated.
They take long steps to save wear and tear on their $10 loafers and yet tear the crotch out of their $80 slacks.
Shorter: Tripping over dollars to pick up pennies–same difference.
Blanche has a problem with our money? What about the cash she gets from insurance companies? What about her voters her numbers are bad? KO’s healthcare fair seemed to show their is a lot of need in this country for healthcare.
Jane is right her numbers suck a real Dem wins the Primary He or She should have a better chance of winning.
Lemme get this straight:
We can’t have change unless there’s campaign finance change.
The corps dictate policy unless there’s campaign finance change
Any of us that don’t believe it, are kidding our selves.
The corps won’t ALLOW change.
What, we just pee out pants and beg on street corners?
Are you PREDICTING something of gloom and doom?
Can ya be more specific about it?
Or do we just stick out heads in the sands we just peed our pants in and wait for the hyena’s?
Throw out hands up while we pee our pants and wail at the inhumanity of it all?
What?
Change is inevitable, the only thing constant is change.
It may not be the change you WANT, but change is a certainty MORE than taxes and equal to death as certainty goes.
What do we do? Smile and grin at the change all around us, happening TO us, instead of FOR us?
A mass lemming like jump of us all off a cliff bashed and crushed on the rocks below as the sea sweeps us out to be broken up into first shark food and then ocean shit? Nutrients for the ocean we are?
What?
And thanks for your comment ‘MESSAGE’ and the inspiration your comment LANGUAGE provides me to go whackaloon bat shit crazy on it!
*G*
Rahm must be screaming right now:)
the US congress is going to make us buy insurance from insurance companies that keep their anti-trust exemption?
the dementia of our “representatives” has moved to a new level.
I say we focus subconscious, telepathic wrath on Rahm – there has to be at least one scanner amongst the Left.
What Sirota said about “Uprising” last year, before election night, is still true today.
The point being people really do want change. Not changing shit doesn’t mean they still don’t want it!
We will continue to want it and continue to work for it, and the incumbents should just wake up to that fact.
Wrath on Rahm I think we have been doing that up to what the Mods allow:) Scanner? We have telepaths here?
Just making us buy health insurance at current rates is a deal killer for me. I want to pay what the French and Japanese pay.
Who knows?
But you can’t win if you don’t play. Could be sleepers out there.
Given Rahm’s insanity thinking he’s the Master of the Universe when he is the most Obvious Chicago Pol I have ever seen not indicted yet? Well that which the God’s would destroy they make mad first:) (I read that in a comic book someplace)
I just tried telepathic wrath on Rahm.
Evidently Sunstein has erected a telepathic “nudge” bubble around Rahm, so nothing is getting through.
Dammit!
Rahm’s plan is working perfectly. He doesn’t want real reform. It would cut off his insider status in the corporatocracy he’s worked so hard to build and maintain over the years.
A view of America from Europe — not that we care about what other countries think of us.
Wonder if insurance agents, when they come knocking on doors peddling their government mandated insurance “plans” will be met at the door by armed citizens of both left and right?
Jane’s video is up. She managed to work in that Blanche Lincoln’s website said she was in favor of a public option. That would be so kewl if that was my catch.
Are you suggesting that Harry Reid will pay attention to the Left? That’s hilarious!
A public option designed by private insurance corporations for 2% of the public does not count as a “credible reform.” What it is, is, it’s a symbolic reform, a chance for Jane Hamsher and her employees to say that they won something from Congress. If they win we need to say to them, “Congratulations! Now get us something real.”
Blanche, Mary, Ben & Joe – The 4 Must-get-theirs !
These Dems are neither going to join nor lead a filibuster. They threaten for a living; that’s how they get their wants.
Of course we need to pressure the conservative Democrats, yet keeping our heads is more important.
Short Version he has already been Scanned his mind is toast and he is deluded problem is the toast brain deluded Press worship a guy we would call a Patsy or Fall Guy in Chi town.
Someone loud, overbearing, people hate and the press normally would love to see fall the Real Bosses never brag especially to the Press.
Channeling Punaise?
Bluetoe, the IRS will be in charge of enforcing the mandate. Their agents will see the guns.
Earl, I’m of a thought that Harry WON’T be running for election!
He’s old, he can’t please the corporate feudalist overlords AND his constituents, and he’s got Barack ORhama on his back like a leech in a swamp.
So, let’s agree he won’t run!!! *G*
But he’ll take a lobby spot AFTER he shotguns thru something shit like, and his legacy in this SINGULAR moment of history he and Barack and Rham are facing will slide to hades.
I believe he’d walk away to lobby, rather try and make something of his legacy.
I honestly don’t think he WILL run.
No matter WHAT happens after this, he’s pretty much gonna be a loser of epic proportions, either to his corporate overlords or to we the people. He’s thru in politics.
History says, he’s never had a backbone, ergo, he dismantles PO completely and gets it thru Senate AND past conference with House and onto Barack’s Desk.
Sigh. And we have no one to punish in HIS case, we have to look to others.
