Dean also said "there will be primaries against Democrats who vote against the public option."
DFA has been doing terrific work of late. They have remained safely outside of the veal pen and are doing a smart and vigorous job of advocating for true health care reform. They never worry about losing their invitation to some "A" list event before they act. Charles Chamberlain is doing great job and it’s been a joy working with them on the whip count project.

About FDL Action
I love Howard Dean, and I lament that Obama et al. have not chosen to use him in this fight.
However, I disagree with one thing I keep hearing him say, on places like Keith’s show: that the far right crazies “are only hurting the Republican Party” and “will drive people away from Republicans.”
That may be the long term effect, but in the short term they are sucking up all the air from the health care discussion, preventing debate, intimidating congresspeople & voters, and, most troubling, getting their crazy ideas planted in some folks “fertile” [as in full of horseshit] minds.
Perhaps Howard doesn’t feel he can call these folks out on this, or has some other reason for his strategy, but I’m hoping he does not truly underestimate the harm these crazies — and the lack of a Democratic response — are doing.
