Willard sent me an email this morning warning of the evils of big gubmint health care — and lays out a much better plan.
Health care costs are spiraling out of control, and tens of millions of Americans can’t afford health insurance. needy. President Obama and the Democrats believe the solution to these problems is a new government insurance program that will compete with the private sector. This is a course that threatens free markets. It is wrong for America.
Reform of our health care system can be accomplished by strengthening the private insurance system, as we did in Massachusetts when I was Governor. Strip away burdensome regulations to get the cost of insurance policies down. Take some of the taxpayer money we’re now spending on free care and use it to help buy insurance for the needy.
To summarize Willard’s winning formula: less regulation plus using taxpayer money to subsidize Big Insurance = free markets = health care awesomeness.
And everyone gets a pony.

Romeny got it right.
Health care is not an entitlement. Come to think of it neither is an i-phone.
Let me repeat once more those great words of Gerald Ford:
“A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.”
In MittLand, the “free” in free market means “free from the threat of actual competition.”
Thanks for summing up what is currently going on right now.
I love bailing out big banks and it gives me great big tingles to hear about record profits months later. So glad little taxpayers could help them with their owie. Wouldn’t want to turn them down in their hour of need.
How else can we help? Oh yeah, let me continue to pay incredible premiums to insurance companies (who didn’t exist in the last century) to keep them in the business of turning down approval for my surgery. Thanks! Glad I could help them.
Please. Ask not what your insurance company can do for you, ask what you can do for your free market for profit health insurance company. God Bless America! Just Say No to Reason! Drill, baby, drill!
Strip away burdensome regulations. You know what that means folks,Let the fat cats do what ever ordinary americans be damned.
It’s amazing that’s still the Republic chant after the results of their having power.
“What Jesus patently fails to appreciate is that it’s the meek who are the problem.”
The Republic’s “Cartoon Jesus” appreciates that fully.
Can we please just appoint Mutt as Veterinarian General and get him off the airwaves already?
Stripping away regulations did wonders for the airlines, the banks, the…
Jesus didn’t have magic underwear.
Ultimately Republicans have this unresolved confict they evidently can not or will not engage to conclusion.
Republicans evidently really have no use for socialized solutions only human beings through government(the ultimate corporation in America-one country=one corporation)can create to find solutions for American social fabric of the current era.
The question that must be brought to center stage for Republicans is why do any of you want to be in government? Why? Your “remedy” or “solution” is to degrade, denounce and disempower government. So why do Republicans want to be in government since they only want to take taxpayer money and shovel it into favored private “for profit” pursuits?
We know American healthcare should have been put on Single Payer Plan some 65 years ago–shortly after WW2 was won–the American Federal Government won WW2–hence would it not be able also to sponsor a successful Single Payer Plan as it had with Social Security?
Why are the Republicans not calling for a privatized “for profit” Pentagon since this Republican mantra of private for profit seems to frame all GOP notions of the proper government role?
The logic Republicans display of hating government and good governance as seen with G.W.Bush yet still wanting to be in government derails early on.
Mitt Romney–you dislike government and good governance so much?
Quit trying to get into the WH. Why lead or be in what you despise so much?
Mitt is that what baseball players use to catch BALLS? Le Mitt go back to catching balls whether his own or other Republican BALLS!
Free market my ass! Look at the fucking mess we are in NOW both with Health Care and the Financial Markets… I call Bullshit on the Republican Free Market plans.
We the People want a Public Plan and last I knew the Government is US, we should get what we want Single Payer with no co-pays or any extra charges ony you monthly contribution for the coverage.
Get the Fucking Profit out of Health Care. Profit means dead patient because the Insurance Company won’t approve the life saving procedure… See http://www.iom.edu/?id=19175
By “burdensome regulations” does he mean the ones that prevent recission (cancelling a policy after the insured gets sick), denial of coverage due to pre-existing conditions, limits on premium increases, limits on profits vs. payouts for covered services, limits on administrative efforts to deny coverage for valid claims, etc. THOSE regulations? Oh wait…
To repeat myself from the last health care thread…
Their plan is NOTHING! and they are proud of it. They want government out of health care and everything else.
A “thousand points of light” will fill potholes, verify that gas pumps pump a true gallon, and look at what a great job the private sector did waging the war in Iraq!
What remains in the GOP are the loonies looking to pickup a few votes from Ron Paul, not John Chaffey.
Of course they don’t have a health plan other than to let the free market deal with the needs.
And,let me add, “Dog eat dog! It’s the American way, for God’s sakes!!! I’m alright, Jack! My daddy left me a fortune, thank you very much!Screw you all!!”
Since no one is posting, let me add…
I would prefer Sarah Palin over Mitt just to watch our boy, Beauregard, the sleezebag from AL, go ape shit over supporting a woman for president.
From the mouth of Babes …Megan McCain: “Joe the Plumber – you can quote me – is a Dumbass. He should stick to Plumbing.
Megan got 1 out of 2 right, which makes her 10 times smarter than Caribou Barbie.
you all know that MA is a massively blue state — last i checked our state leg was something like 80% D? every once in a while though, we elect an R gov (deval patrick D is now our gov) — can happen because the Ds sometimes suck very badly (ask me some day how the Ds trashed our clean election law).
this was not a republican healthcare reform plan — it was one that was endorsed by many Ds (and i think many of the same people now involved in the national D reform efforts, it has many of the same characteristics). anyway, i lobbied for the MA reform even though there was a group of people who warned it would not work as advertised.

turns out they were right.
and they are the same people who are warning us now about the current public option based reform. that’s why i’m not ignoring them this time.

