Sources who have been briefed by the White House say that the administration now expects the entire Senate to take up the health care bill starting in late October, and that the House will begin debate shortly thereafter.  They anticipate that the House will pass a bill within a few days, and that the Senate will continue to debate the bill for several weeks.

Which probably means that we’ll get a bill with a public option out of the House before the end of the month, and subsequently there will be intense pressure on the Senate to pass something that has one too.

Which means we’ll probably get some kind of "compromise" out of the Senate that looks like Olympia Snowe’s "triggers," Maria Cantwell’s "let’s just call it a public option, or maybe Star Wars," or Tom Carper’s "worse than nothing" by mid-November.  A month for conference, then a final vote before the holiday break.
