A march on Washington (1-2 million people, maybe more) would be ideal, but like I keep saying, unless somebody steps up and says I’ll make sure everybody can “Afford” to go, you’ll have tiny numbers, more than the Tea Bagger nonsense for sure, but smaller and for the Mass Media to not ignore it, it needs to be HUGE.

The media made it clear that tens of millions were demonstrating around the world. Does that compare to what the Republican media infrastructure is capable of? Of course not. But then again, the media are a corporate media, and so long as there is division amongst the corporate elites over Obama, which there clearly is, mass media will cover the fight. There was no corporate percentage in going apeshit over the 2003 protests, to the contrary, they were all salivating at the prospect of sending all of that money to their contributor base, so there was sparser coverage.

There is an arising relative autonomy amongst the corporate media from the most craven impulses of corporate dominance, namely MSNBC. But we’ve yet to see MSNBC even tiptoe outside of the boundaries established by the Democrat Party mainstream, which is far to the right of Obama’s electoral coalition. I’d wager MSNBC will never do so, but am open to them proving me different.

“Not unaware” is not the same as clearly informed. The media telling us that the usual suspects were out in the street whining about war isn’t exactly a fair assessment of what was actually happening.

My point is that Republicanism is like a mutating virus. We need to continue changing our tactics as the the virus resists our efforts to cure it.

By the way, it is not Rahm. He is an expert fixer, but he is amoral. He is exacting exactly the policy that Obama is looking for. Obama has said that he favors the Public Option. There is no place where he has put pressure for it to be included. It is on Obama’s insistence that the finance committee be the base plan for approval. This was never his issue. He had to have a progressive stand on this to cut this off as a Hilary issue. As has been stated on the night time pundit shows, he is looking for any bill to call it historic.

Call the WH and the DNC and tell them that you have decided to use the very same trigger they are looking to put on the public option. They can not have any more of your time and money for the Democratic races until that trigger is executed and the public option is being deployed. You really want to contribute so as soon as the trigger is executed you get the volunteerisim and money. Nothing until then.
