There are many voices speaking out on this crucial subject right now.

People really like the idea of low cost Medicare for the uninsured. And why not? A single payer can opt-in or opt out — the decision is between the provider and the patient, not some political showboat taking on water.

I want to be able to pay a per-capita rate which lets me buy-in to Medicare since I’m not eligible yet. Folks who shed their corporate-could-care-less middlemen insurance policies would migrate towards the pool and voila — per capita costs go down, Medicare has fresh new financing and the small business passes the savings on to the workers as higher wages.

Big business can get a break too if they bring more folks to the pool. They should happy to excise the health benefit overhead to the extent that individuals opt-out of the corporate headlock.

It’s progressive. It solves the Medicare funding crisis a few years early. It expands the existing Medicare infrastructure geared toward the patient. It keeps costs low and pushes them lower as more single payers join. Sound easy? Sounds like FDL Spirit! I’d buy it if were available on-line. The idea certainly is!
