This afternoon about 20 people opposed to a public option demonstrated outside Sen Bill Nelson’s office in Tampa. WMNF interviewed one of the demonstrators and the listeners were treated to a parroting of the insurance/pharma talking points, eg, socialized medicine, no choice of doctors, mandated coverage, the whole 9 yards. I wonder how much they were paid by Big Greed.
Wait, there’s some question that Kucinich would vote against a plan w/o a strong public option? WTH?
Reply to #2…This was surely a coporate set by these creepy greedy basturds.
Done, every one, including the Thank You to Ellison and Waters.
Your addition of Dennis Kucinich to this list seems to be gilding the lily. He is one of the Congressional Dems’ most progressive voices, which is why the MSM portray him as “shrill”. His state’s Senator, Sherrod Brown, is one of the few Senate supporters of health care reform.
Until a congresscritter makes the public pledge we are seeking here, any notions of progressivity can and might be bargained away. Asking a progressive to make the progressive pledge, publicly, to progressive activists is what this effort is all about.
We want them to make the pledge, and until they make the pledge, they get the calls, the tweets, the emails, the FAXes, and the Mike Stark video treatment. It’s easy to end the onslaught — TAKE THE PLEDGE!
I think that misstates Mr. Kucinich’s politics, or are you confusing him with Blanche Lincoln? The only big retailers that have him in their pockets are the ones who accept his debit card for jeans, white socks and manila folders.
My concern is not about asking him to pledge; it’s about using limited resources wisely.
I think maybe your misunderstanding the intent. We want everyone to take the pledge, and until they do, we’ll keep asking.
Kucinich being including on this list isn’t some kind of criticism, it’s that he hasn’t take the pledge.
We want them on the record, regardless. If he’s so willing to lead on this– and I’m sure he is– then this is a no brainer for him. He should take the pledge.
We’re reaching out to everyone in the progressive caucus, that’s always been the plan.
We want Kucinich to take the pledge. That’s all.
Thank you!
It’s low-hanging fruit when there are better apples higher in the tree. But I agree, numbers and momentum are all-important in trying to persuade a reluctant Congress and more reluctant president constructively to reform the one thing Americans need and want most.
Don’t twitter but will call Chelie Pingree tomorrow. I am in ME. Did not vote for Tom Allen because he “bent over” for the bushco.
Just tweeted Jay Islee. And will again tonight, tomorrow, the next day and next until he takes the PLEDGE.
done!
Here’s a useful website: http://tcxs.net/
You can Twitter ALL members of congress thru this website by writing ONE message.
I just twittered about the #publicoption as suggested and also sent a tweet about #crime – The need to reopen the 9/11 investigation in light of the startling new evidence.
Done! Great idea!
Sent out the tweets to all. Good Idea!
thanks.
