A waste of time. House liberals are not the problem, and ‘pledges’ to these people don’t mean crap.
If anyone here lives in the 1st district in Ca, please get in touch with Mike Thompson. He is a Blue Dog and only takes comments from his own district. I am surprised that he is a Blue Dog – have known him for many years and would never have guessed that he would go that way. I think he is probably reachable on this issue.
Okay, I’ve been trying to get this answer for four threads: did we change the pledge to accommodate Barney Frank, so that now it’s okay if the public plan isn’t implemented for a few years? Or was day one not really meaning day one always implicit in the pledge? If the pledge itself is a moving target, it doesn’t seem to mean much. If day one never meant day one, that was not clear to me.
If the “Open to Anything” category includes ensuring nothing bad happens to PhARMA & HIAA then yeah, Mike Ross is in that category. If it means reducing the number of uninsured, nope Mike Ross is ag’in it.
Respectfully, Tangerine, you are wrong.
The Progressive Caucus is the largest in the house, yet the members do not vote as a block and have historically caved to cover the asses of traitorous Blue Dogs.
If we do not pressure progressives to do right, we will have to wait another generation before an opportunity arises again to reform healthcare. Bad idea.
why is Maurice Hinchey not on this list. He’s in the progressive caucus, although I haven’t gotten a definitive answer from his people yet.
where is Jim Moran (VA-8)???
What a coincidence. I was just about to ask the same question as woodrowfan — where’s Jim Moran? For the first time in a long time I have a representative and I’ll be willing to call.
You’ve missed Jane Hamsher’s stated purpose of this “whip” operation, then. It’s to whip the progressive caucus into a bloc that has the discipline and power sink a bad bill or realistically threaten to do so.
I get it now. He’s not a member of the Progressive Caucus.

Which version of so-called public option is Barney pledging to support?
Wow—Not doing too well. Could it be this is not the answer ?
