Statement of Justin Ruben, Executive Director of MoveOn:
The right-wing smear campaign that wrongly forced Van Jones’ resignation represents Washington at its worst.
Van Jones has worked tirelessly to bring jobs and environmental progress to some of the poorest communities in our nation. His dedication and leadership are exactly what we need more of in Washington. And his resignation is a loss to this Administration.
This should serve as a wake-up call to all reasonable people that the right wing politics of race-baiting, distortion, and hate—as practiced by Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Republican Congressional leaders like Mike Pence–are a growing threat to the change America desperately needs.
Still nobody calling for him to be reinstated, but definitely a step in the right direction.

About FDL Action
This should serve as a wake-up call that the right-wing brainwashing is working. “A mind is a terrible thing to use” may as well be the slogan of the Republican party… and their followers have abdicated theirs.
waving to the MoveOn staff FDL reader :D
Hey somebody at MoveOn happen to remember this?
ACT LIKE IT.
We bought the Democratic Party with our pennies and dimes; we owned it with our shoe leather — and that was back in 2004.
We more than redoubled our efforts in 2006 and more than redoubled those in 2008.
We should be insisting on Jones because there are so few other candidates who can fill this role. The right to insist on qualified leadership like that of Van Jones as green jobs guru is ours, we bought it, we own it, it’s ours.
We WON, dammit; we need to act like it.
This should serve as a wake-up call to all reasonable people that the right wing is apparently walking all over the Obama administration. Well, they did it to Clinton, and apparently nothing has changed.
I just can’t understand why Obama would let this happen without a knock-down fight. Did he really deceive us that badly?
Or maybe he is under threat of various kinds, and simply cannot do what he would like to do. Fair enough, if he explains the situation.
If Obama continues to back down without explaining what is happening, then he is of no more use to us than any other Democrat who, by the way, thank G*d, ended the Bush era by defeating John McCain.
Colorblindness scale: corrective lenses.
Justin mentions “right wing politics of race-baiting” at the end. Nowehere near as good as Car Pope’s, but far better than John Podesta. Can we assign heads of white groups weekly meetings with Tim Wise?
