FYI: Lloyd Doggett is in “took the pledge” and “only with robust” columns, so there are only 66 congresspeople in the two columns combined.
The force progressives are exerting on the process is extremely important. In the aftermath of the adress last night question were put directly to people like axlrod, that hadnt been raised before, such as what gaurantees are there that we arent going to be thrown to the insurance insustry dogs, forced to pay for expensive insurance that dosent provide any health care.
The PO IS the “market” solution to the question of how to “keep insurance companies honest”. If they abandon their own market ideology then it will become necsessary to find more traditional ways to make that happen, such as government power. Im fine with that, but it needs to be done. I hope we are looking forward to that possiblility, and are prepared to fight for appropriate regulation, and not just a make or break effort with the PO.
in light of his statements the last few days, sure would like to know why Anthony Weiner wont take the Pledge
In his latest statement, he said he “didn’t see” how he could vote for a bill without a public option. He’s not refusing outright.
BTW, Jane, someone pointed out yesterday that Sander Levin is in both the “Weasel words” and “Open to Anything” columns. Based on what I heard in the video he’s linked to, I think he should be in the “Weasel Words” column, but he definitely should be in one or the other.
RE: Capuano, the Boston Herald reported Tuesday that he “pulled nomination papers” to run for the Senate. We might get a chance to primary him after all.
You’re right, thanks
should StenyDog be moved over to the “Open to Anything” column now that he’s basically thrown up on the PO?
The Congress is back in session and doing the dirty work for the Medical Industrial Complex.
mcconnell $3.3M, hatch $2.9M, baucus $2.8M, grassley $2.7M,
lieberman $2.6M, burr $2.4M, ensign $2.4M, cornyn $2.2M, kyl $2.1M,
conrad $2.1M, cantor $1.8M boehner $1.7M, coburn $1.2M were
paid by the Medical Industrial Complex to kill Health Care Reform.
12 Million Americans were denied Health Care Coverage by the Medical Industrial Complex because they had a Pre-Existing Medical Condition. 12K Americans lose Insurance Coverage everyday. Over 18K Americans die each day because they lack health insurance. (Source: WaPo Article 05′ by Harvard Prof. E. Warren)

Now THIS AFTER the speech:
Dems predict health accord
While the GOP was unswayed, Pelosi sees a deal ahead. A public option looks less likely.
I…just…don’t…get…it.
Here is the dark reality: R.I.P. Public Option. Massive infusions of new cash to health insurance cartel from “must-purchase” mandate. Health cartel exponentially increases its iron grip on Congress, the President, the Supreme Court, and the media. The U.S. never joins the rest of the world, never gets a fair and affordable universal healthcare system. This is the best your country can do. Aren’t you proud?
Jane – thank you so much for working so hard for your country. I pray for you every day and for, at a minimum, a very strong public option with no trigger. I hope that everyone who has been posting so strongly for public option will be in DC on Sept 13th to demonstrate or, at least, go to your state capital, town square or city hall to demonstrate for public health. I am sick and tired of seeing only the tea bagger opposition at rallies. Civil rights were not won with only letters, phone calls or mail. People who were incredibly poor just walked out their doors and started walking, riding or driving. If we really want change we must get out and demonstrate in addition to everything else. I’m praying for the miracle that most of the approx 70% who say they want at least public option will get out and be seen on Sept 13.
