Recently, Mike Ross sent a letter to his constituents saying, “I remain opposed to a government-run public option,” and called the idea “controversial.”
Daily Kos just published a new poll by Research 2000 showing that a plurality of Ross’ district support the public option. Forty-seven percent of those polled favor creating a “government-administered health insurance option that anyone can purchase to compete with private insurance plans,” while only 44% opposed. Support for the public option was overwhelming among Democrats in the district (74% favor vs. 19% oppose); the PO was supported by a plurality of independents (47% favor vs 43% oppose).
Interestingly, the public option was much more popular than Obama’s health care plan as a whole. When asked, “generally speaking, do you favor or oppose Barack Obama’s health care plan?” 40% of all those polled said they favor the plan, while 48% are opposed to it.
If Ross continues to oppose the public option it could hurt him with his base. 32% of Democrats said they would be less likely to vote for Ross if he opposed a public option, while only 12% of Democrats would be more likely to support him for opposing a public option.

Tell Blanche Lincoln and Mike Ross to Act Like Democrats
Via the Arkansas Times this morning.
With Dems like Mike Ross…
.
.
We are supposed to believe those teabggers really scared him.. since he did his dirty work in committee before recess.
As we heard so many times during the presidential campaign: No, We Can’t! (Inspiring, wasn’t it?)
Time to find a primary challenger. Few are more deserving than Mike Ross.
This is off topic, but polling questions like this strike me as incredibly dubious, as they’re contingent on the knowledge of the public. Without qualifying questions to ascertain whether or not people asked that question have any idea what the question was asking; we’re left without much of value to infer from their response other than, “Do you or don’t you like President Obama.”
Mike thinks his constituents are hillbillies that don’t read the paper or watch the teevee. They don’t hear the news reports, and they don’t talk to each other over breakfast (with grits, hold the gravy) about how their friend just died and their brother was denied coverage, and the company just gave up insuring the workers, so his family is now on welfare too because the wages don’t cut it.
Something’s gotta give, and it isn’t going to be the people he misrepresents.

Preview of Tom Delay on Dancing with the Stars.
Eureka!! As much as I support you and the issues and agendas at FDL, dear, I just have a question. Are you independently wealthy? Shit, I’m working 2 stupid minimum wage jobs here to keep afloat. Every time I turn around, some one’s got their hand out. Every. Where.
Okay, rant over. Not really a rant. More of something else.
The network might want to consider changing the show’s name. How about “Dancing with the Tards?” Just sayin’…
What? Are you, of all people, going pop culture?
I’m eating a late lunch. I’ll pass on Tom. If it’s okay.
Ewww. My husband just said he saw some clip on tv with Tom. Dancing. Said he does this weird Limp Wrist thing with a version with a woman’s butt move. Don’t yell at me. That was my husband’s perview.
Dont’ make me tell you what I think about Tom Drag Delay.
Notice that it was TPM that provided the link. I won’t resist pop culture when my trusted sites are touting it. *g*
(AP) The chairman of the Rhode Island Republican Hispanic Assembly and member of the Republican Central Committee says he has quit the GOP because he was embarrassed by South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst during President Obama’s address to Congress on Sept. 9.
Wilson shouted “You lie,” when President Obama said illegal immigrants would not receive benefits under his health care plan.
Ivan Marte tells The Providence Journal that Wilson’s behavior was “shameful” and “uncivilized.”

My husband was reading an article by Max Blumenthal this am. About a guy, Matthew Murray. Sad case. Sad story. But the point was that people who are raised in a really fucked up situation usually stay fucked up. Sometimes they move to the polar opposite political or religious view. but they are still fucked up.
Tom Delay?
I don’t know much about Tom Delay, and that’s just fine with me.
Que Huevos!!!
Well, I certainly haven’t done any in-depth research. But, I’ve seen news and clips here and there. He was big in the scene and was Out There alot. I only know what I’ve seen.
I don’t know much about this Mike Ross guy either, but the photo creeps me out. Like a deer, on valum, in headlights.

Yea Ok, Do you rally think anybody cares what type of poll the Daily KOS does? What did they do? Contact all Dems?
This was not a poll done my dailykos, this was a poll paid for by dailykos to be done by research 2000 which is a very respected polling company.
Anybody else find it interesting that a majority supported the “public option,” but the number significantly dropped when asked about what might arguably be roughly equivalent when Obama’s name–you know, the black guy in the White House–was used? I have a feeling that if a question about Obama’s health insurance reform proposal was formulated without using his name, it would probably get similar numbers to the public option question.
Actually, that poll was done by Nate Silver. The numbers were closely matched to dailykos’ Research 2000 poll. It’s spot on. Cue the commercial….Wanna see a dead man walkin? Take a look at Mike Ross!
right on. 08 general election numbers in the district jumped 8 points from 00 and 04
Mike Ross didn’t do the heavy lifting to even keep Arkansas’ pissant little Health Care Coop alive.
Arkansas Health Care Coop Goes Under
THIS? is the model that Ross and Lincoln want for the nation? An underfunded, bunch of tiny local coops that have no power to pressure the insurance companies that’ll go bankrupt after 5 years?
For a co-op to succeed it’d have to be government-sponsored (i.e. organizational help and funding) at the NATIONAL level, with real collective bargaining power…not some Fort Worth Retired Lima Bean Producers Health Care Cooperative and Quilting Club.
Mike Ross was just taken down on the Rahcel Maddow show! Lets hope the fakeass media picks this up like they pick up fox news’ garbage! Let the bloodletting begin! Dead Man Walking!
Do you really think the moderate dems are going to lose their seats to pass this bill with a public option?