*G* I think we have a few candidates we could pin this shit on, don’t we . . *G*
I mean, I personally need a reason to get up in the morning, and targeting a pol or 50 for blame for throwing this singular moment in history away will keep me envigorated! Still! Again! 30 years now!
Naw you can’t attack empty space dude Rahm’s is an empty head Black Hole Entropy. Try laughing at him:) Laughter has brought Down more Tyrants than Armies although the Armies would argue otherwise:) (thats mine)
Fill the Void with laughter and a Universe some other dimension will be born. I think I remember my Greek myths and physics right it all gets mixed together sometimes.
Harry I’m Kickin’ my ass, do you mind ? Reid !
Great job on Rachel’s show tonight, even though O’Donnell cut you off rather abruptly. I also liked how you sneaked a plug under the radar for the “Audit the FED” measure that’s moving in Congress.
To me, lives matter. And the more that can be covered, the better.
The fight has been totally uphill on this, and to surrender the last piece of ground is unacceptable in my opinion.
The senate probably will trade it away, and that’s where more fighting begins, specifically including kill the bill, deny the Rahm/DLC victory, as step 1, and start over with “single payer” and “audit the fed” primaries as step 2.
I dunna, it’s all these raging voices in my brain and I can’t hear Rahm for some reason . . *G*
Comes riding in on the pony. *G*
If there were, they should’ve used their abilities on Dubya and Dick by now.
The writing’s on the wall today with Obama touting Daschle as his go to guy in really getting the health care job done in the senate. Move over Billy Tauzin, because no one loves their mother more than Tom Daschle.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=120667771
Monk’s Silent Scream I think is the vivid image to sum it up you are right Rahm can’t scream in public about what a great job Jane did in explaining why the Left wants to Primary these jerks.
It was a good job of explaining a complex political strategy in a short time in simple words. Pols in both parties should be sweating cause they always claimed they never could explain complex ideas on tv in simple words under those time constraints.
Jane busted that Meme!
Given many of us fear NO change in this HCR effort, I thing the backlash at the polls and LONG before then is gonna be huge, bigger than any of us might envision.
Why?
Cus the REST of that 72% that WANTS change are gonna get real pissed off and decide they have to do something besides let us progs/libs do all their heavy lifting.
THAT will be a moment when the entire PUBLIC decides party don’t matter, they are getting as fucked over as the rest of us already using our voices, money, time, etc.
I don’t THINK the majority of the public will flock to the 23% Teabaggin crazies, but that COULD be a concern.
But flock the masses will, if this goes down the toilet like it seems to be headed.
Too many too screwed, and further screwing of the masses is NOT gonna make ‘em any more docile or compliant. Not now, not this time, not from here on out as the economy and jobs and lives go to shit for all except the 1%.
Gonna be interesting. Dass fo sho.
Billy’s mom speech it was almost out of my mind but the shadow lingers Arrgh! Daschle is working for the insurance companies now right? Are they recycling the Tactics Billy used 10? years ago?
I vaguely recall a sci fi book I read as a pre teen with an Earth that went nuke and century or so later had an emerging population of ‘parries’ (paranormals) who could fly, read minds, and such. They were hunted as witches and killed, of course, but held the means to save the species.
Another REAL sci fi read had parries leaping into space as a means of traveling space and contacting other sentient beings to guide our more terrestarial space travel in rockets. THAT was a good read.
*G*
Cass the ass?
Harry has it in his hands – he’s going to be remembered as the one responsible for the great Democratic party crash and burn in 2010 if a public option fails. Pity, after only 2 election cycles, control of the senate and house returns to the Repugs.
Nice simple read, thanks, I’ve thought most of that for ages.
But I always tried to read foreign news sources, listen to same where possible, and seek students from foreign countries when in various schools here in US/CA.
Again, nice simple read . . . good one to share!
We’re not ALL crazy here! *G*
Yes!
People focus on Rahm ’cause he’s the hardass. It’s actually Sunstein who has more influence on Obama’s thinking IMO.
good comments here. good jane. good stuff.
Smooth talkin devil, ain’t he . . . DL Piper, and he’s been tapped to lean on Blanched, et al?
Heh, he’s been tapped to lean on the progs!!! To gut PO.
Where’s he GET that 31 million newly insured? A mandate? How can they mandate something the unemployed can’t afford and the sick can’t afford?
Killin me, they just keep killin me . . . good catch on that linky, thanks. *G*
whomever has influence on Obama’s thinking, Rahm has influence over congresspeoples and he hasn’t done shit to use that influence to move any Bluedogs off the dime. It’s the progressives who get squoze by that little potty-mouthed prick.
Just click on today’s NPR story in my previous post. Daschle crashes and burns on his way to HHS hearings because he’s bought and paid for by the corporate health care lobby, then is resurrected as Rahm’s point man to make sure NOTHING interferes with insurance company profits.
Only Rahm could invent health care reform where being uninsured will be a CRIMINAL OFFENSE.
