Mike Ross sold his Arkansas pharmacy in 2007 for over twice its assessed value

He bragged about holding the health care bill "hostage."

He offered up the same co-op plan in the House that appeared in the Baucus Senate bill — authored by a former Wellpoint executive.

He was one of 5 members of Congress who received a total of $2.5 million in advertising support from PhRMA.

A week later he signed a letter asking that pharmaceutical manufacturers not have to negotiate for drug prices, per a sweetheart deal they negotiated with the White House.

He said he wouldn’t support a public plan because his constituents don’t want one.

But new polling by Daily Kos/Research 2000 confirms that his district does in fact want a public option.  It is favored by 74% of Democrats, and 80% of African Americans in the district.   Both Republicans and Democrats give a public insurance option higher ratings than they do the President’s health care plan.

Yesterday he spoke at a Chamber of Commerce event in Little Rock sponsored by a major health care provider, but he won’t talk to the Arkansas press.

Mike Ross is fighting hard for what the insurance industry and the pharmaceutical industry want.  His "changes" add billions to the cost of health care and hike up insurance premiums — contrary to what he says.

We want to make sure that Democrats in Arkansas know that Mike Ross is not representing their interests, and that they are not alone in wanting a public option.  They deserve a representative who cares more about them than the interests of Wellpoint and Pfizer.

The ad will run on network television in the Little Rock market.  It will be 1000 points, which means the average person will see it 10 times.  That’s approximately the kind of buy a candidate would make in the last week of a campaign.  As I said on Rachel Maddow the other night, that’s roughly equivalent to a $3.5 million ad buy in New York City.

That will reach 55% of Democrats state-wide, and 70% of Democrats in the 4th district.  We’ll supplement with a cable buy in Mike Ross’s district to reach almost 100% of all Democrats.

We have reserved time during the Arkansas-Alabama football game this weekend.  Razorback football games are like national holidays in Arkansas — and it’s a road game so EVERYONE will be watching on TV.

Can you help us reach our goal of $78,000 to make sure that people in Arkansas know that Mike Ross needs to act like a Democrat, or we’ll find someone who will?
