Who cares what repubs think. It’s like caring what Mussolini’s thugs think. They’re dead, and if they don’t realize it, we should be seeing to it.

Dear Senator Cornyn:

Please for once and for all, go fuck yourself! And take every single corporate whore with you, democrat or republic.
Why do you all hate America? I hear Iraq has a shiny new democracy, perhaps you all should purchase a one way ticket.

Dear Senator Cornyn:

The fact that Democrats are breathing is a deal breaker for Rethuglicans. Just STFU and let the adults run the country.

Now, go sit down and shut up, Senator BoxTurtle.
No one cares what you think.

Of course it will eventually end the private health insurance industry, that’s the point.

Beat me to it.

1) Of course it will eventually end the private health insurance industry, that’s the point.

2) Nothing will be acceptable to Republicans, so why is anyone talking to Cornyn?

Dear Senator Cornyn,

Just in case you haven’t figured it out, you are irrelevant. Important health care legislation has passed through budget reconciliation before now, and if necessary we’ll pass it via budget reconciliation again. EMTALA and SCHIP were both passed by budget reconciliation.

Now, personally, I think that EMTALA was perhaps the worst piece of health care legislation ever enacted, but that’s not because of its intent. The intent (to make sure that people in medical crisis get treatment to stabilize their condition regardless of their ability to pay) was pure, but the legislation was seriously flawed. It identified no source of funding to cover those costs. But when you look at the history of the legislation, the GOP can claim that aspect too.

Your bottom line, Senator, appears to be that anything your corporate masters oppose, you will oppose. Your corporate masters are rent-seekers. Getting our health care financing house in order is too important to allow your rent-seekers to continue their behavior. If they want to play, they can play as regulated utilities and open their books to public audit. Or they can get the hell out of the business.

Even in your home state of Texas people are fed up with the insurance companies. So, Senator Cornyn, here’s a clue for you. You aren’t going to lead on this, and that’s fine. I doubt I’d want you leading on it in any event. Here are your choices: follow, or get out of the way.
