This is a myth. I’m not sure were it started, but it’s not supported by the polls.

Today’s Dailykos’ weekly poll completely debunks the theory that Obama is losing support within the base.

Here’s the link. Take a look at the graphs. The Dem-Blue line is stable. The Indi-green line is stable. It’s the Rep-Red line that has been sharply downward.

As Kos wrote: “Republicans have been celebrating Obama’s erosion at the polls. But as we can see by the party breakdowns, Obama’s numbers are dropping almost exclusively because of Republicans.”

Now, that doesn’t mean activist Dems are angry with Obama. They should be. But life isn’t zero sum. People can be angry with Obama and still support him. As of now, polling data says slippage is coming from the Red Staters, not from his base.

There is no winking and nodding when Obama and Emanuel deliver their message, say West Wing officials.

This means they do not want to have the plan be able to negotiate provider, hospital, drug and medical supply fees and they do not support employer mandates and surtaxes on the wealthy. They reduce the subsidies available to low and middle income citizens. They hobble the public plan by making it unaffordably expensive, underfunded and headed for fiscal failure, and oppressive to mandated citizens who were not able to afford insurance in the first place.

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel warned liberal groups this week to stop running ads against Democratic members of Congress.

Or what? Will he hold is breath until he turns blue? Will the WH push a more stringent Republican agenda than they have already? Honest to God, what is the threat here?

Progressives are deeply unhappy and Rahm is heading straight towards an electoral defeat next year at they rate they are going. The WH has completely lost control of the messaging and the issue. It seems to me that progressive organizations have a much stronger hand here than Rahm. Obama’s numbers are sliding and it’s not because of the teabaggers who hated him before. He’s losing support from those who expected him to deliver on change and have been handed big steaming piles of sameness.

I guess Rahm figures big piles of money make phone calls and cast votes. We’ll see if he’s right…