The Private Insurance Companies should be made to form one Conglomerate with Mitt in charge … Fookers will be in bankruptcy protection within a year.
Hi, Petro
Megan seems to have wandered off the ranch somewhat – wonder if dear old dad approves?
Selise !
I saw this and thought of you – More than 50 Progressives commit to oppose weak Health Care Bill – from HuffPo
Hi Twain ! With Megan’s access to privileged education and handlers, you’d think someone would have told her that he is not a Plumber …
Megan also took shots at our faves, Coultergeist and RushBo …
Petro !

Can’t tell if I’m late to the party or not but, thanks for the post BT.
Now, who ever you are;
I watched your comments all day at work. Ya see, I’m a lurker. Sometimes however, the shit is just so bad it must be responded to. Your right wing bullshit was roundly rejected in the last 2 elections. Because you seem to be challanged in some way, let me repeat that. Your right wing bullshit was roundly rejected in the last 2 elections.
72% to 76% of the people, you know, that would be We the People, want some relief from the staggering burden of health care costs. You have offered nothing I’ve seen today that addresses the facts involved in the dicussion. It does however seem that you are full of the same old right wing talking points roundly rejected, as was earlier stated, by the people.
Because the regulars here are far to polite to tell you and I’ve got nothing to lose, I’ll tell you; your an idiot. Your shit is so thin we are reading the limpballs newsletter through it. Your pathetic “arguments” have no basis in fact. You clearly are incapable of reading and comprehending the posts here because you continue to type the same stupid shit ya been typing all day. You should be burning up teh Gazoogle educating your moronic self as to the severity of the current situation. Because you have yours everything is just dandy. You willingly choose to ignore how much your life is linked to every other person, not just in this country, but on the planet. Don’t think so? (I know ya don’t.)
My lack of affordable health care is not your problem is your position. What you are obviously far to ignorant to comprehend is that it is your problem. Ya see, the things that currently provide you with a comfortable way of life, I was there to help build. When I say everything I’m not stretching it. From the sapce shuttle and ICBMs to nuclear submarines to the fucking computer you have missused all day to post your stupid shit I was making the parts, molds, dies and fixed tooling that made that possible. So you know, (very slowly) manufacturing has been destroyed in this country and health care is a very big part of the problem. What has been lost is not just a bunch of jobs, it is the very soul of the thing that allowed us as a country to claim greatness. Try, just a little, to get up to speed here. Without affordable health care, how will I (and millions like me) be around to teach the next generation of workers, who will continue to provide you with the comforts you now enjoy and brag about, what they need to know? 30 years of unchecked greed and corporate wellfare have undone the most mighty economic engine in the history of the planet. Your nonsense, lack of knowledge, inability to understand facts, spewing of talking points and general ignorance are helping nothing. Contributing nothing.
Your inability to conceptualize the stakes here is troubling, but more disturbing is your willingness to fuck your fellow man because you’ve got yours. So very simply, because that seems to be what you can understand, fuck you!
The predatory Mr. Romney wouldn’t know a laissez-faire, no subsidies for business – or other non-taxpayers – if it bit him in the checkbook.
Sorry selise – Here is the correct link
Thanks, I’ll check back here later or catch you on Late Nite …
WOW
That is great writing. thanks
Wrong! It’s the ONE entitlement every human has.
Why don’t you crawl back under your rock and piss on your own cornflakes!
Indeed!
Ubuntu!!
Oldsnow you answered the Troll better than
I could!! Thanks!
Oldnslow,,,ditto above. Sincerely!

“Strengthening the private insurance system” would be great and the reform bill does some of that. Unfortunately that doesn’t make it cheaper or force them to insure everyone.
I’m not sure what “burdensome regulations” there are, but the reform bill changes some things which should bring down costs.
We already take taxpayers dollars to help pay for the poor. But, it’s not the cheapest kind of care, so the reform bill will pay for more community health clinics, more doctors & nurses and subsidies to the poor to get regular insurance (instead of ER-care).
I wonder what the total ‘take’ is for corporations on the dole.
If we weren’t in a recession it would be time to look at eliminating a bunch of those. Maybe late next year we can look at some with an eye toward tax reform.
dearest oldnslow, I too am a lurker, but after your response had to say how much I appreciate what you said. Those With often have no concept of how their With came into existence! As far as many of us are concerned, torgo2009 and his/her sense of entitlement can go jump off a cliff.
