i’ve been slogging through reading all the bills, because that’s one of the things i’ve been most interested in. i haven’t found anything in any of the bills yet, house or senate, that would keep the insurance industry from delaying/denying care. the no recissions / no pre-existing conditions / no yearly or lifetime caps requirements are good, but we’re still going to get lousy care if the payers can continue to deny, deny, deny, delay, delay, delay.

We cant let these bastards destroy this chance to institute a Public Option. The insurance companies are drooling at the idea of having 50 million new customers to exploit. The Blue Dogs will keep us forever in the toilet. Time to move to France.

One has to assume that these dogs are afraid they’ll get voted out if they support a “liberal” plan. Do they really think the repubs will go easy on them in the next election cycle? They’ll be painted as tax and spend liberals even if they vote with the repubs 100% of the time. Let’s hope they wake up and realize we elected a Dem for president and they’re supposed to be members of his Party.

I’ve been calling my representative and senator every day since this started and I’ll continue until this succeeds. If it doesn’t pass, I’ll still be calling each and every day, just a diffent message.

The lack of transparency in the US healthcare industry means insurance companies can abuse patients by denying their claims

It’s not in the top 10 wealthiest, but fairly wealthy nevertheless.

Virginia-11 and California-14 (Connolly and Eshoo) are the wealthiest CD’s represented by Dems…watch what they do

I talked with one of my sisters yesterday about healthcare reform. She’s a former MD, worked for a health insurance company at one point in her career. She had a recollection about a child dying from an abcessed tooth in the Washington DC area. A quick search found him - Deamonte Driver.

I tried to light a fire under her to talk with non-voting representative Eleanor Holmes Norton and her former representative Capuano and Senator Kerry (she moved from MA to DC in 2001, still is licensed to practice medicine in MA).

thanks for the reply!

that’s the only part i know about too.

since denial of coverage is part of the business model — it’s one of the ways insurance companies “compete,” i was hoping there was something addressing the issue in the legislation. haven’t seen anything, but then, i’ve only read a very small fraction of the bills.

The only thing I know is that they at first said the treatment was “experimental” and after their offices got picketed they agreed to pay but it was too late. B*stards - they let a 17 year old die.
