Seems to me that item 3 refers to a very old strategy on the part of the right wing, i.e., to see to it that women of less wealth will have less freedom to control their wombs than will women with plenty of money. That’s been the de facto case for many years. If the state next to you offers abortions while your own state doesn’t, making the trip is easy for a woman of means. For a woman who has difficulty coming up with the rent, not so much.

The Perriello quote in the Blue Virginia article is priceless:

In the midst of a discussion of the health care fight, Perriello suddenly declared, “As bad as the Democrats are at communicating — and I’ve never been part of any organization in my life that is as bad as communicating as the Democratic Party.” A moment later, the freshman legislator explained the source of his ire at the party that had nurtured him: “We’ve been able to take two issues that 70 percent of Americans support — energy independence and health care reform — and turn them into short-term political liabilities, even though I think they’ll be long-term political assets.”

Interesting the difference between a Michigan rep in southern lower peninsula and a Michigan rep in northern part of state…

Schauer’s district has been fairly conservative, only 7 Dem reps to 12 Repub reps during its history, too.

Schauer’s not Catholic, though.
