By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday July 22, 2009 9:59 am

Lloyd Doggett takes the pledge to vote against any bill that does not have a strong public option that is available nationwide, with no triggers, and answerable to Congress and the voters.

Olympia Snowe Supports Public Plan — On “Day One” of the Trigger

By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday July 22, 2009 9:56 am

By using words like “available from day one,” Snowe is trying to co-opt populist language and employ it in the service of something that means just the opposite. She means “day one” — once the triggers kick in.

She’s embarrassed about her opinion, and is trying to pretend that it’s something it isn’t. Well, she should be.

Did Conrad Purposefully Seek To Delay Health Care Reform?

By: slinkerwink Wednesday July 22, 2009 8:46 am

I read this article in The Hill, a congressional newspaper, and a question kept coming back to me. Did Senator Conrad purposefully seek to delay the passage of health care reform with his leading questions of the CBO director, Elemendorf, during the congressional hearing on health care reform? It seems that he did. Here are the [...]

By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday July 22, 2009 8:41 am

They Can’t Even Keep Their Lies Straight

By: Phoenix Woman Tuesday July 21, 2009 9:37 pm

Here’s Michael Steele, lying about how the public option will allegedly cost Americans so much more than what we have now. Here’s Michele Bachmann, undercutting Steele with what to her and her insurance-company buddies is a scaaaary idea: That the public option will be much cheaper that what we have now — so much so that it, in finest Law of the Marketplace fashion, drives the inferior private insurers out of business. Geezo peezo, Republicans! Can’t you keep your health care lies straight?

Michele Bachmann Opposes Public Option Because It’s “Cheaper”

By: slinkerwink Tuesday July 21, 2009 6:41 pm

Crazy right-winger Michele Bachmann from Minnesota, in her floor speech, issued a litany of talking points against the public option, and said that the public option would be far cheaper than private insurance. And that’s a bad thing? Apparently it’s a bad thing for Michele Bachmann and her legion of crazy fans.  "Approximately 114 million Americans [...]

Patrick Kennedy Reserves the Right to Vote Against a Public Option

By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday July 21, 2009 4:19 pm

Patrick Kennedy is in a D+16 district. He’s got bigger problems if he DOESN’T take the pledge.

What is this uncontrollable impulse to cower in the wake of a GOP that poses absolutely no threat to them in totally safe districts. I simply do not understand it.
