We can’t compromise with the GOP their base views compromise as weakness. We assuming we want the GOP need to give the 20%ers a new enemy to fight. I suggest the GOP leadership branding the GOP leadership as traitors would be easy just read Al Franken for ideas on how.
If we are not willing to cross that line then we must admit that they will never compromise with us.