Sounds like Billy Tauzin’s momma is up there in heaven just smilin’ down on the whole morass.
Silent Scream was the ablum cover for The Don Ellis Orchestra on one project wasn’t it?
Daschle: Well, I feel very strongly about the importance of a public option, but obviously, you’ve got to thread that needle, as well. And I think it’s going to be very difficult
Arnold as The Terminator: Fuck you, asshole.
Daschle is now with DL Piper, lobbying for PhARMA!
watertiger is upstairs!
Late Night: He’s Got a Mind Like a Steele Claptrap
Then you’ll like this one, too. The World According to Americans
Right, I don’t disagree with that one bit.
But Rahm is directed by Obama, Obama’s thinking is influenced by Sunstein.
You know, just “nudge” those corporations into doing the “right thing” as that will be enough.
IMO, we need to do something to make Sunstein change his mind/thinking, then Obama will pick up that change, then Rahm won’t have a job.
Just my opinion but thinking upstream to the root cause takes less effort to effect real change in dynamics than changing whole power structures.
Interesting and good take . . . I need to go review why I never liked Cass Sunstein . . . all them voices tied up my hard drive and my RAM . . *G*
Rahm’s just frustrated ’cause he can’t flip anyone off.
Sweet! *G* *waves*
Agreed.
The self-important threats from these self-serving and unprincipled Senators are akin, I think, to Obama and Emanuel and Baucus publicly playing the “bipartisanship” card in an effort to privately get what they wanted all along under false pretenses.
For econ/finance/real estate, nobody beats Ritholtz, calculatedrisk, baselinescenario, and our own Masaccio.
Welcome to D.C. Kabuki Theatre.
Yeah. It all comes back to Obama.
Why I believe that would be Rahm Emanuel, when he was head of the DCCC in 2006.
Don’t know:)
He wishes she could warn her son of the Lake of Fire that awaits him thanks to him how many have died? That would have lived if we had Healthcare for everyone? “That which you do onto the least of my brothers is that which you do onto me.
Billy kept Jesus from getting the medical treatment he needed until he could ignore it no longer and went to the emergency room where he was crucified again with months of Chemo and Radiation therapy where in Japan a regular check up would have caught the tumor early.
SNL was spot-on a week ago when they did the skit: “give him something to sign — anything — he doesn’t care what’s in it.”
I totally agree: Obama would be happy to sign a new charter for the KKK if they could do it in a Rose Garden ceremony.
That answer is simple …. Karl Rove.
If the republicans were really up to reaping what Bush/Cheney, their cronies and majorities in congress sowed over the past eight years, they never would have permitted the manchurian candidate and caribou barbie to be nominated in the first place.
Strategically, it’s brilliant. Dump every catastrophe of their making on a democratic president with strong same party majorities in both houses, brand him as the source of all of their failures, then block any meaningful policy legislation and run against those same failures regardless of what it costs the country.
Mid-terms in 2010 will make Paris 1791 look like a stroll in the park, and Obama’s kumbaya bipartisanship will guarantee him a single term.
The only wild card is if Beck, Palin, Bachmann, Dobbs, Malkin and their teabagger minions scare the hell out of independents, and they turn out big to oppose this new fascism.
Signed the petition, threw $10 into the dog fight.
Some good news and some bad news …
Nothing to worry about treating our fellow human beings like Jesus would, acting as responsible stewards of God’s earth, or being ready to stand before the Judge to answer for one’s life, because it’s all gonna be over soon.
However your description doesn’t bode well for the Apocalypse Revelationists. As I understand it, Christian belief dictates that the second coming ends up with a different result than the first.
Jane, you were magnificent on Countdown tonight.
Now all we have to do is agree on some “secret words” that you can plausibly put into these interviews, but that have a “secret meaning” to the Pups.
First on my list would be a “substitute” for “blowjob.”
give harry a break he is a demo
demos live in fear of repubs
stick a fork in us we are done as a nation
but hey lets build some more military bases around the world we only have 720 we need to double that.
that is the american way of life
money for imperialism none for the sick and needy
ie imperialism????????
few americans understand they are imperialists
very few.
most americans think they are the good guys in the world with all their bases and mega industrial military complex.
go figure
now if we can just get our hands on the iran oil. :-)
Yes. None of us should be surprised when a politician does something other than what s/he says. Good analysis is reading between the lines, er, acts. In Obama’s case, he’s too smart to not realize that the GOP is anti-Obama on Everything. Close to elections (2010 & 2012) he’ll drop suggestions which will put the GOP between rocks and hard places.
He might be mapping out his 8 year presidency while we’re concerned with daily or monthly debates.
Emmanuel will be every bit as responsible for the 2010 GOP sweep as he was for the 1994 GOP sweep. When I heard that Obama chose that DLC douche-bag for his chief-of-staff, I felt all the hours I had spent (making get-out-the-vote calls at my local Obama campaign field-office) swirling down the toilet.
“rolling over”: it’s a feature, not a bug.
