Rick Scott, the one who’s leading the conservative fight against health care reform, just crowed in an e-mail to his supporters that:
Keep Up the Fight – Victory is in Sight!
Thanks to a collective effort by a loose knit coalition of free market health care advocates, conservative grassroots groups, and some reasonable-minded elected officials, I am very confident, after meetings on the Hill this week, that if Congress does not pass a health care bill with the public option before Labor Day, the public option is dead. While Victory is near, we must not rest.
Earlier today, Senate Majority Harry Reid acknowledged that there would be no health care vote in the Senate until the fall. Still, liberal, pro-government health care advocates are intensifying their campaigns and increasing the decibel level of their rhetoric to demonize elected officials who are rightly opposed to the public option and a government take-over of health care. We must meet them head on and continue with ads, news events (particularly in the grassroots), media appearances, etc, to finish off the public option, which is no option at all as it would be devastating to patients, our economy and our health care system.
If you want to read the rest of Rick Scott’s disgusting screed, please read it in full at the link here. I stopped reading after three paragraphs because it was so reprehensible. If you want to know more about Rick Scott, he’s known as having perpetuated the biggest $1.7 billion health insurance industry fraud upon Americans. Rick Scott’s organization, Conservatives for Patients’ Rights, is a very well-funded organization, and they’re happy right now about what Senator Reid has said today about delaying the passage of health care reform.
We need you to keep on fighting back today against the likes of Rick Scott and his cohorts. Will you please help join with the petition telling Congress not to delay the passage of health care reform by going on recess? We now have over 30,000 signatures, and will be delivering the petition later today. Please ask your friends and family to join in as well in this fight!

A ha! CPR has 20 million bucks on hand. And I posted their latest ad this morning.
Health Lobby Ad Watch: Fresh Squeezed Lies and Fear From the Swift Boat Team
That’s a lot of money for ads. They’re planning to scare Americans against supporting their own best interests.
It wouldn’t be the first time.
good morning slinkerwink and firedogs -
slinky,
the Congr. Black Caucus made a lot of noise on Politico yesterday, blasting the Blew Dogs and other obstructionists in this fight –
am suggesting that if anyone is left in DC (jane, eve, mike, etc) can someone pay a quick visit to Chairwoman Lee’s office and remind her that our Pledge would provide some serious pushback ??
the caucus lined up with the Progressive, Hispanic, & Asian Pacific American caucuses on 6/24 to support a robust Public Option – taking our Pledge would be a concrete demonstration of walking the walk – nudge, nudge, wink, wink –
thanks for all (((you)))) are doing
and oh yes, I’m calling the Caucus @ 212 226-9776, and then I’m gonna hit their FB page
p.s. reprehensible is the perfect word for this inhumane pig
I absolutely LOVE THE IDEA…of flooding the MISCREANT congresscritters offices with all of us with stories and photos of our INSURANCE AND HEALTH NIGHTMARES
O/T: Anyone see Charles Pierce slap Shuster around last night? Shuster was way out of his league with Mr. Pierce. Shuster didn’t like what he heard so he turned himself into Bill O’Reilly. He acted like a complete ass. Go here for the lurid play-by-play:

I dropped a very unflattering note to the show. Here: Countdown@msnbc.com
PS: Hey Shuster: Blow Job.
PEOPLE for 2 DOLLARS…yes ONLY 2 DOLLARS…Kinkos will blow up any photo to 11 by 14

bring them to the congresscritter office, with n index card attached with your story…
Have the progressives put up a chart that shows just how much the richest people have gained in the past 8 years. Make sure that the MSM show the chart and let the defenders of the rich try to challenge the chart (needless to say, the chart HAS TO BE ACCURATE AND IN DETAIL).
This will give ammo to the progressives in trying to tax the upper !% and expose the public to the reality of what has happened in the past 8 years, plus showing the weakness of the defenders of no tax on the million dollar club.
Food for thought. AB
Once again Senator Reid has shown us all what he is made of . He does not have the courage to face even a smaller army that is armed only with words . When Senator Durban said “they own the Congress” he was correct . Wall Street is in charge . “Patrotism” does not exist anywhere near the Congress of the United States of America .
I am not sure what the problem is. If the bill is really beneficial, you should be happy the people will have a chance to know what’s in the bill and what they are getting. If it is a BAD BILL, the people will know that it smells like a dead fish and should be defeated. I thought you (and FDLers in general) thought sunlight is the best disinfectant?
“Patrotism” does not exist anywhere near the Congress of the United States of America.
Wait a minute: You mean that sucking up to lobbyists and Wall Street is not patriotic? I must have missed something.
Sunlight maybe, but not building some $20 million movie set to look like sunlight – which is what the Swiftboat Veterans for Corporate Profits and their ilk are planning to do during the August recess.
OT – we need a big billy goat gruff in here today.
hey slink,
did you see this video my friends at phawker have up about Rick the Dick Scott?
good stuff and shows what a royal asshole he is.
I have read the bill…at least the 1,018 page version…while I’m sure it has substantial amendments, it constitutes severe taxes on ME and limitation of my insurance. Therefore, I am against it. I suspect, it will cost most of those who have decent employer funded insurance plans more as well. That is a majority. Congressman DO have to listen to us–we pay the bills. So a public airing of the bill will be good–and you should welcome it.
oh hey, one more thing:
kathy dahlkemper’s chief of staff called back and apologized to me.
Quite excellent video!
I saw that video, and it was great!
So Dahlkemper’s CoS called you back to apologize? Bet it was your online article that did it.
waste of time
money talks in wash not peoples signatures
until people take to the streets wash is deaf
the republic is gone what is left is corp facism
but there is always hope :-)
I just called Senator Wyden’s office, asking him, as a member of Baucus’s committee, to put pressure on his committee to get off the pot and get something done quick. I also said I wanted him to support a federal public option, and to insist upon a vote before recess.
The receptionist said that Senator Wyden is more than willing to keep working past recess, and that he is open to all options, including a public option.
We’ll see!
On the other hand, PATRONism is alive and well, thank you.
Just look at the big pharma and insurance slobbyists endlessly refilling the politico porkers’trough.
I sure folks are reminded about Rick Scott’s checkered past in the health care industry and his demonstrated lack of concern and interest in the health concerns of average folks like me.
