Why anyone is still trying to shape the outcome of the health-care debate - or any other question for that matter, Af/Pak war, torture, bailouts, you name it - by calls, faxes or phone calls to congressmen, simply paralyses the mind. All of this has the feel of early 1930s Germany. An economic crisis has occured, the Nazis have stolen a march on the left and, slowly but surely, succeed in reducing it to a mass of blubering jelly!

You people think and act as though you still have a functioning democracy! The financial, arms, drug and Middle East foreign policy lobbies and the collusive filth in Congress and the White House have stolen it from you. Why are you fiddling around with people like Nadler? Your vote has absolutely no meaning whatsoever. Join with the brownshirts and take down this whole charade, then look to extra-parliamentary remedies for the future.

I hope Rep. Nadler sticks to this. I think his response, if it comes down to it and they are claiming “the Obama presidency will be sunk if you don’t vote for this shit bill” should be along the lines of “not my problem. I vote the interests of my constituents, not the Executive.”
And I echo JasperJohns’ sentiment above. I absolutely do not want a dime of my money going to anyone who will equivocate on this issue. If you have our back, we’ve got yours. If not, well…

If he wanted to, Nadler could unseat Gillibrand in a primary, and should be able to win the Senate seat. I wish he would; unfortunately, IIRC he has said that he’d prefer to remain in the House (where he has massive seniority). What a shame; he’s be a GREAT Senator.

I’d suggest for all those equivocating from the “pledge” be stripped from the Act Blue listing asap including Edwards. The Unions making the same representation would be helpful too.

I note Act Blue contributed in excess of $500k to Congresswoman Edwards’ campaign. I, for one, don’t want to offer her or others like her a dime.

“Change?” More like politics as usual.
