A very interesting perspective here, Jane; and one that I’d have to agree with too. Ever since Obama addressed the joint session saying he’s “open to alternatives” I knew something was starting to go off the rails – suspected before, but that was the clincher for me. I took a TON of flack from fellow Lefties who kept insisting he was supporting the option too. While my assertions to the contrary made me fairly unpopular, at least I wasn’t nearly as disappointed when Obama started showing increasing support for the trigger (AKA death of PO). So sadly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Joe did turn out to be “just a nice bit of theater” either. I haven’t cared for many of Obama’s broken promises or capitulations to the Right, but his steadily declining position on HCR is the most disappointing of all for me.

But as far as LIEberman’s part in it goes, I’m with EvilDrPuma:
Juck Loe Fieberman.

I was really hoping to find a petition here on FDL, to strip LIEberman of his chairmanships – yes, even from the subcommittee too. In fact, I figured if there was a petition anywhere for this purpose, that it would be right here.

I heard it would take 30 Democrats to vote to take them away, and I think we could not only do it but also regain a worthwhile amount of respect for Dems once accomplished. Not to mention that we really shouldn’t allow this excellent opportunity-a-knockin’ to render LIEberman useless to go to waste. If not now, then WHEN? Knowing he probably won’t survive the 2012 election isn’t of much comfort to me at all, especially when considering the damage he could cause between now and then.

I agree that we need to keep up the pressure on Reid and Obama, and every other damn person we can.

But Lieberman doesn’t have a reservation. Just temporary camps based on how much attn he can get for his ginormous but fragile ego.

I am only here to remind Jane of how she helped screw a great progressive candidate. I have absolutely no interest in staying around this piece of crap useless echo chamber. I’m only here to call out Jane as I see she likes to deflect blame to other people. Jane, you are partly to blame for Lieberman still being in power today.

You want to know what’s infantile, overheated, and piss poor politics? Running a picture of Lieberman in blackface and being surprised when it nearly ruins a campaign.

Jane, you really should being kissing the floor anyone takes you seriously anymore after that crap, because I sure don’t, and I know plenty of others who don’t as well.

Who said anything about Obama? I do not see the word “Obama” in my comment. I see Schumer, and Harold Schaitberger, and I see Barbara Fucking Boxer, but no Obama.

I would not even posit that a certain vacation at an inopportune time had a bearing on the election, or any of the ‘interesting’ rookie mistakes that abound in a first-time Senate candidate’s run were proximate to the result.

But you have a gigantic chip on your shoulder for that loss, and bringing it to this door is infantile, overheated, piss-poor politics, and if I were you, I would not want anyone to see your display. Change your handle, maybe.

Have a cookie and a glass of warm milk, and suck your thumb until you are asleep. It will help. I promise.

Are you saying they all came to Lieberman’s aid because of Obama, who at the time was a first term two year Senator who hadn’t yet been considering a run for President? I didn’t realize Obama had the kind of power in 2006 lol.

Cowardly Chuck Schumer refused to endorse the winner of the Democratic primary (prior to the actual primary election), on Meet The Press because of… who?

The Firefighters union and Harold Schaitberger endorsed (and stumped for, and pilloried Lamont on behalf of) Joe Lieberman because of… who?

Republicans in the state of Connecticut, and from all over the nation supported Joe Lieberman OVER the Republican candidate because of… who?

Barbara Fucking Boxer came to Joe Lieberman’s aid because of… who?

Not even a nice try.

It must suck to be you today Jane, considering how much you sabatoged Lamont’s campaign with your idiotic blackface gaffe. Yes, I know about that, I was on Lamont’s campaign in 2006…and I was in the conference room the day after your little thoughtless tirade and after Lamont made his comments in Bridgeport distancing himself from blogs. Perhaps you know how much damage control we had to do in the black community, who overwhelmingly backed Lieberman, because of you and because of that, it took our campaign five steps back. We never had a chance.

If I were you, I’d shutup right about now. Lieberman is still in office in part because of your stupidity. You can blame the President all you want to make yourself feel better, you’ll only look as dumb as you did when you helped ruin our chance to elect a progressive Senator in Connecticut, but there isn’t anybody who worked with me on Lamont’s campaign who doesn’t curse your name right about now.
