Boccieri Won’t Say What He Thinks About Bailing Out Insurance Companies

By: Jane Hamsher Monday July 13, 2009 10:08 am

I wonder if there is a lot of trust among people in Boccieri’s district for private insurance companies? Because that’s what they’re going to be stuck with without a public plan. And it looks like Boccierri will vote for something that is under-funded and won’t really do anything to help middle class people.

Joe Courtney Blows Off Questions About Where He Stands on Public Plan

By: Jane Hamsher Monday July 13, 2009 9:25 am

If Courtney cares more about his constituents than he does his donors like Aetna and Wellpoint,  why won’t he answer a simple question?  Because the Blue Dogs don’t have any problem saying where they will draw the line in screwing over the public, and as long as Courtney stays silent, they control the conversation.

It sets Courtney up to take a bad vote — just like he did on ACES and the supplemental — just to “get something passed.”

We’d Love to Trust You Steve Cohen, But…

By: Jane Hamsher Monday July 13, 2009 7:00 am

Mike Stark spoke to Steve Cohen about taking the Pledge.  Cohen said he believed in all the principles, but that you never knew what was coming down the road.  In other words, we should trust him. But  Cohen was one of those who, in 2007, signed a letter saying he would vote for no war [...]

Are Blue Dogs Just “Voting Their Districts” — Or Their Donors?

By: Phoenix Woman Saturday July 11, 2009 6:23 pm

The standard line of defense used by persons sticking up for the Blue Dogs is that they’re not corrupt or money-driven or anything like that, but are simply voting the way their constituents want them to vote. Let’s put this to the test by looking at their stance on the public option.

Health Care Heroes: Can You Give $8 For 8?

By: Jane Hamsher Saturday July 11, 2009 8:51 am

Let’s show the 8 Members of Congress who have taken the pledge that we support them, that we are there for them, and that we will remember that they took a courageous stand to insist that health care for all Americans should be a basic human right.

Jim Moran: “The Votes Are Not There” For Public Option

By: Jane Hamsher Friday July 10, 2009 1:49 pm

Marjorie W. reports: The aide who answered the phone said Rep. Moran is in favor of the public option, but knows that the votes for it are not there, and wants to get something through rather than have the whole reform package voted down. We’re trying to confirm with Moran’s office right now.  But this [...]

Blue Dog Loretta Sanchez (CA-47) Supports Public Option

By: Teddy Partridge Friday July 10, 2009 1:30 pm

Despite claiming that the Blue Dog letter that opposed a public option for health care was “one of the best ones I’d seen written in a long time,” California Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez struck out on her own path as she disagreed, on MSNBC today, and said she wants a public option in order to bring down health care costs.
