Any student of history will probably remember the minister of propaganda for the nazi party, Joseph Goebbels. He acussed his opponents of socialism and attacked them with “the big lie” theory. This theory was if you told an obvious bold lie and just repeated it often and loudly, the masses would believe it. He used it to convince people that minorities were trying to destroy the country… unfortunately it worked and violence ensued.

If only the media had been more courageous in exposing the lies.

I just witnessed a good example of the defeat of a measure in the Senate which was designed to save billions of dollars for the taxpayer while its defeat instead protected the profits of the Pharma industry.

It dealt with saving 160 billion dollars for the taxpayers by charging all Medicare recipients the same reduced prices for drugs as are payed by the poorest of Medicare patients, the so called “doughnut hole”.

The measure was defeated on the spurious but very direct argument by those that opposed the measure that it was futile to adopt this measure because Pharma would only shift an increase in its drug cost somewhere else in order to preserve its existing exorbitant profits.

This reluctance to pass the most basic cost saving measures in order to protect Pharma permeates the entire political class from Obama on down. Specifically those Democrats who voted no to the measure were:

Baucus; Carper (of Delaware); Menendez (of New Jersey).

These Senators should be pelted out of office and in the meantime inundated by emails and the spotlight brought to bear directly on them by DPL, and all the crew at MSNBC. This sort of grovelling and prostration before large corporations in order to protect their profits can no longer be tolerated.
