Obama is going to have to come to terms with his failed economic strategists. He is his own best weapon as a leader (he hasn’t completely lost us yet) but why he carried ‘the Clinton White House’ into office with him is something I hope he is asking himself right about now.

Continuing to enrich Wall Street on the public dime is a ‘fool us once’ scenario. We won’t get fooled again.

I can’t stifle the nagging paranoia that the global corporate masters don’t care who is in power as long as they get theirs and they obviously have the balls of both parties well in hand. If the Republicans get back in power, life as we know it will very rapidly disappear. Obama needs to sharply pivot from this ‘playah’ trip he’s on.

I think it’s time that the Left came up with a specific policy agenda, sort of in the image of Gingrich’s ‘Contract on America’ but in the interest of people instead of corporations. There are some great ideas out there, but not a unified effort. What group could organize this and crack the whip? I’m not saying we would win everything we wanted, but I think we would enjoy electoral success if people knew what we stood for. The congressional progressive caucus may be a place to start, but there needs to be national coordination–I wonder if Howard Dean is looking for a job?

Of course, you’re right, Jon. Now why don’t Obama, Rahm, Nancy, and Harry see this. And why aren’t they doing what needs to be done to get back the base? Is the “they’ve sold out to their corporate bosses” theory correct? Are they just out of touch? Are they unwilling to admit that their original political strategy for getting things done in a way that would grow support was wrong?

What is it exactly?

You can put the Obama Administration at the top of the list when it comes to creating the problem. Almost everything they have done since January, whether they know this or not, has eroded the support of the base. Its almost as if they wanted this scenario to play out. I guess they are playing their own side of the field, but sometimes I wake up and think: “Hey are these guys (the Repugs and the Demwits) playing us in tandem like a fiddle while their corporate bosses sit in the background, kick up their heels and relish at what a fine script they have provided?” Tell me we are not in the Matrix, please! Oh well, got to run, there’s a football game on.

So this all boils down to the fact that the only things that can stop the Democrats are the Democrats. What’s funny is that the Blue Dogs don’t seem to realize that they’ll be the first to go.
